iPad 2 UK Thread

Just got the very same text! Though when I ordered I put "Leave with Neighbour" because I thought it meant if I wasn't in, then leave it with a neighbour please, but it does say special instructions, leave with neighbour, even though I will be in and someone else will be in all day tomorrow - hopefully they come to my address first, if not i'll catch them when they come out of the van! But either way, i'm getting my iPad tomorrow - :D

I didn't... I hope I'm in for it! Like they deliver between 7-8.45 or 10.15-19.00!!!

Knowing my luck they'll deliver during that 90minutes I'm out! :rolleyes:

I suppose me putting leave with neighbour is a good thing, but when I'm actually in I worry if i've made a mistake if you understand my thinking?

Hopefully they won't come when your out, HDNL have been good with me before and i've often taken some parcels for next door, or even two doors up so hopefully they'll do the same for you if they do deliver when you're out :)

HDNL are the ones that use their own cars right? :confused: If so I think I've used them once, wasn't great...

Yeah! I'm stupidly stressing about them delivering it to my neighbour, I know them, get on well have done for years etc, but I'm in and I wonder if they'll come to me, or shall I just go outside and get it from them - hmm!

I wonder if calling them would make any difference...probably not.

I had hope for Saturday afternoon, but after that I await Monday!

Today I have been out and bought the last black Smart Cover locally and a connector cable. Now if the iPad 2 doesn't come..
 
I rang Currys and they said that payment has been approved and I should receive a e-mail either end of today or Monday morning, if not that I should ring them back!

I rather have this problem that wait years with Apple.
 
Well John Lewis screwed up royally and my item wasn't in store to collect today... Should be there tomorrow which sucks as I'm at work tomorrow. They really didn't seem to care too much either, anyone know how I can make a complaint?
 
Just had the currys processing email for my order placed at 6:30pm on Friday saying it will be delivered within the next three working days.

I will be waiting till I have it in my hands before I cancel my Apple online order though. I can't help thinking Apple dropped the ball a little on this one by failing to fulfil all of their own online orders as quickly.

Never imagined I would end up getting my iPad quicker from Currys/PCWorld at 1am on Friday morning.

Good luck with the Currys! I spoke with the CS dude and he said you will defiantly get it next working day of dispatch. i havent had any processing e-mail but for mine, he said that payment has been authorized.

I literally got that ten minutes ago so I hope yours comes through soon too.

As sad as it seems I have been on permanent refresh since Friday. I also separately ordered a MacBook air on Friday though so my apple v currys race is still kind of on.

EDIT: Currys just called to check my card details and delivery details were correct. Should have it tomorrow and they also said 260 of the 64gb black wifi + 3G model in stock after they sent mine.

I have a white 16gb wifi that a friend of mine asked me 2 get him when I was in the queue only to find out he was only joking (or he couldn't get the cash).... I am gonna return it to the apple store on Monday unless someone wants to give me £425 for it (it's still sealed) I live in sunderland

Tesco has now dispatched my accessories for delivery tomorrow, but still waiting on the dispatch of the actual iPad for in store pickup

I just phoned them too (nice and quiet on a Sunday!) .. my payment went through but only on the third attempt (grrrrr @ my over zealous credit card company!!) .. so it's showing as a 'temporary order' at the moment, the relevant department will phone me tomorrow or I can call them and it 'should' be ok .. I'm not sure though if I've been allocated stock *sigh* .. I ought to have been because the money is now out of my account and into theirs but who knows?! lol

I agree though .. still better than 26th April! (when we're supposed to be away anyways!)

I too ordered from Currys .. admitedly, I'm not cancelling my Apple order until the Currys one is in my hands but the mere suggestion that I would have voluntarily ordered from Currys or PC World before this mess would have made me burst out laughing!!

Tesco sound as though they're delivering well on their orders too! .. Apple must have had ZERO stock in the country for the online orders which seems rather strange. I'm puzzled to be honest, very weird way to take orders when you allow the process to start in the middle of the night which suggests there is PRODUCT to deliver!!!

It's vert strange. I really don't need it THAT badly that I'd order from Currys etc but I tried in vain to get from Tesco purely because of the quidco and voucher.

I am so dubious about Currys/PC world and so on. I just have had bad experiences of sorting defective or faulty units. That's the reason I would rather wait for Apple online to deliver.

apple online has no stock in the UK, all shipping from china, just like the US, i presume they were intending to have stock in the country for some, like the US launch, but due to shortage, they didn't. the reason the shops, like currys, tescos, etc have stock for online sales is due to pulling it from the stock they were given for the shops, thus why the one near me only had a couple of each model, not the 10-15 of each model they were anticipating

Just got mine:

'We are now preparing your Currys order for delivery

(expect delivery within 3 workings days)'

...and also hanging on to Apple order until the deal is done!
