iOS 8.1 beta 2 Fixes/Changes/Improvements

On my Mini Retina sometimes gestures stops working completely, like switching from application to desktop, home button works. To fix it i need to reset Ipad, is this fixed in IOS 8.1 beta 1 / 2?

I really hope everyone is reporting these to Apple, and not just posting them here...because if you are not reporting bugs, well they will not be fixed.
 
I keep running into the most annoying little bug. In every forum I visit I cannot type the contraction for 'did not' (d I d n ' t). It hangs Safari each and every time such that I have to force quit the app in the multitask.

A) did anyone else notice this on 8.0.2?
B) could someone please try it in the beta to see if it works.

Does the notification bug still appear?

E.g.
Someone sends me a text.
I check the text.
I exit messaging app.
I still see the "1" indicating unread message.
Bend phone in anger😡
Blame Apple.
Repeat.

I just typed didn't from my iPhone 6 in 8.0.2 without issue (didn't have to manually enter the apostrophe either). The bug you're encountering has to be one of the weirdest ones I've ever heard of.

Maybe your iPad thinks you aren't bring positive enough? Or... #ContractionGate.

D@mn. Still happening. It's very reproducible. I don't have a dev account. Can someone tell me if I can still report it?

Plus I'm not on the beta. So I don't know if it's still happening.

Had similar issue on iP6 when using shortcuts words. Had several set for my email address and various items and everytime i used it (say in a form or whatever in safari) it would hang and had to kill the app and start over. Finally just deleted the shortcuts and recreated them and it seems to work now. Apparently the old versions coming from iOS 7.1.2 didnt work right with iOS8, 8.0.2, or even 8.1b2.
 
Recents pictures missing

Anyone notice that some of your recents (top row of multitask window) are missing the picture of the contact? Several of mine have disappeared but a few still there. Have re-applied pictures for some of those contacts to see if it would resolve it but it hasn't. Some full screen pics went back to the small circle when receiving a phone call but re-applying the picture seems to correct that issue bit not the issue with recents.

[EDIT] Turns out it was an iCloud contact issue. A few of my contacts got duplicated somehow one without a pic and the other with a pic. The iMessage (recent) seemed to be the one with no pic. Linking the two within the contacts app fixed one but I didn't see a need to have a contact linked with 2 icloud entries at the bottom (same iCloud acct). So deleted all versions of each contact that was duplicated then recreated them solved it for the ones that were hosed. Pictures now appear in the recents for those few now.

Ah, I do have it set as a shortcut. I Deleted it. Didn't works now!!!

Does new connection feature to hotspot is working on 8.1? Because on 8.0.2 it doesn't work, always failing connection while handoff and continuity works fine
 
Don't know if this was mentioned, sorry. Anyone see if keyboard shortcuts in Safari now work? They randomly hang my Safari. The last letter will sit there in 'se ne' mode as I type it and never complete. Need to kill Safari. But it works in apps and other places. This is with the native keyboard but I do have others loaded. Major fail since I use shortcuts for several long email addresses!

The thing is is that they have been working fine for many people even in 8.0.

Interesting. I thought it was a general bug. Let me try deleting and recreating it... (That 'se ne' autocorrect should have been 'show me', where each letter pops up for a second... It hangs at the last letter of the shortcut.)

That should resolve it. I had to recreate them as well as they would lock up safari 100% of the time. iOS 8, 8.0.2 and even 8.1b2 same issue. Once deleted them and recreated no further issues.
 
Question, I'm using iOS 8 Beta 2. I've known this was an issue since iOS 8 was released. Not sure if it's an issue or not.

But every time I view a picture in the messaging app the status bar appears in the photo. Is that suppose to happen or no? I remember in iOS 7 this wasn't there.

Apple doesn't really read this for bug fixes.

Use bugreport.apple.com. It doesn't require you to be a developer to use it.

I didn't check the "WI-FI" speed yet, but the internet speed is quite good (and consistent) on my 6+
