Err...what device are you using? Certainly not like that on my Nexus 4 and 7 with 4.3.

Yes you're right. Jittery was probably the wrong word on the nexus 4 and 7. Cumbersome would probably be a better term. It just feels like Apple nailed how everything scrolls whereas android feels like a second rate copy that makes it feel slower. The best I can describe it is that there's not enough inertia when scrolling down pages and moving around the OS. It just feels like my finger has to make more effort after a prolonged period of use.

Looks like you can now delete playlists now by swiping left in the playlists tab. This is good because in the previous 4 betas I had an issue with orphaned empty playlists that couldn't be deleted from my iphone or in itunes

Does anyone have beta 5 on their Ipad 4th Gen? is the frosted look gone on the newest ipad as well?

I liked the more minimal look for the settings (which I think now looks like "kids colours") and for the phone (which isn't much worse.)

It worked for Jobs. The problem is you can never really know what customers want because they often are not sure what they want. Further, customers are not designers. Moreover, listen to the vocal people is not necessary listening to the majority. I loved the the OS that was shown at the developers conference.

It worked for Jobs because he was a master salesman.

Anyway we don't know that the changes we're seeing are due to Apple listening to the mob (or whatever the quote was). I mean one of the biggest complaints is the home screen icons and none of those have changed significantly. It could just be that the beta we're seeing now is what beta 1 would have been like had Apple had more time, and some of the subsequent betas are Apple internally finishing unfinished designs.

They still have the minimal look. They're just color-coded now, and I think that's a nice touch.

I guess if you like colors you're a kid now.

Bejeweled Blitz works!

Not sure if it has been mentioned before. I didn't read through all 18 pages (and counting) of the replies. But my favourite (and probably the only) game Bejeweled Blitz now works! Wohoo! :)

i love this,

the sound when you lock your phone has way better timing. last beta still had that 0.5-1.5 secs delay after locking.

but why is the unlocking sound gone? give it back!! :D

nice beta :)

What blows my mind about the apple scrolling smoothness is that they pretty much nailed it from the very beginning. Im not sure if any android phone is as good even now.

Wow! What a bunch of hype!

iOS7 just isn't very exciting.

First, there is a new 'theme'. Well, I jailbroke my iPhone 5/4/3 and ipad so I have had assess to MUTTIPLE themes for years, many of which are really stunning.

Drop down notifications! Well, the millions who jailbroke their iphones/pads have had this for years.

Multitasking! Well, the millions who jailbroke their iphones/pads have had configurable multitasking for years and it's REAL multitasking, not Apple's multi-tasking "lite".

And Siri improvements! Well, the only direction Apple has for Siri is UP. If the phoquing thing worked, it would be great. I rarely use it and then, only to dial a phone number while driving.

Fanboys justifiably bitch and moan about Android's blatant copying of Apple's OS but where is the bitching and moaning because Apple blatantly copied apps from Cydia?

A friend of mine has it installed on his ip5. I played with it for 10 minutes and handed it back telling him "I'll wait 6 months after its release for the jailbroke version under the single hope that there is performance improvements.

iOS7....yawn......

Things I like: the skeumorphism being gone (I'm looking at you, Game Center). When they described the Today view in Notification Center at WWDC it didn't sound like a big deal to me, but I think it's really useful. Control Center is great just for quicker functionality (should've been in iOS awhile ago). I like the new multitasking system better, 1. because you can see all of your apps going at once and 2. because it's more intuitively obvious to slide away the app than to hold down on the apps in the multitasking area at the bottom to make them jiggle imo. I like them adding a bit more color to Settings, in the earlier betas I thought it just made things harder to navigate when it was all white. I LOVE the translucent backgrounds in Notification Center, Control Center, Siri, etc. compared to the awful-looking stitched backgrounds before. Pretty much all of the apps are equally or more functional as before too, if you ask me.

Things I'm meh about: I don't hate the new icons like other people seem to. They seem on par with the previous ones to me, not better or worse really.

Things I dislike: I like the clean and flat look, but yeah, there's too much white. I think a bit more color, especially to differentiate between the apps, would be greatly appreciated. Give each app a color with your "new palette" Jony and intersperse it in the app more. I like that Search is now available on every screen, but I think they need a gesture that's not pulling down, since that's the gesture for Notification Center. Maybe pinch or something?

I think it needs some tweaking, but it breathes life into the OS, which was frankly much needed. Now if only they had a bigger iPhone (4.5" would be awesome IMO) and a Retina iPad Mini, I'd be enticed to get a new device too...

New Tidbit

In the Messages app there is a color density of the senders(blue) messages when you scroll. Messages closest to the bottom of the screen are a denser blue than message at the top of the screen.

And everything you just said is what a lot of people have been saying for YEARS, yet it didn't stop them from becoming the most valuable company in the world. Some people will just never get it. By the way, ios' multitasking "lite" is much harder to implement than full blown desktop style multitasking which just lets everything run wild. There's also a reason why they do it. It's not just because they're Nazi's. Just food for thought.

Edit: whoops, and I just inadvertently validated Godwin's law.

Didn't see anyone say anything about "Frequent Places" It also has a history. Maybe this isn't new, but i don't remember seeing it. I drill into Location Services on every update to ensure I don't get tracked. I see that It has identified my home and work just by the amount of time i spend there. Interesting.

This could be pretty cool, if someone stole my phone. I think I'm going to leave it on.

Also, I see that it lets me help improve MAPS.APP. I think i will help. not my typical style, but i like seeing those options.

Showed up in beta 4 actually. Definitely a nice feature.

The History field under Frequent Locations in the Location Services>System Services section now has more detailed information available regarding locations.
(From Beta 4 "what's new" thread)

It worked for Jobs because he was a master salesman.

You do realise that the original iPhone would have looked something like this without Jobs asking Ive's team to revise the whole design at the last minute:

Not that I particularly care about Jobs, but far from just a salesman if you ask me.

App Install Not Working

This is a known issue in beta 5. You need to reboot your device once or twice to resolve the issue.

App install works fine on my iPhone 5 but will not work on my iPad 3. Rebooted many times, no fix for me. No install will work.

Duplicate Notifications still??

Is anyone still getting duplicate notifications for tweetbot and/or team stream? Or any other apps for that matter?

I can attest to the fact that Android 4.3 on Nexus 7 2013 model does indeed NOT lag - BUT in terms of smoothness, if you have used an iPad before, you will be able to tell that on the android 4.3 device such as the nexus 7 2013 - which is a quad core processor, the smoothness is 90-95% there. It's just that last 5% that isn't as smooth but it's so close, I am not the least bit concerned about it.

BUT if we are talking strictly PHONE, lag and stutter is still there :( on ALL android phones.
