Android has had Widgets since Day one, It had free syncing of Calender and contacts and instant email. It had its great notification scheme since day one and It has had lock screen info for a while. This adds really no new features to the platform. I think apple is losing their spark.

Wow. Widgets, notifications and lock screen info. Major platform level innovation there.

Why didn't Google or Palm or Microsoft or Nokia design a phone as good as the iPhone in 2007?

I know it is now the ancient past but do you remember what phones were like before the iPhone? Smartphone folks had RIM and Treo. People were excited about the Razr and LG Chocolate.

IMHO Apple does the large innovation, then other guys come in and add 5 features three years later and then Apple gets slammed for not having those features.

Android's notification system is better than iPhone. Wow. These other jokers wouldn't have multi-touch today if Apple didn't introduce it. I honestly believe that.

Here is what Android was going to be before they realized Apple was right:
http://techcrunch.com/2007/12/17/android-prototype-lets-hope-looks-can-be-deceiving/

These guys were all building physical keyboards, letting carriers fill the phone with crap, and struggling to figure out how to get music and media on their phones in an iPod/iTunes dominated world. They had no clue.

I'm not saying that Apple is done. They need to continue to innovate, they need to improve.

Apple invents the car. Google adds cupholders to the car 2 years later.

I am an android lover it is a great platform. I don't get all of these arguments iOS and android does not work for everyone. both have flaws and both have their perks neither is better then the other.

I am also a member of an android forum. Guess what we get trolls from time to time. the difference is that people on this forum feel the need to jump out and defend apple. Simple solution ignore them. Don't feed the trolls.

Also contrary to popular beliefs Android did not copy apple. Yes we always look at that picture of android looking more like black Berry OS. Then we see the finished version and some people clame that they copied apple. now however if you use android you will notice it still very similar to blackberry OS. Both OS have a home screen with the often used apparently and the remainder of the Apps are in the apparently menu. Android was going the way to be optimized for a non touch screen then it was changed to allow it to be optimized fir touch screen. The main similarity in both of the two OSs is the home screen. sambian had apparently laid out across the hone screen so did several other smart phone OS's. face it Google did not clone iOS to make android.

Hey now, lets not bash feature phones, at least they had 4-5 day batter life.

I think people are slamming iOS now because Apple was cryin about being copied all the time. Guess what, this is the tech industry. Patent lawsuits will be filed all the time. Its the way the game goes.

These other jokers wouldn't have multi-touch today if Apple didn't introduce it. I honestly believe that.

HAHAHA. Multi-touch displays are not the invention of Apple, for cryin out loud, the iPhone(s) use Samsung/LG based capacitive displays. The fact that you think that Apple created multi-touch demonstrates why so many folks are frustrated and blind Apple fanboys. Guess what, back in '06, the mobile industry was FULLY aware that multi-touch displays were the future of phones, hence why the LG Prada was the first capacitive phone, not the iPhone. The iPhone was the first commercially successful multi-touch phone, thats it.

Why didn't Google or Palm or Microsoft or Nokia design a phone as good as the iPhone in 2007?

Because no matter what, the original iPhone set a bar high up for smartphones. People expect a lot more now than the past.

Apple invents the car. Google adds cupholders to the car 2 years later.

More like Apple invents the car, then Google adds cruise control a year later. Then 4 years after the first car, Apple finally adds cruise control as well.

And now they all have cruise control, so what's the problem? Everyone should be happy.

Apple focuses on user experiences by giving as much battery power as possible, great design, etc. Simplicity. iPhone has gone through several changes since 2007. Now, it has improved batteries and chips consuming less. iOS 5 has a lot of new features that are potential to have some impact on the battery life. I wonder, if the next iphone has even better battery life. Android does not have much native features. They got of features via third party apps. iPhone could have those features, but only through jailbrake. It is about timing. It is hard to find android phone with real good battery life without making any adjustments. iOS 5 is sweet!

More like...

In a time when everyone was riding around on horseback, Apple invents the car, and then later Android builds a really ****** car with bad gas mileage.

Then Apple makes a Ferrari Coupe and Android builds a Chrysler Lebaron. They argue that the lebaron is a convertible and the Ferrari is a coupe.

The Ferrari then gets the option for a convertible later but the Lebaron is still the Lebaron with its crappy gas milege...

Who are you guys kidding...

Android is trash.

I never said Apple *created* multi-touch displays. I said Apple *introduced* it to the world in a viable, expertly designed product. Again, you say the mobile industry was FULLY aware...where were the real products that successfully implented the feature?

2007 and prior was the land of physical chicklet keyboards and resistive touch screens. RIM, Treo, Symbian and some Win Mobile. They all laughed at the iPhone's lack of a physical keyboard, don't you remember that?

iOS will never catch up to Android.

Keep in mind Andoid is free and open source, while iOS is closed and proprietary.

34% voice call isn't that impressive and is in fact just about right for most competent smart phones phones out there if you have good signal.

I say that's pretty impressive. If you do the math that talking on the phone for 489 mins out of a 24 hr period....

That's not bad..

See, that's why we will always have troll threads of iOS VS Android. Just too many blinded die hard Apple fanboys.

This place is like a fu****g school playground.

"My phones the best."

"No, my phone's the best."

Guess what? My phone works just the way I want it to. Does yours? Good, I'm happy for you. We're all fu****g happy.

Oh yeah, well MY phone has more trojans than yours, so nyah! :)

The crappy gas mileage was allegorical to battery life.

Yes Android had a couple merits, but iOS had way more, and now that iOS got what android had, yet android didn't get what iOS has, it means android is playing catchup.

I haven't said anything irrational so don't use the negative connotation of fanboi towards me. Even so, I wouldn't deny being one. In fact I am a fan of the company. Welcome to our world btw. You're in our house now sucka!

Android is trash.

I wouldn't make such a bold claim and call myself rational.
And how does Android have "couple merits" when it is trash?

Your post was very Bias. You are aware you compared to OSs and used hardware as your example?

ONE Samsung galaxy S destroys the Iphone 4 in battery life. So the main arguement you where capitalizing on is wrong. Second Android on many phones runs without any flaws or lags. Have you even used a decent android phone? Or did you go in to the store and ask to use the oldest and slowest phone in the display section. (most likely a thousand people have opened some random apps on it and they are all open and slowing it down.)

Fact is iOS and Android are two different OSs. Its like comparing Peaches to Oranges. None of the OSs is better then the other. Right now it just using the one that fits your needs. Android sucks for your needs I take it. Guess what iOS is horrible for all my needs.

Keep in mind Andoid is free and open source, while iOS is closed and proprietary.

Why would an end-user give a damn about "free" and "Open Source"? 95% of users couldn't care less about compiling the OS from the source, rooting their device ('free', eh?) and flashing it. Especially when there are perfectly decent factory ROMs out there. Hell, most people that are driven to such lengths only do it because they've been waiting so long for their device to be updated.

Like notifications which was a thing even many iPhone owners themselves admitted they wanted and obviously Apple agreed and answered with a notification system and Android had that for awhile.

No I was not aware and I stand corrected.

ONE Samsung galaxy S destroys the Iphone 4 in battery life.
DESTROYS? More like its on par. (considering its not as smooth, its a moot point)

So the main arguement you where capitalizing on is wrong.
I was capitalizing on the fact that its not smooth or designed as beutifully Second Android on many phones runs without any flaws or lags.
Lack of smoothness, while not neccesarily full out "lag," is still a flaw compared to the iPhone
Have you even used a decent android phone?
Ive used some yes. But not the Galaxy S, but I saw videos. Or did you go in to the store and ask to use the oldest and slowest phone in the display section. (most likely a thousand people have opened some random apps on it and they are all open and slowing it down.)

Your needs sound highly complicated.

I dont have any specific needs that either one or the other could not do, I just see a clear difference in iOS and its design and smoothness and eleganace and practicality.

I go for what is best.

Android has a lot to offer as does iOS. It doesn't matter who likes what as long as they're happy with their device. No sense in being ******s about it.
