1. All users should refrain from updating until other users do and find the bugs.

2. Who would find the bugs if no one updated?

Good plan.

1. All inexperienced users who struggle to fix things when their devices go wrong. For example, if you don't know about DFU you probably shouldn't be updating for a few days.

2. Experienced users.

I read the carriers pushed the wrong IPSW for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices over the air. Those who updated via iTunes did not experience these bugs.

Could this be true??? Seems odd.

Pretty sure Apple releases OTA's for iOS not the carriers.

This is not the way to win over a previous Note 3 and Note 2 user with 9 more days left within the return policy. Know I understand why Verizon verifies Android software before release.

For like EIGHT MONTHS after all other carriers released it. And that's purely so they can add a gig of their own bloat ware to the build.

And still silence from Apple. I guess I am within my return window. There lack of any real response is really grinding me.

Return it then. Of you are so unhappy with all these recent issues, go ahead and return it. All else who feel just like you should.

amazing that a company that has had such huge fiascos with maps, this health app, ios updates, etc can still command a premium price. but won't stop them until the customer base finally votes with their wallet. keep that in mind.

8.01 update fail

it definitely sucks this happened and it was a pain the butt to go back to 8.0, but got it done. at the end of the day it's technology and crap happens, regardless of MFG. Human error happens no matter what, with it also comes innovation to make things better in the future. I was a long time Apple owner, switched to the Galaxy S5 after owning a Apple 5S, it seemed cool for a while but there are a lot of crappy things about android software too.

There are definitely some legacy things about Android I do like, but not enough to keep me on one. In short the camera on Android is un beatable at this point, not even close… though I haven’t really compared on the iPhone 6 yet. The fact android remembers your log in email when ever you need to log in somewhere is also really cool. However the fact you can save a picture in up to 3 different places and finding them isn’t always the easiest, sucks. Their back up method is horrible to the cloud, and recovering lost data is ******.

Their software crashes A LOT!! and is often very very slow, very annoying, I never had to reboot so much in my life. Having the ability to have an SD card is kind of good, but you can’t do everything on it you can do on the built in storage, so kind of lame in that respect. It’s very deceiving. Many things on android are complex and not a simple process. iPhone it’s very simple and user friendly. You save pictures, screenshots, download pictures, what ever, they all go in one place, easy to find, easy to back up and easy to restore. Apps - there seems to be just as many for both sides, kind of no issue there. The finger print scanner on the android is a ****ing joke, doesn’t work 80% of the time, the one on the iPhone is brilliant and works flawlessly.

A lot of what you had advantages on android before iOS 8 were cool, but now Apple does all those so few advantages left. Other than them making them bigger, smaller, thinner of faster, I don’t know what more innovation they can make to make them much better in the future except maybe tying in more cloud services regardless of manufacturer. You might think Apple is fail, but they sold 4 million the first day, 10 million over the course of the week, many of them Android users, so if android was so epic why are so many users fleeing to apple??? Android has is already on their 2nd generation of watch, and they haven’t sold hardly any… I guarantee when the iWatch comes out they will sell millions and it will be the biggest adoption of that technology ever.

There is no perfect solution at the end of the day, some people like Ford, others like Chevy.. who cares, if you like what you have and it makes your life easier or happy more power to you. At least I can say I gave Android a fair shake. But even with today's glitch, I love my iPhone.

OK, that makes sense. When things are going well the sentiment is that anyone not on the very latest version should stand before a firing squad :)

It's the best of times, it's the worst of times...
iPhone 6/6+, 128GB, cool new features to look forward to.

AnnouncementStreamingGate, BendGate, WiFiGate, SlowIOS8Gate, and heck, if you love slow WiFi, we have NoCellGate!

This is either a bad month, or the sign of things to come. I am really hoping for the former.
Ye Steve would have never allowed this to happen.

My friend with a 5c somehow just got hers to install 8.0.1 ( mine has blocked it thankfully) and she has issues with twitter app now failing to open.

She tried deleting the app and reinstalling and it still force closes instantly

As of right now my android phone (not a Samsung) can make a phone call, my iPhone 6 cannot. ;)

Is It Safe To Install Now?

ITunes is asking me if I want to upgrade to 8.0.1

Have all the issues been resolved and it is OK to install this update now?????

does anyone want to partner with me to start selling "Bend prevention" iphone 6 cases? we can weld a piece of steel into a metal case and make millions. ;)

Great idea. Your "bend prevention" steel cases would also be perfect "antenna prevention" cases.

This is absolute nonsense. Apple puts updates out there if they aren't for people to update then they shouldn't put them out to the public. This isn't a beta. You're either a paid poster or just a complete idiot.

Serious the amount of cultists out there Scientology should take some lessons from Apple.

I think most of us on here jumped on it and found the issue. All normal users did not receive an update is pending notification so I would guess that this didn't spread too far in the wild.

Going forward, I will wait a few days to see what the internet is saying before updating. What the heck has happened to Apple?
