iPad 2 UK Thread

just to summeriza my findings

Viaddress seems to have the best mail forwarding prices​
Buying from Amazon.com (if they have the in stock) will save you getting charged any US sales tax (as Viadress is based in Indiana)​
There's no UK duty on iPads​
Declaring a lower (but feasible) amount could reduce uk vat​
 
Hello I'm new here :)

II'll probably wait until launch day to try and get mine (white 64gb 3G) I'm hoping as JL site says the 25th I can order and collect from the store. I've also signed up for notifications from PC World and Apple UK so hopefully I'll get my hands on one. I cant wait it'll be my first iPad!!
 
there will be queues, but i doubt anything like iPad 1... or iPhone 4's

i couldn't see the iPad 2 on the PC world website... has it gone funny as it's not rendering correctly in Firefox or IE (yes, i'm currently on winblows)

Its working ok for me on FF, its on the front page with the button for 'notify me'

Problem is you cant use a UK credit card on Apple.com US site, yet the VIAddress concierge service button doesn't work at all.

Any ideas ? what are other people here doing ?
 
i've decided its best to wait until the 25th. have a mate in NYC until sunday, but she doesnt have space to bring 2 back, and another friend is already getting one (i explained they are 33% thinner, but no dice)

dont want to risk anything getting stuck in customs for months.

will be annoyed if i cant get one on the 25th or 26th though, got a weeks skiing holiday from the 27th!
 
So, does anyone reckon they'll be doing any of this 5pm nonsense in the UK? I doubt it. As long as there's pre-orders I couldn't give a monkeys, but if not, 5pm would actually be great for me as I finish work at 2pm that day.

Been thinking, is there really much point ordering from eBay or throuhg somewhere like bundlebox ? Stores open at 5pm on the 11th, so they won't be able to ship until Monday, delivery will take 3 to 6 days and it will be held up in customs for a few days too. It's very possible it wouldn't arrive till around the 23rd anyway.

Got my current iPad via Bundlebox, arrived with them 3rd April 10, I had it in the UK in my hands on the 7th April 10 Great service, they are well organised.

How much did u pay for the iPad VAT?? how bout the total with shipping ?

Thats all well and good but to my knowledge they are not taking iPad 2 orders :D

I ordered the iPad myself on Apple US and had it delivered to Bundlebox
 
Got my ipad 2 16gb ordered :D

Ideally would of liked 32gb, but i realised it was quite unecessary. I bought it off a ebay seller in the US, it wasn't the cheapest and after tax will cost me about £40 than it would of here. But he is a fantastic seller, he has answered all my questions and has been very helpful, has made me very confident in my purchase. He's pretty sure i'll get it by the 19th March too, which would be very nice indeed :cool:

wow~ which reseller ? so is 499USD + 40 pounds extra for everything ? tis offer seems not bad!!

He was only selling one.

I think you misunderstood me..well, he charged $750 for an iPad 2 16gb, a Poly SmartCase, and 3 to 5 day shipping plus i asked for insurance.

$750 = £466
VAT Tax will be about £60, so overall £526.

In UK iPad 16gb will be £439 and £30ish for the case so £469 in total. Okay so it's more like £50 extra than the UK price, still it is worth it to me.

i thought VAT shud be 20% of £466 which is 93.2?? who will pay the VAT n how to pay?

Well it depends it might be £93 just depends whether he puts the price of the item down ($499) or the price i bought it at. I pay the VAT when the delivery guy comes.

Lol, so exciting ! i don't know why.. it's basically the same as my old ipad but a little faster :rolleyes:

But i can't control my lust for it ;)

My ipad is coming and i CAN NOT WAIT :D

Bundlebox are taking iPad 2 orders, you just need to email them.
If you're nice they'll give you a code to bypass the current block on orders.

I know, because I have a iPad 2 White (16GB) on its way (order placed last Wednesday). :cool:
