iOS 8 has provided me with battery draining issues and apps closing for no reason...do people think this will be resolved soon or is it better to go back to iOS 7 while we still have the chance

Or for the millionth time apple has yet again engineered an ios update that kills battery life regardless of clean install or backup. My iphone 5 is getting 3 hours max battery.

If this is the "millionth time" that Apple has killed its users' battery life, then why update to a X.0 iOS version when you know it already happened 999,999 previous times?

OK, let's move on from all these minor trivialities and talk about something really important.

The Navigation bar in Safari.

Why were the bookmarks and share icons swapped? That's killing me, just killing me, I say.

I'm having such a hard time with handoff and instant hotspot between iPad air and the 6+. It's ios8

The wifi was really screwing up for me on my iPad air. 2.8 worked ok but 5gz was laggy as hell. Turning off Spotlight suggestion and preload top hit in the safari settings seems to have made it better (for now).

I will not be installing 8 on anymore devices for the foreseeable future. it still feels like a beta product. I guess they were forced to release it since the new phones came out.

How is that not on the news?
The "conversation" about iOS8 problems is starting to leak out of the Apple-specific forums and appear in the general technical press, so I hope Apple was listening to the early feedback.

YOU GUYS. IM A SINGLE PERSON HAVING A COUPLE OF ERRORS USING NEW SOFTWARE. THEREFORE IT'S A DISASTER. IMMA BUY A GALAXY.

Like yo. Software has bugs, especially when you unleash it to millions at once who then find and report problems. It's not a disaster.

People love to whine.

Well, I just downgraded my phone to 7.1.2. Don't think it will be resolved quickly, I will probably wait for at least an 8.1 release before considering the upgrade again.

Downgrade while you still can!

As someone mentioned, the related threads list on the bottom is funny with links to iOS 7 is a disaster and ios 6 is a disaster threads

I was going to post a screenshot but image upload really does not work from safari in ios 8.

I would add I have seen the safari lock up and lag issues on my iPhone 5 and not on my iPad air. I have another 5 and a mini to upgrade but will hold off for now.

Clearly some of the new "functionality" with safari is not working correctly on some devices. I am turning off all the search and pre features on my devices for now (even iPad air where I don't see an issue)

Well, after downgrade battery life is so much better, night and day difference.

Oh that was about iOS 8 and the rest of the following paragraph was about something else? Seemed like it all was about that something else.

That's what a forum is right? where people talk about things and open up new discussions. If of you don't like what a forum is, i suggest you go back to reddit or wherever you came from.

I just went back to 7.1.2 from 8.0, and there's a reason for that. I, and many others, are aware of that not all software works perfectly on release. This isn't the case with iOS 8. It is completely under par with what you should expect.

Let's begin with the keyboard. I had problems with this lag, I'm not sure if many others had the same problem. If I wanted to search something in Safari, write a note, or sometimes messages, it would freeze completely for 2-7 seconds. Typed a couple of characters, and it froze. This happened especially when I used backspace. I managed to fix it though. Disabling iCloud Drive seemed to fix it, but this should NOT be necessary.

My experience was the same. I have downgraded from ios 8 to 7.1.2 on my ipad mini. It was like using one of those $79 tablets you can get at a supermarket.

I'm not making any comment about anybody else's experience. My experience was dreadful. The number and severity of the bugs will need more than a quick 8.0.1 or 8.0.2 to fix. Might be a month or two away.

So glad I was still able to downgrade.

I don't know why I tried another x.0 release. It just seemed like such a through DP process. I just need to remember not to touch 9.0

Severely flawed?? really? How is that not on the news?

That's what I want to know. Give it a few days.

You indeed see the same whining after every major iOS update. iOS 7 was equally vilified (if not more, because it also featured a major UI revision), yet now it's being upheld as some model of stability. From my experience, iOS 7 had more noticeable crashing and stability issues at the outset, and they had largely gone away after 7.0.4 came out a couple of months later. If people don't want to deal with the bugs that always accompany a X.0 release, then they should wait until after the first few waves of revisions.

Yes please will everyone stop badmouthing Apple and stop complaining about problems with IOS 8 and IOS 7. You're making me very sad because I love Apple and their 15 Trillion dollars. I don't care if they can't get it right the 1st time we're not paying that much for Apple products, I don't even know how they can do it for so cheap.

They'll get it right eventually, just buy a Windows phone or a Samsung tablet, while you're waiting for them to get their act together:(

:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple: forever. Give me freedom or give me Apple.

Have you tried resolving your battery issues? And which apps? I'm not having apps close, but a couple of resprings in settings.

Thankfully, it's still possible to downgrade to 7.1.2! I just did that on my iPad, which is back to its old snappiness and a GOOD version of Safari. My iPhone5 still works well enough with iOS 8, and I love the Swype keyboard, so I'll stick with iOS 8 on that.

I suffered through the messes with the previous iOS versions, but now I've learned my lesson. No more early adoption. I didn't volunteer to help Apple beta test iOS 8.

The main problem is performance, but there are glitches, too, all around. Another big deal is apps. Why didn't developers update them months ago? Man this is annoying!

The thead is about iOS 8. The post I originally replied to was essentially about the iPhone release, and unrelated to iOS 8.There's a concept of topics and threads when it comes to forums if that's where this discussion went. But since that's really off topic anyway for this thead, no point of rehashing the same thing anyway.

How do I down grade iPad 2 to ios7?

Wife's ipad2 is all messed up since the ios8 upgrade. I am looking into how I change it back to ios7.

Yeah I keep the brightness at 40 percent, turned off push emails and turned off background refresh for all apps. No luck sadly :( do you have any tips??

Ehm mainly Spotify and Podcasts. Yeah settings all restarts for me as well.
