This will be

Such a sweet idevice... The inclusion of SD slot is in line with MBAir design as well.

Proof will be in whether Apple ship with aluminum or acrylic chassis...

iPad 2 will leave behind the competitors once again for another year at least...both in price, build quality and technology...

How about battery?

If Apple uses high performance CPU and GPU, would the battery last long enough to gain excellence user experience?

i don´t care about the high res on the ipad. I want "Retina" on my MBP 15"!!!:D

The problem with that is all of your menus, and most of your application interfaces would be really... really tiny. Mac OS X needs a resolution independent interface to support desktop "retina" displays. But who knows, this could be one of the not yet announced features of Lion. I'm not too optimistic about that of course. I would think Apple would give developers more notice than a few months to adapt their applications.

I don't think Apple will separate iPad models of the same generation by performance. Apple hasn't even announced how much RAM any iDevices have had, we only know because of the teardowns. So they aren't going to make the consumers wonder do I need 512MB or 1GB of RAM in my iPad?

It just doesn't go with the simplicity of the platform.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple kept the current iPad for sale, perhaps selling it for $50 to $100 off the current price. They've done the same thing with the iPhones (the 3GS has half the RAM and a slower processor compared to the iPhone 4).

Apple knows their gear WILL sell. They can throw their army of R&D at the next gen devices and never worry about losing money on a product. Plus they can sign up massive contracts with manufacturers with huge discounts who'll build entire factories just for Apple. Not many other companies enjoy this amount of confidence in future products.

This is the iPad I want. Cameras for document scanning. A retina display for paper-like document viewing. Anyone want to buy an iPad1??

I have the 16 gig wifi/3g ipad. I'll sell that mofo for $400.00 and throw in the rest when ipad 2 drops.
But as it stands, the ipad 1 is a bad a** mofo baby! I love this thing!!!!

History shows v2 of an Apple product is usually significantly better than v1.

Not to me. The iPhone 3G had gps and 3G. Nothing else. The iPod touch 2g was a little thinner and had a small speaker. The nano and classic were small too I believe. Idk about Mac but prob the same thing. the apple tv was smaller and lost space but can stream, again nothing huge.

I would be shocked if the iPad could run games at the new resolution using something like the Infinity Blade engine. I mean, can you imagine? It would look incredible!

I really hope the GPU is up to it.

All I know is my iPhone4 is plenty fast. I don't need dual anything to make me need a new one. Better battery life and a larger display without getting a larger phone is all I care about. If the hardware is true, great as long as the other cool features of the Phone don't suffer.

"4 times as capable at video and grafic tasks"
Well how fast is that?
Like PSP/PS2/Wii or PS3?
Any one who knows?

Well, since the iPad has more graphics grunt than a Wii, 4x the graphics grunt will be exceeding the 360/PS3's horsepower (which use essentially a dumbed down GeForce 8600 chip). This is entirely feasible.

New games being designed to take control of the hi res display/GPU/CPU
and leaving 1st gen iPad owners and iP4 owners behind. That's my worry.

Well, by that reasoning iPhone 3G/S owners would have been left behind when the iPhone 4 was released, since it has quadruple the pixels:p Were they? Nope. It's incredibly easy to scale up a game's res and appropriately replace textures.

And thus, we leave this up to the devs :p

I'll probably sell my iPad when they announce the event, anyways

So much expectation. I'm loving it. Hopefully it'll come true, but again it's Apple. It's either gonna be like Christmas or there's gonna be a few broken hearts.

Dual-core CPU and GPU with a 2048x1536 resolution (above 1080p)?

Color me skeptical- but that said, I think it's time to put the iPad on craigslist. I didn't believe the 960x640 iPhone rumors either; figured that resolution was impossibly high.

Check this out

If the above screen is capable of the stated 1920 x 1080 then i can see a larger screen being able to reach 2048x1536

News about the next iPad and iPhone keep getting better by day.
Engadget is right (previous article), we're going to be seeing an amazing iPad and iPhone.
I'm so glad I skipped the iPhone 4 as well. I'm still on an iPhone 3G, so when I get the new iPhone 5, it'll be a huge overkill for me, I'm loving it.

Now a lot of people would say "then wait for an iPhone 6" but the reason I held off was because I didn't see any worth to getting an iPhone 3GS, or iPhone 4, but I'll be very happy with the next one if these rumors are true. (which they are)

You should hold out for the iPad v3 then. It's gonna be WAAAYYYY better than the iPad v2.

Me too, however I've been enjoying v1 for almost a year now as well. I hear v4 is going to be the bomb, I think you should wait for that. OTOH, v9 will be truly epic so perhaps it would make more sense to wait for that one? It has also been said that v11 will put all others in history to shame, that is until v12 arrives.

You are 100% correct! I think I will just skip v3 and v4 and wait for v5 as that will be way way wayyyyy better:rolleyes:

I'm getting really tired of these weak attempts at humor.
We didn't jump on V1 because it lacked a VERY BASIC feature that every $200 netboook has, A WEBCAM. This was a complete deal breaker for a lot of us. The screen is horrid compared to the iPhone 4, I hate to even look at it in the store now. V2 should have a better res screen, and definitely Facetime. We're not waiting for the BEST, we're waiting for the MINIMUM of what we want from a tablet.

What are they building? An iPad or a MBP tablet? Why a iPad needs such I high resolution screen is anybody's guess.

Have you seen a Retina display? Have you looked at magazines on it? It's the difference between looking at a pixelated computer screen and looking at a real magazine. The reason for the high resolution is to get rid of "pixels".

Hooray! $7000 ipad!

Can you imagine?!?

I can!!!

I'd seriously consider buying one...

...if it really contained $7000 worth of advanced technology in it.

Super quality 21.5" HD screen, cell and satellite communications, tough light case, shockproof and waterproof, ultrafast processors and graphics, 24 hour battery, wind-up generator for emergency charging, ultraslim boombox speakers, 1/4" thick and weighs 4.9 lbs.

Yeah, I could see buying a $7,000 iPad.

(You wouldn't want to hear what my first computer cost!)

I'm very happy about the retina display. After the iPhone 4, the iPad screen seems pixelated.

My biggest complaint is the RAM. I hope it goes 1G. I really dislike the screen refreshes in safari.

This is actually less sharp than the iPhone 4. Everything looks way better on these hi-res (~300dpi) displays. When I got my hands on an iPad at the Apple Store I was actually disappointed by the display, especially compared to the iPhone 4.
