On my iPhone 5S I used to have 6-7 hrs of usage. Now I'm down to 4-5 hrs.
I was thinking about an aging battery (it's 11 months old) but yesterday I checked it and it is at 98% of the original value, so it's perfect.
It's something software related......

How do u check your battery value?

Deleted Facebook off my phone, used safari more and focused less on Twitter and Snapchat.

Still not really making any difference, I've pretty much gave up now with this phone.

I will be going to Apple in the new year to try and get this sorted. Hopefully they can give me a refurb that is on 8.0.2 software or lower.

Really can't be bothered with a phone that doesn't last as long as my old iPhone 5.

For the experiment don't focus less on twitter and snapchat. Delete them for a day.

Also if you have an Exchange email, that can be a problem of getting stuck. One can tell when the busy icon is running constantly.

Ha, sorry but I rely so heavily on them apps for staying in touch with people etc.

Will charge my phone overnight, then i'll see whether the battery continues to drain so quickly after deleting them apps.

To clarify, when I'm using my mail app even if I'm on Wifi, it takes ages to download the messages from the server. Never used to take this long on my iPhone 5. I use a hotmail email account, so not sure if this exchange is relevant to me or not? Just an interesting discovery, literally takes a minute or two to check the server and download.

Sure. But to figure out the problem you have to isolate it. I'm not suggesting that you don't use Twitter in the future, just determine if that is the culprit. I have Twitter too. But rarely use it. Looks like you use it a lot. Remember when that screen is on, it is worse than making a call.

Long server times on the mail? That could be it. And it probably is not your phone, but the server. Try turning off mail, or at least place it in manual mode.

My company had a server issue years ago. It would take forever to check and download. Killed my battery quickly. Eventually someone sorted it out.

Good luck.

Gotta say that since a few days (not necessarily due to 8.1.2) my battery has been draining like crazy.

I changed it during the recall in October and could last it about 2 days... now after one day it's in the critical zone. Can't say I've changed my habits either... I use Airplane mode a LOT (going to work, coming back, and during the night) and I always close all of my apps first thing in the morning.

Sounds good. So what type of usage is that 11hrs? I typically get around 7-8hr on iP6 (8.1.1) using mostly web browser, email and several apps for various things. Of course when playing music a lot more. Almost 100% on wifi most days.

Pretty much the same type of usage. Mostly on WiFi all day as well. I use the web quite a bit, play some music (not much usually) and send and receive messages while retrieving my email throughout the day. I don't have the email on push, I have it check every 30 minutes. I also don't close down apps in the background very often anymore, a tip from the previous blog. Background App Refresh is also off. Additionally, I went to Privacy<Location Services<System Services and only have "Find my Iphone" and "Location-Based Alerts" on. I turned off Cell Network Search and ALL of the rest off, including "Frequent Locations" as I don't need my phone to be sending all of that information out so often. That has to be somewhat of an additional drain on the battery and I'm not losing any abilities when using any of my apps. So far it's doing pretty well.

Sure! Here are my battery results after restoring it. (Note: I left all the setting on default)

The first usage as taken after I was using the device constantly and not giving it any time to sleep.

This one is on a typical day. Some light gaming (30 mins in total), texting, browsing the web, and some music playback. I also just played around with the phone throughout and day and used a numerous of apps. I think I am really glad with my battery life so far :) I would love to see your results.

I believe he or she used an application called, 'iBackupBot' it's available for OS X or Windows. There is an article on how to view the battery charge cycle count without jailbreaking. Link: http://www.icopybot.com/blog/check-ipad-iphone-battery-charge-cycle-count-without-jailbreaking.htm

iPhone 6 8.2b3

That's fantastic! I am really tempted to install iOS 8.2 Beta 3 now :)

Battery drain after iOS 8.1.2 update

I'm not happy with the battery life! 8.1.2 is a heck of a lot more stable on my 6+ so that is good, but the battery life is worse than it was on 8.1.1 so that is bad. Improved battery life is one of the main advantages of the 6+ over the 4.7" version, so to be getting similar battery life to the smaller phone is unacceptable. If battery life was the same as in 8.1.1 then the latest update would be a winner. Unfortunately one of the main things I was chuffed about with my 6+ has now vanished.

Wow! Exact same thing is happening to me after iOS 8.1.2 update.

Basically, after updating to the iOS 8.1.2, I am having serious battery drain issues with my iPhone 6+. I used to be doing around 15 hrs total (with 1% juice left) with LTE on and medium-heavy usage (I use Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Message and Pinterest a lot- no problems!) but now only 3 or 4 hours in I am now at 48%! VERY WEIRD considering this is an iPhone 6 PLUS. This is very strange because I could last a day and half when I was at iOS 8.1.1..

I basically start my day around 9am-10am and would usually conk out around 11pm or 12am. This is very unacceptable..

Have you found a solution? Can we still roll back to 8.1.1?

Since updating my battery has slowly been draining at a faster pace. I wish iOS8 had the same battery life expectancy as iOS 7 did for me.

No, the battery indicator and the amount of energy in the physical battery are out of sync. this happens every iOS update (At least for me and others)

----------

I was just explaining what I meant by settling is that the battery indicator and the physical energy in the battery get out of calibration.

There are a lot of issues Apple could automate in every iOS update like resetting all settings, network settings (which seem to fix a LOT of issues after an update) but they don't. So, I don't know what to tell you. All I can say is that every iOS update my battery reporting gets out of sync and corrects. It may or may not be nonsense but I'm not alone in seeing battery drop rates increase after an update.

If this is indeed true, what would be your solution? :)
Thanks.

I hope Apple does something to fix the battery issue in build 8.1.2. There is quite a long thread concerning major battery drain being seen on the 8.1.2 build and I'm sure Apple can fix the issue quickly with the release of 8.1.3. And no, I'm not a normal "battery issue" person and if you read the chain, you'll find numerous people having a major drop in battery on both the iPhone 6 and the 6+. PLEASE APPLE, look at the "iOS 8.1.2 Battery" chain under the iOS 8 tab here on Mac Rumors!! Thank you

I agree. I have the iP6+ and have been experiencing serious issues with the battery after iOS 8.1.2. The reason why I chose the iP6+ was for the battery life. Now it's really performing crapilly! Never had this problem with iOS 8.1.1 before..

Hope Apple fixes this soon. I have emailed them but no response yet. Unfortunately.

Thank you very much.
This is the best I can obtain on iOS 8.1.2 with my iPhone 5S not restored, with Wi-Fi always on and a mix of 3G/4G all the day.

And it was obtained with a little use of mail and iMessage for half the day. With normal use I'm down to 5 hrs.
Basically mail and iMessage are killing my battery life.

iPhone 6 died after 3 hours 30 minutes usage today.

Unplugged my phone at 9 this morning, was dead before 1 o'clock.

I'm heading to Apple in a few weeks to sort this out, i've already been before and they said nothing was wrong. I'm going to show the guy a whole host of forum posts on the internet with hundreds of them saying the exact same thing as me '8.1 iPhone 6 battery drain'.

I'll then politely ask for this to be sorted out whether that's through a refurb device, or them changing the battery somehow. I'm obviously still under warranty and quite frankly am appalled by how quickly my battery drains even on standby.

Fingers crossed if i do get a replacement, that the refurb is on an older version of iOS 8

Wow - sorry to hear so many have had problems with 8.1.2. My iPhone 6 battery life has been better than ever since I upgraded. It's been showing like 70% charge when I go to bed. Last week I decided to see how long the thing would last without charging it at night, and I went 3 whole days. I honestly don't use it much at work, but I've had every iPhone since the 3G, and have always tended to be low on battery by the end of the day.
