Just loaded beta 2 onto my iPad Air. Everything seems just as smooth as 8.0.2. Initiating Spotlight still drops frames though whereas I don't remember it doing so on 7.1.2. Rotating the keyboard is still choppy as well in places. Things like that are disappointing and should not be happening on a device like this.

This is real disappointing to read. If we update later this month and it's the same, not going to be happy. I'm on iPad 4 and the choppiness is annoying. You would think Apple would be hearing about this during the beta.

I've reported it to Apple and made sure to state that it occurs on 8.0.2 and 8.1b2 so hopefully they'll see it and fix it. This device is too fast to have laggy rotation animations when the keyboard is up.

That's awesome!

Even though I'm not testing the beta, I've sent in feedback on this as well. I'm enjoying reading this thread. Please keep us updated! Thank you.

Anyone can use the bugreport.apple.com website, by the way, even if you're not a registered developer. :)

You are totally right, Apple should just explain it thru Tips.app to those who are complaining and leave it as it was. Or keep all three folders.. I'll give them feedback.

Yeah I think the best solution is to just keep all folders. I hardly ever use the album tab anyway so I don't really care but people seem to love their camera roll. Cannot wait for icloud photo library to have my entire library stored, it will be sweet :D

I prefer camera roll, but having all 3 options would be nice.
I liked the order of camera roll, being in order of them taken.
Photos tab is cool, but sometimes I want to delete the photo I took on the device, from the device (which in turn removes from photo stream). Current method isn't so intuitive for multiple devices. I'm currently using 2 iPhones and an iPad. I don't get any indication of whether a photo on Photos tab is the one I took on that device or another. Deleting the photo tells me it'll remove it from photostream on all devices, but if that wasn't the device that took the photo, I won't know that until I see it on the device that took the photo...

Also, twitter doesn't seem to work with the current method. I transferred my photos onto my mac, deleted them off my iPhone. They still existed on the Photos tab (thanks to Photo Stream). Twitter wouldn't show the photo stream photos, so I couldn't post it. It was only showing the few I'd since taken on the device, and albums I'd sync'ed from my mac.
Having the Photo Stream album would solve that.

Edit:
Just thought of something else.. Photos tab groups by place and date.
I've had October 1st to 8th group at "Home", with October 5th photos taken elsewhere, appear below that "Home" group on the Photos tab. That's a tad confusing, with the 5th photos showing below the 8th photos.
I had to jump to "Recently Added" to find the photo, which was almost as confusing due to the random order that photos were added when my other device sync'ed to Photo Stream, and this device didn't download them in the right order...

My "Collections" is currently made up of, in order:
3 locations - 18 Aug - 8 Oct
1 location - 3-4 Sep

Having Camera Roll, Recently Added and Photo Stream, would help people deal with the inconsistencies.

Siri keeps using my location even though I have set location services off for her, has this been fixed in beta 2?

Also, dictation seems to be using my location every time, is this fixed too?

Thanks in advance!

I noticed that in Beta 2, TouchID is SO fast that it actually becomes annoying! Sometimes I just tap the home button to see notifications, but lately I end up unlocking the phone! That's crazy-fast.

I've started having to tap with a non-configured finger.

Just thought I'd add something positive to the thread of mostly negative. :)

just use the lock/unlock button

When viewing a text messaging thread - it will no longer vibrate when new texts come in. One of the best features in 8.1 beta 2 for me!

Theres not even that short text buzz that was introduced in 7.1.

To avoid that, I usually press with my nail or tip of my finger (or side). Seems to be little enough of my finger that Touch ID isn't recognising it, if I just want to press the button to see the lock screen.

I think that's the case on 8.0.2 too? I don't recall the vibrate annoying me like it used to, when I'm on a message thread.

----------

I have Siri Disabled at lockscreen and Touch ID enabled -- the way this functioned in iOS 7.x and 8.0/8.0.2/8.1b1 was as long as the finger was recognized, siri was activated.

As of 8.1b2, this no longer works for me -- can anyone else confirm?

I can't get that to work on iOS 8.0.2... I have Touch ID enabled, and disabled Siri lockscreen in Settings-> Touch ID & Passcode.
When I press and hold my finger on the lock screen, it does nothing, then unlocks when I lift my finger.

Exactly just give us all three albums and everyone is happy. There will inevitably always be some organisation issues with pictures coming from other sources eg Twitter, friends etc, especially if they don't have metadata. Unless you manually edit all of them on a pc it will cause some problems. I still know loads of people that to don't even use geolocation for pictures on their iPhones. They than send me a picture from a night out together and it messes up my MOMENTS collection
I sorted all my old pictures on my Mac and they are ready to be imported into IPL when released, can't wait.

I'm looking forward to more info on IPL and the new Photos app. Only so I can see whether we'll still be able to sync photos or not, if we don't want to use IPL.
