This is my first iPad and I'm blown away. It's exactly what I've needed for portability and usefulness. I love my Mac Mini and this is the perfect match.

I chose a cover that wasn't a Smart Cover, as amazing as they seem. I opted for the Griffin Élan Folio Slim.

It's not elegant by any means, but it's very functional. It protects the back which I liked. It's the same price as a Smart Cover at Best Buy.

I found this link which I thought was very helpful with 50 iPad tips. I've been doing Google searches on tips and tricks.

My only concern is with having to double click the home button to see the open apps. I know I can downloadtion software that will allow me to use the five finger motion to do the same. I'd prefer Apple to include it in the next software upgrade and the sooner the better.
Everyone, enjoy your iPad!

Just got mine dropped off by UPS and first impressions are very good indeed. This is an upgrade from a 16Gb iPad, primarily so my wife can get that and the Hackintosh can get used for something other than her main machine, so I did a quick bit of side-by-side testing with both devices having just had a reboot.

The newer model feels noticeably faster with 'noticeable' ranging from slightly snappier to 'holy moly' levels of performance. General use (web browsing, twitter, e-mail etc) is definately improved and sites like engadget show big performance gains. There's also way less checkerboarding while scrolling through complex pages which is a plus. Big performance gains are more noticeable in heavier duty work, loading up Infinity Blade for instance was almost silly-fast when comparing the two devices. Performance is definately impressive too, Real Racing 2 HD looks incredible, what the heck are these devices going to be doing in a couple of years time?

Really like the new body, it's not THAT much lighter but it definately fools you into thinking it is with the new shape giving a more natural grip. The screen seems a bit better than the old one, brighter and maybe a bit warmer, but frankly that could just be down to manufacturing differences rather than a design change. And before anyone says it, no, I'm not going to go looking for backlight bleeding. In a normal room under normal lighting the screen is fine and that's good enough for me.

Hopefully I'll update this when I've had a bit more time (right now I'm restoring the old iPad to factory settings so my wife can start using it tonight, if I don't get this done I'm a dead man). First impressions though, thumbs up and nice job Apple.

Tried to justify why I don't need one, however could come up with no reasons.

A black 32GB with red smart cover should arrive in May to compliment my 32GB iPad 1. Stoked.

Hello it's so nice to meet you all! Congratulations on purchasing and receiving your new awesome toys!

I just received my iPad 2 yesterday and I have to admit it's pretty awesome! Even if it does have some bleeding around the edges, it doesn't seem to bother me as much as I thought it would. Waiting was the hardest part, and that's after my delivery date got pushed up by a few weeks! It was completely worth it. ( Technically I've been waiting months because I originally wanted to purchase the iPad 1, but decided to wait longer just in case. ) That being said, I've never really held one that wasn't tethered to a display..so I wouldn't swear it's incredibly light. This ipad was worth the money and I couldn't be happier to be holding one! (but I can't hold it right now because I'm trying to let the back screen protector cure) ^^;; I hope that everyone keeps having fun while playing and discovering new things with their iPads as well!

Congrats to you on your new iPad Shiro! Mine comes on Monday.

Nice pics as well but I was expecting to see a green iPad case. :)

No pic yet upgrading my Ipad 1 to 2.

A few weeks to wait but ordered a white case in leather. I went for the Black Ipad so I can make it look like a white one too. :D

I have one reserved waiting for me, driving to the city to pick it up tomorrow at 9am; cannot wait!! :) It's a 32gb wifi but I have no idea what color - it's a surprise! I'll post pictures if I remember.

first impressions

After five weeks of telling myself I needed another full OS laptop (when I can't use laptops due to wrist issues) I finally managed to snag a white 32gb wifi iPad 2 at a NYC best buy on Friday.

I've been skeptical about the iPad because I use my computers to write. But I also really like the iOS functionality of the iPhone. I'm thrilled I can do both on the iPad. Looking forward to Final Draft and MovieMagic Screenwriter's apps whenever they get around to releasing them.

Over the last three days, it's been nothing but a joy to use. No eye/wrist issues, lightweight, a cinch to use, and, in my case, it's now an iPhone killer.

PROS:

Movies look killer on this, even those I converted to iPhone 3GS size look wonderful.

I like that videos and the iPod are separate apps.

Email and Calendar are even more functional.

Battery life is killer (I probably still won't need to charge until tomorrow night). I'm not commuting with it yet (waiting for a case that'll put up with this) so I use it about 2-3 hours a day.

iBooks is a joy with one exception. Love that I can read my screenplays in almost standard paper size.

Nice that:

standard headphones work with the iPad.

It's ready to go right out of the box.

CONS:

The virtual keyboard > is a little cramped and I'm still getting used to it: but I bought a wireless keyboard so for heavy duty writing I'll just go with that.

iBooks > the syncing of PDFs in iTunes only. That's something I really hope Apple addresses in iOS 5.

Google in Safari, the main google page the text is ridiculously small but as long as the resulting pages aren't that same size I can live with this.

Ironically the iPad was my first choice of portable 6 weeks ago, glad I came back around to it because with an Apple desktop there really is no need for me to get anything else.

It serves many of my needs and is fun to use. And it'll save me money in the long run.

I thought I would mind white but the color of the iPad is a non-issue for me. Just glad I got one.

Cross the skeptic in me off the list :)

Enjoy your ipads everyone.

Bought mine last Wednesday and after a few days I have to say it's awesome. I've opened my macbook like 3 times since I got it. I wasn't really feeling the smart cover so I'm taking it back in favor of the incase jacket/stand....

Awesome

It is rumored/believe/almost-proved that Apple had the cameras ready to roll last year but held back for reasons of price.

And I'm quite glad too. I was in the State Dept recently getting a new passport and like all gov't buildings there were no cameras allowed and a lengthy wait. Since I had the iPad one and not the two (yet, it's on it's way) I was allowed to use my iPad to read. If I had had the 2 I would not have been allowed to have it on. I had to power off my phone completely. (annoying, why not just leave it at the bottom of my purse? sheesh)

Just thought I would share my first couple weeks with my iPad. Bought it for my partners birthday but I keep hogging the thing :D it's the 16gb White wifi. It's fantastic. I've got absolutely no issues with it, It's so light and super fast. Everywhere I go people are wanting a shot of it :D made my father in law pretty jelous that I think he's away to buy himself one.

I bought the orange smart cover too for it, the two just work like magic together. People ask me why I didn't get the bigger version and I'm so glad I didn't pay the extra for it because of home share I can stream everything I want over from my MacBook.

It's just a magical experience

Thanks for the link for the iPad tips :)

Apple iPad 2 is the world best gadget I ever buy. This is 33% more slim than original iPad and 15% lighter that original. This iPad 2 look so stylish and funky I cant say it.I am the fan of Apple product. Thanks

My IPAD2 review - for whatever its worth :)

I was getting ready to take a trip and last minute decided to get an IPAD 2. My local Apple store has some, helps being in rural area with a mom and pop apple store :) I got the 32gb wifi only in white along with a leather case with built in bluetooth keyboard. The wife does not like typing on it. case - http://shop.brando.com/ipad-2-case-with-bluetooth-keyboard_p05549c0299d057.html

I loaded some TV shows and little music on the Ipad and off we went to the airport.

Pros
1. light weight, battery life, ease of carrying
2. TV shows, movies play great. Even with finger smudges on the screen the movies came out crystal clear. A lot better than watching the in-flight movie.
3. game apps to pass the time.
4. Once at our destination. The wifi worked great. I was fixing someone's wifi and used the Ipad for testing.
5. Battery, after watching 3 hour long tv shows (not quite an hour with no commercials) playing some games that battery was still at 77%.
6. Bluetooth connection to keyboard was simple and worked great.

Cons
Ill let you know if I find any. I did not notice any problems with back-lighting or yellow tinting. It performed beyond expectations. I will say I am not hard pressed looking for any little issue's so little back-lighting or something is not going to make me hate it.

Great purchase and I just got one for my mother-in law. Going to work on getting everyone family member who is across county one so we all can face-time :)

5 out of 5 starts...

...

It is a great product, i saw an original ipad in a store the other day and it looks bulky compared to the ipad 2. Despite their claims the battery on the ipad 2 isnt as good as the original...its still good just not as good. For the average user the ipad does the job better than a macbook if it is your second machine
