Bizarrely they're out of smart covers though!

Now the only question is when to cancel the apple store order! Shipping 15th april, reckon I'll be ok to cancel on the 5th?

Apple never charge until the item ships, so you'll be fine to cancel by the 5th.

I'm still pondering over what case/cover to go for... I like the idea of the smart covers but the price is irksome, especially as I'll have to use leather oil on the tan to get it to the deep brown I'm after.... and then there's the lack of protection on the back. I've just seen a case by Enki which is designed to work with the smart cover, and I'm sure they won't be the first. I'll just be careful and use a slip case I have from my original iPad that will do the job until then...

I got a call from Currys about an hour ago because I sent them an email about it. The man told me I was allocated one and that they are getting new stock Friday. I don't trust them though.

I then spent the next two days phoning Currys to check following all the stories on here.

Having been told that I was allocated one on Sunday afternoon I was finally phoned on Tuesday lunchtime to say it had been picked up by DHL.

Confirmation email with tracking number at 13:00 Tuesday

It is now out for delivery however I am at work so let's hope DHL do what they normally do and leave it with my neighbour. :cool:

My Tesco delivery to store ordered this morning for pickup tomorrow as just changed from...

...At warehouse, awaiting dispatch, to...

...Sending from warehouse to store (Ref #71) which means on way to store, hope it comes in by tomorrow.....please

Just spoke to CS who couldn't tell me when I will get it but said it was due to high demand and they were fulfilling orders in order of when they were ordered... which is clearly not the case as I ordered the same model!
 
Same here... but mine changed very early this morning - hope it's there by today.

Phoned at 11am this morning but they said not there yet, deliveries about 11-12pm, but maybe later, will call you. To be fair the site says after 4pm, its just I have an APple reservation for 12-1pm, for same iPad 2, but I suppose the Tesco one is paid for now?

I wont believe anything though until its in my hand!

What time was the order placed? Mine was at 09:25 so not holding out much hope after what you've said....

Just checked PCworlds T&Cs and it states that payment will be deducted as soon as the order is accepted. Im unsure legally whether they are allowed to do this when they knowingly do not have the stock! I've also noticed that they've updated their website, on the orders section. Initially, under the my account section for your order it stated the delivery time quoted, that was on the site when you ordered. This has mysteriously vanished! Im pissed off with this. It stated 2-3 days for delivery and at no point did they indicate they were out of stock and I ordered Friday night... Knew I should have booked the day off to queue :(.
 
Again it was strange with pcworld. I was in there store in Newcastle on saturday and they told me they were completely out of stock everywhere. He asked if i had my own business or was self employed. I do have a side line business but just said no because i could not be bothered to go through it all. He told me if i did they had loads of stock allocated to there business side

I got home and checked the pcworld business and he was correct so i quickly registered myself which was really easy and stuck an order in for a white 16gb wifi which was showing 57 in stock.

I was not sure if it went through but it did, got the e mail confirmation and then dispatch e mail yesterday. Ipad just been delivered this morning so very happy.

Cant still understand why they had so many allocated to the business side of things though but not complaning
 
Ordered a couple of 16gb wifi black from Insight for Monday delivery - fingers crossed. If they don't turn up Friday in time to be shipped Monday I do have the option to cancel but I'm hoping to get the consignment info Friday!

I just phoned Macwarehouse about my order this morning. They said they won't know till late this afternoon/this evening if my order was successful as they are still allocating orders. :confused:

I'm suspicious of this.. I'm guessing they're waiting for the money to clear before giving you (and me) the bad news. I'm cancelling.

Yes seemed a bit odd to me.

Surely they can set a reserved amount on my card but not actually put the payment through until it's despatched? Therefore I'm guessing I should still be able to cancel.

im as furious as you my friend, ordered saturday and still nothing

just called them up, and they said its awaiting dhl pick up and then i will get the email with the tracking number. it should be today or tomorrow. and it will take 3 days

so im guessing hopefully ill have it tuesday if im lucky:rolleyes:
i reiterated and asked 'so the one i ordered, its definitely in stock' and she said yes
christ id pay royal mail or something to go pick i up, how can dhl take this long, i dont understand what the hold up is.. and it should be next day royal mail or something for the amount we are spending

I got the feeling I was a real pain in the neck about it. Not sure if it helped that I sent the link to this debate and the anger that some people felt towards Currys at the time to the CS but it was shortly after I mentioned how annoyed people were and how Currys were getting bad mouthed on here that I soon got confirmation and things through.

I would just keep bugging them through their contact us section and then on the phone as well till they give in and bump you up the queue. Sorry but I suspect thats what they may have done with me if you ordered before me. :eek:
 
Hi guys,

I ordered my White ipad 16gb wifi only at 11am this morning from a website called laptopsdirect.co.uk and they seemed to have loads in stock!! And I've got my confirmation email from them at 12.30 saying my order has been dispatched, then a phone call from them just to confirm my work address and phone number and the bloke said I should receive it by Friday!!!

I'm very happy!

I've just called for an update and was told "Looks like you just missed out on the last of the stock, do you want me to cancel ?"

I said "yes".. the salesman then said "ah, looks like the remaining 30 ipads that are allocated to other orders haven't all be security checked yet, if they fail you may get allocated.. would you like to be put in the queue"

I said "how many people are in the queue", he checked and said 10 people were infront of me. I said "cancel anyway".. but then he tried to access my order and was "locked out" by the system, allegedly someone in "security" was probably checking my order.. so he can't make the change..

He'll call me back in 10 minutes with an update..
 
How queer!

Just checking the progress of this thread and noticed the comments re: MacWarehouse and orders placed this morning. Thought 'uh-oh' as I'd ordered around 9:30am today and just then, the phone rang...

It was MacWarehouse (Indian call centre, I think) and asked me to confirm delivery and billing address. Hopes up only to be dashed seconds later when she said they had no stock left and would I wait or prefer to be refunded. Took the second option and will wait for Apple now.

No idea why I've formed this mindset but I wonder whether they have twigged that personal customers are ordering and are now holding back everything for those with the specific business account.

And to think, I was going to order it at 10pm last night and bottled it as I wasn't sure about their customer service...
