Move Cursor

Custom Keyboards - Developers are now able to move the cursor location with a custom keyboard in iOS 8 beta 3.

This is the ONLY thing that I routinely miss from my jailbroken device while using iOS 8. I used that feature all of the time. I'm excited for someone to make use of this.

Music.app update

The top bar is also new on the playlists function within the Music.app on iOS 8 Beta 3.

Can anybody check if background audio (from Safari) works now? Thank You!

Did it break with earlier betas of iOS 8? It works fine in iOS 7. I use it to stream the audio from various video podcasts in Safari. Just close Safari (which will cause the audio to stop), slide up Control Center, tap "Play", and the audio will resume and continue to play in the background.

I've been thinking about this...

Since we can store files in iCloud Drive now of any format, can't we upload our music collection into iCloud Drive and eliminate the need for iTunes Match, or will they not be playable, etc. in the Music app?

I think "Will iCloud Drive support streaming media?" will be the crux of it. I'd expect that, just like you can opt to read (and add to library) a PDF email attachment in iBooks or other PDF-capable app, you'll have the option to play music files in the Music app or other available music player. I'd want to know if it'll stream, or would I have to fully download or put up with heavy buffering before playing.

I'm not sure whether Apple will care whether you pay them for Match or for additional iCloud storage space. And if you can manage to keep iOS backups and your music/video library in your free 5gb??? Congratulations!

Cult of Mac estimated that Match's 25,000 song maximum is equivalent to about 250gb of dedicated storage. Or, 100 songs per GB. So, if you have a small library of music you haven't purchased via iTunes? iCloud Drive may work better. Large non-iTunes library? Seems like Match will be better.

Somebody claimed in another thread that it did not work anymore.

E911 always requires a physical address associated with the phone number in case you dial 911 and you aren't using the cellular towers.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm somewhat educated on this: Dialing 911 transmits your location for obvious reasons. When calling from a microcell (most likely because the emergency is in a place with poor/no coverage), the microcell has the address programmed into it because there won't be enough available towers for triangulation. WiFi calling is no different, without being routed through the cell network the phone won't know where it is.

Edit: I believe you are right, just adding onto it!

Hope that helps!

Well that's good news.

The one thing I was really hoping for is "Dark Mode" like in Yosemite. :apple:
Oh well, maybe later?

T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling - anyone know what devices?

Can anyone on the beta on T-Mobile confirm if it works on phones other than the 5S? That's the only phone I can find on other forums that definitely supports it. It seems nobody else testing on a lower phone has T-Mobile, and nobody else testing on T-Mobile has a lower phone!

(i.e. Will this work on my wife's iPhone 4S? That will save us on T-Mobile, as in recent months, the signal in our area has gotten worse as more tall in-fill houses are added to our neighborhood. We already have a T-Mob signal booster, but IT is losing signal regularly, too.)

Wifi Calling

Yes wifi calling has been enabled! I've had it since Beta 1! I have the iPhone 5.

Why did they enable the split screen/keyboard? I'm glad I disabled it before trying a complete re-wipe!!

Got a phone call and my iPad mini started to ring, but I couldn't pick up the phone call.

Yes iOS 8 beta 2 broke being able to listen to music/podcasts while being online. It should work now. I was also having a problem only bing able to listen to 3 seconds at a time and the apps would quit.

Wallpapers ios8

The blue underwater wallpaper was in beta 2 as well, it's not new.
It's on my iPhone 5S and it's still on beta 2.

Good to see they've enabled WiFi calling and steps support in the Health app.

select cal for notifications menu

I dont get why I cant pick ONE calendar from gmail to be the only one shown in notifications menu.

I just want my "tomorrow's events" to be ONE cal, not all 12 of mine. I work with many people and all cals must be visable, but I only want one to be in my notifications window.

not sure why we can choose this...
