I agree this is the worst iOS release in history, all the main features missing/not working as already stated, but there's lots of little things which don't woek either.
Such as the new share sheets - I drag an app icon to the front of the list (as its used often), and next time I start the SAME app, the share sheet has just defaulted back to normal.
Did nothing get tested in this release? It's like they just banged it out in a hurry cause they were too busy making silly watches that aren't waterproof!
I didn't even realize that all these new features I'm using are actually missing or not working. Whoa!

The whole iCloud thing seems to be being run by whoever works on iTunes (at least on a PC), whoever they are needs to be replaced if Apple wants to retain credibility in all these services they force upon users of their products.

Apart from the annoying habit of the keyboard becoming non-responsive in messages app (quit, re-launch to fix) it's been relatively smooth for me.

I am having major syncing issues. I cannot sync any media to my new iPhone without iTunes just stalling. No music or videos on a 128GB iPhone... way to go Apple. The first time I am really disappointed in Apple. Use the money to do some quality control please...

It's not a disaster, but basically half of the year you are stuck using beta software which they fix with .1 release. Just like iOS 7 started feeling like normal software after .1 release.

They must switch to 14-15 months timeframe. Granted it will not solve all bug problems, but it won't be that bad. Also you can release new phone without releasing new IOS version.

Simple bug. While you read this post tap the search forum field, so that you have keyboard on screen. Now tap the share button in safari in the top right corner. See something?

I agree that every 12 months for an big feature set increase is too spoon and agree it ends up sticking everyone with a beta half the time. 7.1.2 was SO SOLID it's a shame to suddenly lose the rock solidness. I think most people would be OK with Apple announcing that they were no longer going to force releases on a set schedule, and instead they would release no software before it's time.

I've noticed a few minor bugs on my iPhone 6. Like I swiped down for Spotlight and instead of blurring my background got grey and pixelated. I wish I would have taken a screenshot. A restart fixed the problem. Safari UI for the horizontal tab switcher can be laggy even with the A8. Overall, nothing major.

----------------

However, on the iPad 3.....*UGH*. I never complained about iOS 7. The UI stutters didn't bug me and it was still usable. iOS 8 is terrible even with a clean restore through iTunes and set up as new device. Safari loads so slow even with spotlight and preload turned off. Safari scrolling freezes and UI freezes.

App openings and the app switcher animation lag so bad that they actually completely disappear. A double click of the home button leads to a 2 second freeze followed by an abrupt snap to the app switcher. Closing an app sometime results in like 3 FPS. I can't even swipe though 3 pages of apps on the home screen without stutters! Turning off all transparency helped, but only barely. I got like another 2 FPS

I know my iPad 3 is "slow" and I'm fine with it being "slow", but now it's unbearable! It took 6 seconds to load forums.macrumors.com and even then I couldn't scroll. I know many users here claim to have no issues with their iPad 3 and I'm glad for them. It is a lot of work to do another restore and load back 45GB of content and redo all my settings so I'll wait for iOS 8.1.

But I will say this: I have not experienced the crashes that I did with iOS 7. iOS 8 seems more stable, just so slow. So unbearably slow.....

Its not a total disaster, meaning I can still use the phone and get by but there are quite a few bugs and even more graphical glitches (like PDF's in app preview not staying in place for a preview) and various quarks. Stability has been ok, I think Ive only had one app crash so far.

We are experiencing a company wide issue with group messaging which we all relied on the native messages app and iMessage.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1785042/

That is turning into somewhat of a nightmare. Now I'm spending my weekend experimenting with 3rd party messaging services like viber and whatsapp as a temporary replacement for the native message app.

Safari has fairly poor performance but it seems disabling spotlight in safari settings seems to help a bit.

I hate to say it but there have been a few guys at work trying to make the push from Apple and this may end up being the straw that broke the camels back (with messaging). They supply my phone so I can't be too upset but I did prefer them using an iPhone as it worked well with my Apple ecosystem. I'm hoping I can just get everyone to transition to a 3rd party messaging app since thats what we'd likely need to do using a competitors device anyway.

I seriously don't see why so many people are complaining about iOS 8. Sure, it's a good size and was almost impossible to do OTA, but that's why a USB cable came with your phone...to plug it into your computer and update through that. It's faster through a PC/Mac anyways.

As far as the bugs and lag goes, I have had no bad experiences with this... I updated and played with it for about a week on my iPhone 5 and had no issues with bugs or lag. No on my 6+ it's even smoother and still no crashes, bugs, etc.

Not too many new features for the user but it was a good one for devs so we'll see what that leads to.

Working great for me. Only annoying thing is the lack of a camera roll album.

I would imagine the vast majority are happy, as they were with is. Even polls here show most people liked is

Sorry, I just have to... fewer features :)

Try thinking that people might not have english as their first language or may suffer from dyslexia before being so condescending about how they write. Grammar nazism should be a banable offence.

Not really on topic, but I couldn't help but laugh when I see all the "disaster" threads listed under "Similar Threads". :p

Here are some issues I've noticed on my iPhone 6:

- When I try to take a screenshot, if I press the lock button just slightly earlier (milliseconds), sometimes my phone locks instead of taking the screenshot.

- Sometimes I can't slide up the camera from the lock screen. Nothing happens until I relock the phone and bring up the lock screen again.

- Sliding over a message on lock screen to go to the message, keyboard covers the most recent messages.

- If you try to make an emergency call when setting up the phone, and you have it in landscape position, then the phone number UI still pops up, but the bottom numbers are off the screen.

Having installed ios8 on my iPad i have to say am utterly unimpressed.

A whole year of development and it runs slower than ios7, with literally nothing new of note - no nice design changes, no killer apps, nada. The calendar is still horrible, the mail client is as bad as ever with exchange support, and Safari just gets slower and buggier.

For comparison, I've upgraded various other systems and devices over the last few months - Windows 7 to 8, RedHat 5 to 6, Windows Server 2008 to 2012, Windows Phone 8 to 8.1 and Mavericks to Yosemite. All of these have delivered measurably better performance than before, on the same hardware.

This update is a joke.

I have some weird ui glitches
