Woke up randomly last night, pick up my iPhone and safari opened automatically! The apple site opened and was down, I thought it was a sign, I waited up refreshing the page to no avail! Is this normal behaviour lol!

Hi guys, quick question!

If you import one, obviously it goes though customs etc - how do you pay the tax/VAT etc? :)

Do you pay it at the door when it gets delivered?

Thanks!

LOL Doesn't this remind you of last year? Waiting day after day for news only to be told they were delayed! Praying that doesn't happen this year.

It was the morning. I queued from about 7 or 8 in the morning.

i got mine from the states last year... so wasn't bothered about the delay :p

this time round, i'm curios..

poster above also says pc world etc.. will have them... still.. i'd rather buy from an apple store... just the feeling :)

edit: do we have a list of which retailers will be selling them on release day?

i'm seriously hoping apple take pre-orders online so they can be delivered on the friday ... hope they'll announce something this week...

if not, i'm a bit buggered as not too close to an apple store..

what time was it released last year? was it friday morning or afternoon?

Don't forget PC World, John Lewis, and even Orange may have stock

Yes, you have to pay it before the courier will release it.

I'm going to pre order/order online and wait for it to be delivered. I think they will do pre orders in the UK, ready for delivery on the 25th as we don't have as many Apple store over here. Apple won't get the same publicity.

Ok cool.

I've also heard that Tesco may be worth a shot too. ;)

sarcasm? ;)

i sincerely hope so... means not taking any time off work too :D

I'll definitely be at Covent Garden. Probably going to do something special, just waiting in line is boring... thought about cosplaying some made up superhero called iCaptain. Let's see if I can pull it through, 12 days to finish that cosplay :p

John Lewis should have stock, I work there and my manager has said that we should have them for release day. Plus with JL, you get a no nonsense returns policy, there's no restocking fee or even a limited return day such as 14 days from Apple, in theory you could bring it back 2 months later unopened and with the receipt for a refund.

I'll be getting a 32GB 3G Black on the 25th, can't wait!

Will there be a reserve and collect policy - do you know?

There is usually for all other products, pretty sure the iPad will be no different. You can also do a "click+collect" which is where you basically order one to get delivered to your chosen store and pick it up the next day providing you order prior to 2:00pm.

I don't suppose that includes John Lewis @ Home stores.

Sounds promising though - Mum loves John Lewis so no need to drag her to an Apple store lol.

A good idea for those who aren't eligible for the education discount from Apple is to order online from currys to collect in store. They have online discount codes for all spends over £300. Just help to save some money

Haha well in fact it does include John Lewis @ Home! I work in the Tunbridge Wells one so feel free to buy an iPad from us! :p

Aha ok cool. Well I would still highly recommend people to buy them from John Lewis, the queues will be a load shorter than at Apple and you also get much better aftercare in my opinion.

Never Knowingly Undersold

Anyway yeah, great to know there's another option out there. Funny thing this, in Croydon there's a Best Buy, PC World, Curry's, Comet and a John Lewis @ Home, virtually right next to each other!

Do you know if you can pay on collection?

EDIT: Just tried it with iPad 1 and it looks like you have to pay online first.
