yeah i'm headed to the Skokie/Old Orchard store around 9:30. May not get one but I can't get there earlier. If not I'll show up earlier Thursday.

course I'm making it hard on myself looking for a 64GB AT&T 3G Black model.

Sad to admit it felt like getting punched in the gut....so defeated going back to work empty handed.

Are you lining up tomorrow morning? I have my doubts that they will have big shipments two days in a row...serious doubts......especially when many apple stores in the Chicagoland area got 0 or very few ipads today. Do you think the "flagship" gets that many more?
 
I will be passing by Old Orchard for work purposes, so I will likely drop in just in case, but since that won't be til past noon I don't have high hopes. But hey, maybe the fedex truck will be late, or nobody else will want my model. 🙂
 
I heard the rumor of a Monday restock and played 'hooky' from work...only to find nothing at Michigan and Lincoln Park. I even called around to Northbrook and Skokie, and no luck. Talk about a day-off wasted. 😡

I reserved a 32gb Black/Wi-Fi at the Clark St Best Buy, but I'm still willing to try and find an iPad 2 if I can. The goal is to find one before I make my trip to Des Moines for my cousin's wedding. Mainly I want one to give it a cross-country workout.

And as someone can attest to, it does feel that Chicago is just some kind of Big City that is considered a big city to make the country bumpkins feel good about themselves. This ridiculous non-stocking even extends to my toy-collecting: I haven't found any of the two lines I'm interested in in over 3-4 months.

I'd ask if someone can pick me up what I'm looking for, but given that it seems the Apple Stores can't get any iPad 2 stock less than 10-15, I doubt anyone would. Heck, I'd treat the person who helped to lunch or dinner (I know a great sushi place in Lincoln Park).
 
Based on what the Manager at the LP store told me today, iPad 2 allocations are based on previous sales and because the store is new they likely will be under-shipped until Apple can get a better handle on the demand at this new store. Totally sucks but it atleast explains why they have received nothing since Friday and the Mich Ave store got 100-125 this morning at opening.
 
I would be very very surprised if Michigan Ave gets another big shipment tomorrow morning. It just wouldn't make much sense to me...but then again, nothing that Apple does makes sense to me.....that's why they're making billions of dollars.
 
30 people already? Wow....I was thinking about stopping by Northbrook Court just to see if I was lucky, guessing that's not realistick. Glad I ordered one online (even if the ship date isn't until April 19!).
 
Yay I scored a 16gb black WiFi ticket at 6am (manager felt bad I came out so early). He said they would have a few of 16gb black WiFi, and various sizes of Verizon versions in black. I was there for 10 mins so I decided to go go Naperville. They have none coming in today. Currently I am at woodfield waiting. Manager said there may be a shipment and if there was it would only be black WiFi version in 16 and 32. Just thought I'd spread the info since I'm fairly content with how my morning turned out.
 
Okay update from northbrook.

10, black 16gig wifi.
4, white 32gig Verizon.
1,white 64gig Verizon.

I was lucky number 7. Line reached critical mass at 35, with people trickling in still... Then walking away disappointed.

Just got myself a 32 gig Verizon.

Thank you for that update. I was considering going out there to try my luck. The 1-year-old and I have such cabin fever I just thought we should get out regardless. At least the sun is shining today.🙄 F Chicago weather.
 
Not the apple store, but . . .

anyone looking for 32gb wifi only, seems like target has quite a few around the chicago area (just from looking at the info on the target thread). The Cicero store even shows "availability" while a few others show limited availability.

"In Stock" meant 2 units at the store I went to yesterday; "Limited" meant 1 unit. YMMV. Hint: check stores in more outlying areas, the stock I mention here was at the Target in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
 
Morning update

Michigan ave store had a line past mburger at 9:15. That's about 100 n ystday they ran out around 80th person

at Lincoln now, all vauchers already allocated. I'm 10th on "stand by", but 5 Asian reseler in front of me 🙁

"I stopped by my local target today and then electronics gentlemen said they would get 10 of them. They had some dpci hanging in the ipad case but not all. Here are the ones they had:

How to make the Target DPCI checker work:
Go to: http://sites.target.com/site/en/spot...11&storeNumber
Take out the "001-01-0011" section in the address bar and add in your own DPCI with dashes
While in the address bar, press Enter so it registers that you've changed the address
On the website, type in your Zip Code and click "Go"
Do this for any DPCI that you have and enjoy!!
No ASIN required!


This was working for me before, not sure why it isn't now "
