I'm really not seeing poor battery life that others are reporting.

That a 6?

This is why i'm concerned about mine.

Been at work all day, only used it on an hour break and a half hour break.

I need an iPhone 6 on the old software, not bothered if it's a refurb just can't be dealing with this 8.1.2 software. Ever since 8.1 it's drained on standby without me even using it.

Hold on if you can for 8.1.3. I'm on 8.2 B3 and the battery life if amazing on my 6. In sure 8.1.3 will fix the battery issues. 8.1.2 was also terrible for me.

Lot of messaging on a poor network coverage area could easily kill your battery life.
I think it's your case.

Good to know. As for 8.2 b3, compare to 8.0, 8.0.2, and 8.1.1? I am on 8.1.1 for now and battery is fine. Not planning on making the jump to 8.1.2 but perhaps will to 8.1.3 or even 8.2 b3 or b4.

I get full 3g signal whilst at work, 3-4 bars of 4G if i toggle it on.

My battery still drains regardless. I can literally see it ticking down, losing 1% almost every minute even on standby. I'm not going to fool myself into letting Apple dictate whether my phone has a problem or not.

For me, there is a clear problem with my battery. Their diagnostics may claim nothing is wrong in the hardware which I know myself because the phone functions are perfect apart from my battery dies after 2-3 hours of usage. It's clearly a software issue, and given the fact i can't restore to previous versions (8.0 etc), I'm forced to stick with this problem. I'm sorry it's nothing personal to you but the way Apple handles iOS updates is a disgrace for such a big company.

Since the problem it's only your (I had 6 hrs on the iPhone 5S and 7 on my actual iPhone 6), it's not a software problem but an hardware issue or a combination on your device.

This is the result of my first full charge in 8.1.2 after unjailbreaking and restoring from my pre-jailbreak backup. Every bit as good as it was before and it might get better.

It's not better. It's worse.

My iPhone 6 plus got around 15 hours before. Now after 8.1.2 it only remains around 10 hours just like yours. It has some impact on battery life. No doubt about it.

I was always averaging 10-12 hours usage and anywhere from 1.5-3 days standby depending on how heavy I was using my phone prior to 8.1.2 so nothing has changed for me. Only way I would get more than 12 hours of usage was if I did a lot of podcast streaming with the screen off.

Seeing as this is double the usage times I was getting with the 5S and older I have no complaints.

I get 4-5 hours usage on ios 8.1.1 and im expecting around the same on 8.1.2 after reading the comments. hopefully 8.2 fixes the issue or even 8.1.3. Im on an iPhone 5 btw.

Yeah it is a 6.

I usually average 3 bars of 4G.

8.1.2 only gives me good battery life if I load up my old iPhone 5 iCloud backup. I've found that if I do a settings reset that the battery life lessens by approximately one hour, and this is after going through my settings with a fine toothed comb several times. My settings are identical and yet only the iCloud backup gives me exceptional battery life. This is most strange and there is no logic behind it.

Appointment with Apple Genius tomorrow.

Should be interesting, fingers crossed I can get a swap albeit a refurb.

Takes me about 30 minutes to drive to my nearest store. Been there before and they told me to tweak my settings. May have to be a bit more forceful this time, obviously still under warranty etc.

I'd actually pay a little bit of money towards getting another one just so I can get it sorted and enjoy my phone again :(

Sheesh... every other 0.x update or something yields in battery issues? I've only done one major update on my IpT, and a few minor ones. I use my IpT as a gaming device mostly, so it's harder to sort out any issues in battery. Currently, I'm on IpT5, 7.04. I do wish I can get the Battery Usage screen, but that's either an Iphone thing, ios8, or both.

Went to the Apple store this morning and the guy gave me a replacement. He also noticed that the front-facing camera position was not accurate and the cover had moved across the camera a little bit, it wasn't 100% aligned.

Went out back, got me another one. Set it all up, and I checked what software it was on. It's on 8.1.1 so not what I was hoping for however will see how well this phone works now.

Fingers crossed!

Thats great news :) I hope you get the battery life that you are hoping for.

This is my battery life from yesterday.

I basically did a lot of consuming media on Netflix and YouTube ( I watched around 6 episodes of crash course which is around 50 mins of none stop YouTube watching) I also did a bit of reading and I had a mixture of 3G and WiFi. It's worth noting that my setting are on default with the exception of a couple location services tweaks .

8.1.1 works great for me. It's every bit as good as out of box as far as battery. Plus the bugs it addressed made it better than previous versions. Give it a few days

Another decent result with my 5s

Actually a i am afraid from the next update to miss up this results :)

I've got a 5S with the same battery problems many are reporting here. I noticed something interesting, though:

If the phone is stationary, like overnight, I maintain a 100% charge for 8 hours. I normally carry the phone in my pocket, but if I leave it on my desk at work for long periods of time I get virtually no battery drain.

Which makes me wonder how much battery all the motion sensors in the phone are using while I'm carrying it. I'm suspecting that's a major cause for the battery drain, and maybe the Health app has made it worse. I can't find any way to turn it off or shut it down, but I'd like to try if anyone knows how.

The health app should not affect your battery life in any way and if it does it should be a very insignificant. The reason is because Health app is simply a Dashboard like Passbook. But, instead of showing you all your coupons and credit cards in shows you your health information. It does this by collecting information from the iPhone's sensors and by other apps that write or read data from it. To my knowledge there is no way to turn off the iPhone's A8 or M8 from collecting motion data. These advance chips are made to save battery life, "M8 coprocessor. Technology that moves you forward.

When you’re in motion, the M8 motion coprocessor continuously measures data from the accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and a new barometer. This offloads work from the A8 chip for improved power efficiency. And now those sensors do even more, measuring your steps, distance, and elevation changes." These senses are so advance that if it detects that your driving it will automatically turn off, "Ask to Join Networks". I suspect that you're getting battery drainage from this 8.1.2 software update. Would you mind uploading your battery usage?

The trick is do the update as soon as its available, then typically you have a few days to roll back if need be. In my case I am on 8.1.1 so wont have that luxury but always have done that in the past.

sure messages background activity means someones checking your location.

It's not your motion sensor. It's the phone struggling to keep a strong network signal. It drains the battery more than any other background activity.

That makes sense. I'll try turning off cellular while I'm on wi-fi at work and see if that helps.
