Does anybody know if it's possible to get a refund 2 moths after buying it? I kind of lost faith in the 'Pro' thing. My iPad Mini 4 will suffice for basic stuff, I can wait augmenting to a 'Pro' usage when Apple is ready, not worth $1000 to be their guinea pig. Going to Genius Bar today to hopefully get a replacement (who knows how many more days I'll have to wait).

Well Apple did want to make its new PC user converts feel at home ;)

Just kidding, Windows stability is a lot better these days.
My Windows 10 can easily run 17 days in a row without restart, after disabling automatic update.
I run Windows 10 enterprise.
After swapping faulty SSD on my Mac, I hope things would be a little bit better now.

The 9.3.2 download has been changed. The version number has not changed though.

On day zero, my phone automatically downloaded the update file (I didn't install) and it was 89.9MB. I deleted it just for giggles even though I know will automatically download again.

Well I checked my new software update file that got downloaded last night... Now it's 200MB for 9.3.2, so Apple changed something. Sure as heck am not going to install it though.

Maybe the later package contains something more valuable? Or the total opposite?
Yeah, I have no Idea either. But I am just curious about it

Well I have a M$ Surface Pro and I can tell you it's terrible, big big gap between iPad and Surface Pro. So no, W10 on Surface is absolute nogo. Have to reboot multiple times a day to get rid of strange bugs.
9.3.2 on the other hand is the first iOS after 6.x that works fine on my iPad 3 ;)

It's always the Twins that get hit when time or budget get tight.

Testing and Training :(
IIRC, iOS releases have been open to the public for beta testing for about a year now, so it's surprising that none of those folks seemed to have flagged the issue, either.

My wife uses a Surface Pro for work and hates it. Constantly disconnects from keyboard and crashes all the time. Screen orientation upside down at times as well. Another friend of mine got his Surface Pro a year ago and bragged about it until it died a month ago. So no the Surface Pro is not some magical replacement.

So does it work now?

So seems that we are on the opposite anyway. ;)

Well....good news is Apple total stepped up and took care of me as a result of Error 56.

There is no Apple store near me but was traveling to NYC yesterday and made an appointment. They determined it needed to be replaced but they didn't have any replacement units available. INSTEAD....they returned my iPad Pro 9.7" 256gb and exchanged it for a new retail unit. PLUS, since my Apple Care wouldn't transfer automatically, they gave me the Applecare+ for free and told me to call to get a refund on my remaining coverage ($90!).

All in all I got my iPad replaced plus $90 for the struggles.

I can confirm I was affected by this problem on my iPad Pro 9.7

Did OTA for 9.3.2, it failed. Connect to iTunes 12.4 and tried to update or restore, both failed. I did get the error code 56.

Called Apple Support. Worked with them to collect local logs on my iMac related to trying to install the update and sent those to Apple. Eventually they called back and said with my AppleCare they are going to process a replacement for iPad.

My guess is the HW update might have moved some files around on the disk which prevents recovery.

iPad Pro 9.7" 128GB Slate Grey Wifi+Cellular REPLACED

My iPad Pro which was bricked with error code 56 has been replaced by Apple retail today. I don't know what version of iOS is on it yet, but rest assured I won't try this update again.

I'm curious to know if people with the iPad Pro 9.7" 128gb wifi+cellular models saw it get bricked when upgrading with iTunes...anyone have that happen? Mine was bricked using the OTA update.

They were able to re-create the error code 56 in the store.

How did you do the update? Other the Air (OTA) or via iTunes?

My Pro 9.7 128 WIFI+Cell also died via OWA update. Apple Support said it would need to be replaced. They set up the appt and got to the store, they were able to recreate the issue. They had none in stock, but took new one out of the box for me and replaced. The Store said that Apple HAS PULLED THE UPDATE so that IPAD-PRO will not see the update. Will not try :)...

Well it's not pulled yet on my Pro 9.7"

That's how they should be handling this with everyone who had their iPad bricked.

Nor on mine, I just spoke to AppleCare and they said they'd never heard of the issue.. But he booked me an appointment at my local Apple Store so I could update while in-store in case something goes wrong;)

Got mine replace today, it was very quick. They recommended I waited until a new software update is available.

I have an iPad Pro 9.7" and it's bricked after an ota update to 9.3.2 (error 56). I've seen so many responses now having the same experience, that I conclude that this is something serious and Apple needs to address it.

Apple support can not help you. You either send it in or go to an Apple Store (after making an appointment) to get a "new" iPad to replace the bricked one... untill Apple releases a 9.3.3 update.

What I hate about all of this: you did nothing wrong, your iPad Pro was fine and Apple provided you with an update with security improvements to update. After this update your iPad Pro is bricked. Do they send you a carrier that exchanges your iPad Pro with a working one, since you have Pro product that you use for work on a daily basis... Nope. Send it in and wait a week or take time off and travel to a store... If you provide Pro products, you should provide Pro service standard!

I agree, at least the store will give you a new in the box unit. While they were swapping mine, which took all of about 10 minutes from getting there to finish, they were doing it for two other people as well. I have found if you speak up they will give you a new unit. What's even better is they gave me new Apple care so I got a new unit with full apple care not prorated. Again i agree that it would be better if nothing happened. But from my Windows Laptop days of being without a unit for MONTHS while it was being repaired, after only having it three months, it could be worse. As for the update I checked and it is still saying it is available. I guess the guy at the store meant they would pull it not they have pulled it.
