Order processing - awaiting payment confirmation since 7.30!

tesco say the cant see what th ehold up is, card company saying they not had anything but the pre auth made.. now their customer services is closed

I bet by tomorrow it will have been cancelled and now they are out of stock :(

I shouldn't have cancelled my apple order so quickly

I just ordered one from Tesco, no problem!

Spent about an hour struggling with Tesco Direct website. Every time I tried to do something meaningful like put iPad in basket or even close a browser window Safari would freeze on me. It finally occurred to me to try Firefox, which works like a dream but too late! 64Gb Wi-fi now 'temporarily out of stock'

What's the £30 discount with three?
Doesn't matter, found it!
Got a genius appointment tommorow with apple in regent street, s hopefully there will still be some left then :D!
Cheers,
Jack

I went to Bull Ring, Birmingham for the launch. Got there about 12:30pm. Was probably about 70th in the queue. The apple staff were handing out Krispy Kreme doughnuts and water. Some good guys standing around us, all having a chat. The staff said they'd come round to do pre orders before we all got into the store. Then a couple in front of me said that in ' Black' ( new initiative store run by DSGi group) on the high street in Birmingham they were handing out numbered tickets to people wanting to buy an iPad 2. They had like ticket number 6.

So I went over, left my bag with the guys in the queue at Bull Ring and they gave me ticket number 20 but had been told by head office to keep everyone on the premises until launch at 5pm. So I filled out a form with what I wanted to buy and how I'd pay and I went to get my bag. And in this store there were sofas to sit on, iMac's to use the Internet and a free drinks dispensing section, as many drinks as you'd like.

They handed out like 45 tickets and stopped. Then got another delivery so handed out about another 30. So by 5pm there was about 75 of us waited for iPad. They did some talks about iPad 2 on the microphone and put the keynote on a big screen so people could watch again whilst waiting. They then put some iPad 2's and smart covers out so people could have a look. Then at 5pm they proceeded to call out numbers 1-75 in two's. Moved very quickly and I was out of the store with my White iPad 16gb wifi by 5:25pm. They handled the launch very very well indeed and I'd strongly recommend them for any launch in the future.

Can't put iPad 2 down absolutely love it, was 35th in queue at Trafford centre out of 1000+ got White one in the end think I made the right choice

Were the controllers (minimum wage security staff) enforcing queue restrictions where you were?

They saw a lot of people and a lot of arms and legs and got completely confused with the process. I love idiots that have to manage things. Idiots make the best managers. Long live £5.93 an hour. Let it never end.

I ordered with Apple at !.45am after trying for 55 minutes and finally breaking through apples error barricades. I still havent recieved an email from them but the order status page says ships 15th april delivery 26th april. Dissapointed to say the least.

Anyways thanks to this fine thread I ordered with Tesco and at 8pm they charged £2 to my cc then 340 minutes later the full amount and my Tesco order status says, "at warehouse dispatching soon". Woo Hooo. So hopefully I'll be picking it up from my local on monday and then telling apple "No Deal".

Fingers crossed

Wow, what a strange post.

And how do you know they are getting exactly £5.93 an hour? Do you pay their wages?

The sort of individuals I saw could NOT be earning more than minimum wage.

Scratching your arse, saying 'I don't know where the queue ends/begins/exists/hopes to ever fulfil the void of humanity' whilst wearing a shiny red jacket will never allow you to drive around in some classy metal. It's minimum wage until you start opening those books, and sitting behind them for a few years :)

Incase it's useful to any Essex based folks....

Had an easy time at the Thurrock retail park- not Lakeside shopping centre but the Currys/ PC World/ Argos etc retail park just outside. Strolled into Comet just before 5pm and picked up a 64gb 3G plus accessories, and then into PC World for another one for a buddy. Both Comet and Currys/ PC World said it had been pretty tame and they had more confirmed stock arriving Mon/Tues. Comet even said you could order a unit on Monday and they'd order it specifically from Head Office.

Argos was expecting more stock beginning of the week too. And of course there's Best Buy, Apple and a bunch of other stores in the shopping centre to try....

For those who missed out today, reckon it's worth trying early next week. Only 25mins from Fenchurch St on the train for Londoners! Hope that's useful to some.

was in PC World in Lisburn at 8pm tonight and the apple sales woman said she thought they'd be getting more early next week, is this plausable i thought there was a sales shortage?

I cancelled my Apple order and ordered with Tesco instead. £10 discount, plus £16 QuidCo, plus clubcard points and I can collect it in person on Monday.

I really want a red smart cover, so I've placed a new order with Apple just now for one.

Estimated Shipping: 18 Apr, 2011
Estimated Delivery: 20 Apr, 2011

That's a week earlier than the combined shipping estimate for the smart cover + iPad.

So I'll have a cover-less iPad on Monday until the time the smart cover arrives. I can live with that.

Shame about the wasted hours trying to place an online order with Apple.

So does anyone know if it's in stock at any online retailers?

I've been to PC World, Curry's, John Lewis and Tesco Direct online stores and they all say Out Of Stock.

Anyone discovered a supplier with iPads still available??
