A good idea for those who aren't eligible for the education discount from Apple is to order online from currys to collect in store. They have online discount codes for all spends over £300. Just help to save some money

I thought you couldn't get education discount on the iPad??

Really considering just trying John Lewis's collection service if they have it working by the 25th.

My brother is planning on queueing at the Glasgow Apple store and I'm making him buy me mine as I can't go due to class - assuming it'll be 9am sales. If the JL thing happens, I'll just collect it after uni! :D

If they don't, may order online when they become available on Apple asap first then see what happens if the Apple store has any when my brother gets there.

Excited, hope info is out soon! :D Oh and hello! :D First post xD Been leering for years though xD

Im heading to Singapore in 2 weeks. I just wonder if its going to be worhtwhile grabbing one out there.

Shouldnt be any network issues right?

I'm heading to Singapore in a couple of weeks too and was thinking about picking up an iPad 2, but will it have been released there? Singapore didn't appear on the 25th March launch list.

I'm sure I got an education discount on my first iPad. I cant check at the moment because I'm not on the university network. But I will and if not, I'll be heading to currys.

Nope you don't. I checked last week on the original iPad to see if I'd been better ordering off it, but only Macs and some software seem to be on discount via the Uni discount.

If they are to offer preorders as their website suggests, they will have to start taking orders this week, my guess would be friday. Especially if they plan to ship from china which will need to be prepared for shipment sunday/monday for delivery on thursday/friday. My iPad 1 came on the thursday, a day early.

Aha ok cool. Well I would still highly recommend people to buy them from John Lewis, the queues will be a load shorter than at Apple and you also get much better aftercare in my opinion.

A great option but I've never had any issues with Apple's aftercare, it's the best of any company I've ever purchased from. Replacement products there and then with no fuss whenever one has proved to be faulty.

For those of you who work for multi-national companies check your company benefits. My employer (Alliance Boots) has an intranet site that offers 10% off vouchers for DSGi Group (Currys & PC World). I did this last year and saved £63 on my 32GB 3G.

I've booked the 25th off as holiday but I'm still undecided wether to go to meadowhall and stand in line or pre-order online.

I also have a family member in Canada and he has offered to make a trip to the US and pick me one up and ship it but I'm worried about customs ect.

My local store is the Bullring also, but its about 15 miles away. My brother in law works for HMV and he says they are getting them in and would be easy for him to get me one. I only live 2 miles from the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, and there is PC World, Currys, Best Buy etc there. Quite tempted by the discount code for Currys tho.

Decisions decisions!

Don't forget KRCS in Merry Hill, they usually get new Apple gear in pretty sharpish.

John Lewis should have stock, I work there and my manager has said that we should have them for release day. Plus with JL, you get a no nonsense returns policy, there's no restocking fee or even a limited return day such as 14 days from Apple, in theory you could bring it back 2 months later unopened and with the receipt for a refund.

I'll be getting a 32GB 3G Black on the 25th, can't wait!

Theres an image on the JL website saying iPad 2 - March 25th so I guess you guys will have them. John Lewis is a good store, I'm considering getting it from one near me. Is there any way I can reserve or pre order one?

:)

You have to search for it, otherwise you only find the original iPad's.

I'm going to assume we aren't going to find out about pricing or retailers which definitely will have a bit of stock until a few days before the launch. Fingers crossed everyone will be going to the Apple Store and not up the road to JL xD Or round the corner to Currys. :D

Looks pretty good. Does anyone know if Apple Authorized Resellers will get them, as in small stores like Micro Anvika?
That shop is tucked right at the back of a shopping centre where nobody ever goes.

Either way, there's a Curry's, PC World and BestBuy super-store plus John Lewis @ Home in South Croydon, then a Curry's/PCWorld, HMV, and a few Resellers in East Croydon. Looks like you don't have to go far to get one - though the experience will be much nicer at an Apple store.

I bought a mac once from John Lewis... They were excellent and at the time they had an extra years cover for free. Not sure if they still offer that now though.

Might head to Croydon instead, I forgot that there are loads of resellers on the Purley Way.

Looks like Argos will be selling them too.

Argos AS WELL?

Oh my, that makes 5 confirmed stores and a further possible (Comet) all within a 5 minute walk from each other, with 4 on the same street right next to each other.

Brilliant, hah. Hope it turns out well for ya.
