I managed to reserve a 32GB black wifi for collection at Comet...only to arrive and be told that the reserve system was a technical glitch as Head Office told them no reservations were allowed, at Apple's instruction; of course by 7pm, they had sold out :( Will fire off a complaint to their Head Office tomorrow.

But thanks to you lot on here, have also got one through Tesco Direct, due to arrive on Monday. It all seemed a bit easy though, so will hold-off from cancelling my Apple order until the Tesco one is confirmed completely.

Getting one from Argos seemed too easy aswell but a few people on here managed to reserve them for collection, so there is hope for us yet.
 
I put my tesco order in at 7.30 and the tracking is still saying
Order processing - awaiting payment confirmation


have double checked with tesco and the card company and both saying all is ok.. it the automated system and will get processed and still on track for delivery I'm told!

patience aint my strong point! maybe I should have held onto my apple order a bit longer!

Please collect your order after 4pm on Monday 28 March 2011" in relation to the iPad so in theory I can rant and range at Tesco on Monday if it's not there. I hope it's not cancelled like some others here..

I didn't want to risk cancelling the Apple Store and magically it ships tonight for tomorrow delivery. I know in my heart it wont and it will be at least the middle of next week at the earliest. Maybe it's a good idea until I collect the thing Monday!

Now my tracking says: At warehouse - dispatching soon and money has been taken.

So obviously they do have stock, secretly hoping for overnight delivery...

I just don't want to risk cancelling the Apple Store and magically it ships tonight for tomorrow delivery. I know in my heart it wont and it will be at least the middle of next week at the earliest so should just bite the gun.

My first attempt at ordering with Tesco gave me this email at 20:50. At 21:16 I got the following email:

Subject: Problems with your Tesco Direct order

We are sorry to inform you that we have had to cancel your Tesco Direct order.

Don't worry, from time to time problems do occur with processing payment cards, and this is usually due to one of the following reasons:

Not enough funds on your card (includes Buy Now Pay Later customers)
- You may have reached your credit limit
- If you placed your order using the Buy Now Pay Later option, you must have enough funds on your payment card to cover full cost of the order (even though you will not have to pay the full cost of the order until the end of the interest free period).

Problems with your bank/card issuer
- We may have experienced technical problems contacting your bank to make the transaction
- Your card issuer may have refused this transaction

To place your order again on Tesco Direct, we would recommend that you contact your bank to understand why your order failed, or use a different payment card.
Please note that it will usually take 3-5 business days for any payment card refunds to appear in your account. Cheque refunds will usually take 14 days to arrive.
We are sorry for any problems you may have had, but hope that you choose to shop again with Tesco Direct soon.

I checked my online banking and it appears that no hold on funds was placed at all. Maybe my bank did refuse them as I had made an Apple order earlier (2am) today.

I've just placed another order at 21:32 using a different card. Let's see what happens.

I have just managed to cancel my online order, and my brother has just backed out of the 16 gb one I got him today :mad:
Still, having one extra is better than two :rolleyes:

Called Tesco and they weren't much help.. said its still procressing and they can't see why there's a delay.. could take up till tomorrow but will still arrive on Monday if all goes through OK.

Credit card company say they have only seen a £2 pre authorisation so far.. so looks like the delay is on Tesco's end.

So called them up, didn't have any 32 3G blacks. So just ordered my one (now a 32gb Black) on my card (had enough for one, not both atm) Hope thats the end of this...
 
Arrived at Westfield at about 4.30 & the queue was outside. Walked out with my 64GB black WiFi & black leather smart cover at 6.30, which I think was pretty good all things considered!
 
Had a great time at Meadowhall today, had some good company in the queue, and thought the Apple Store guys did a great job.

My John Lewis order has been marked as 'Despatched' and tracking has been provided. I selected Saturday delivery, so will be with me tomorrow. :D

Just heard from John Lewis that money has come account of my account and iPad dispatched. Pick up tomorrow. Well done JL.

20:45 - placed order [16gb black wifi]
20:50 - proof of purchase email arrived
21:16 - "problems with your order" email arrived
21:30 - placed another order using diff card
21:32 - proof of purchase email arrived
21:50 - funds showing held in account
22:00 - online order status showing as "Order status: At warehouse - dispatching soon"

My original order is still showing as: "Order processing - awaiting payment confirmation" and no funds have been held. I presume this order is just going to die.
