Haha PC World just sent me a £10 off £100 voucher to use instore.
In the text it says

Take advantage of your exclusive £10 money-off voucher today

We hope you've already started to enjoy the Tablet Computer you purchased from pcworld.co.uk.

I wanted to write back I haven't received the ipad2 cos you still haven't shipped it you incompetant .......

Yeah I had that too... and I too had the same thought!!!! :)

my ipad 2 arrived today - but it's faulty!!

It keeps crashing and Apple Care say take it back to a store for a replacement!!

Oh yeh!!!

thats why i'd rather wait than give my cash to DSG

Yeah I had that too... and I too had the same thought!!!! :)

I don't want them to have a penny of my money. I am not that desparate for the iPad 2 that I'm prepared to stoop to PC world/Currys etc. They are all horrendous stores and the experience of using them equally so.

We seem so pleased because something we've ordered arrives.. it's not exactly the pinnacle of customer service.

I am considering ordering from Tesco purely because with Quidco and 10 quid off voucher and clubcard points it's worth it.. but if I can't get that deal then I will get from Apple.. so I have until the 3rd Aprilbefore the 10 quid voucher expires.

I just know though that it will be hell should there be any issues and I need to swap or replace the unit unless I go direct to Apple.

Hi guys, new poster but long time lurker. Thought I'd chip in with my story.

I, like everyone else tried to preorder in the early hours on Friday only to be told that there was a 2-3 weeks wait. I was optimistic that Apple may have delivered earlier than that, especially as I ordered at 12.30 am!

I was on holiday all of last week so could quite easily have queued at the Bullring Apple store as I live a ten minute walk away. However, I queued last year for my iPhone 4 and despite people trying to convince everyone that these queues are a laugh a minute, they aren't. No matter how much pizza and doughnuts they shove down your throat, it's boring, headache inducing and downright tiring. I vowed I would never do that again, although tempting.

I noticed that Currys supposedly had some available on their website, so I took a punt and ordered a black 32gb wifi at 6:00 on Friday evening. I had two emails one after the other just confirming the order. The nothing, 2 days of nothing. I was patient and just left it (well I refreshed my email frequently:))
Then just as I'd resigned myself to a month without iPad I got the tracking email Monday afternoon and it arrived yesterday with my blue smart cover. I know people have been knocking Currys so I thought I'd give another side. It's my first iPad and I'm amazed how good it is. My MacBook is now redundant in the most part and I'm typing this with it!

The one thing I will say is although I love Apple they should have done preorders, they still would have had the queues but would have satisfied people better. I have to say the communication for this launch has been pretty bad by most companies. I was just a lucky boy!

Don't give up, keep looking, take a punt if you need to, you never know. I'd also like to say thanks for a very entertaining forum.

Wow! .. maybe it's something to do with the fact that the rest of us had credit card companies who stressed out and needed checking? .. mine was still having palpatations from the oops-error trauma of the apple site! .. both of my cards were wrecked because of it!

Mine (ordered Friday 8pm) is now in the hands of DHL definitely so I'm holding out some hope at least!

Well although my order was security checked on phone the payment went through no problem when I ordered on Friday. So in my case the reason for not getting it isn't due to card problems. After speaking to numerous CS people I have come to the conclusion that incompetence is the order of the day and they just say whatever excuse comes into their head. There's no logic.. I've been told that orders are processed in order of when they are placed (obviously not true!) and then by another that the time of processing can vary but when I questioned this he couldn't come up with a good reason other than "some can get delayed more than others"!

Well that was easy!

Jumped onto Apple's retail reservation system at 21:01 last night and reserved a black 32GB Wifi model. Walked into the Arndale at 11am and collected! Easy.

Took delivery of my iPad today :D Got it from Orange, 64gb 3g/wifi black.

Looks fantastic, a couple of the chaps here have the original ipad and say the weight and size difference is really noticeable. It's been a massive distraction to myself and everybody else in the office.

Banged the Sky news app and garage band on there as soon as I got it, and have been showing them both off all day (feel like I work for apple the amount of demonstrations i've done today). Garage band is awesome, really responsive and great fun to play on.

Orange kindly chucked in a free leather smart cover :D fair play to them. The cover is great, works really well, stand 'mode' is sturdy. Have noticed the lines on the screen already that people have mentioned. Presume it's to do with the panels placing pressure on certain bits.

In all, happy as larry :D really enjoying it. Deffo worth the effort (and lack of sleep last night as it felt like christmas eve).

Don't Orange sim-lock their iPads?

My iPad 2 was waiting for me when I arrived at the office today. If you're on 3G get yourself a preloaded 3GB 'Ready-to-go SIM from 3 - cheapest data solution for iPad, you just have to trim the SIM down to microsim size. Buy them on Amazon for only £7.30, reduced from £20.99 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003Z0T3X2/ref=oss_product. You have 3 months to use or lose the data. Iwas using O2 before and their 3G network is pretty rubbish in the parts of London I frequent. Ordered my iPad2 from Currys on Sunday morning and can't really complain about the service, apart from the late apperance of the tracking number. Now to sort out selling the first gen on eBay... although I do feel sentimentally attached to it - which, I know, is very sad.

I've been buying Apple kit for 20 and more years and have to say trying to source from said company on this occasion has been extremely painful. MUST do better next time Apple!

Good luck everyone in your stock-chasing endeavours. DSG (PC World) were Apple's first high street partner so I would imagine they are the best place to keep an eye on for stock (outside of Apple's new store reservations service), notwithstanding the poor customer service experiences reported on this thread.

Me too nuncahoot but I'm not so sure. call me cynical, but my tracking info states "Parcel Data received Awaiting coll." which means, DHL know PC world want to send something but havent collected the item from PC world yet. Who's to say PC world don't create the delivery order with DHL to get a tracking code, which they then keep open until they finally get their shipment? Just so they can send an email to mugs like me, preventing me from cancelling my order with them and going somewhere else, which I'm on the verge of doing!!!

If you cancel it, they have to pay for you to return it.

With the reserve and pick up with Apple retailers, do you pay for it at time of reservation or at the time of pickup? If you pay for it at the time of reservation, do you have to present the credit card used at the time of pickup?

I ask because my office has ordered mine with the company credit card for delivery, and not sure reserve/collect is an option if I have to take the card home with me.

Well Tesco came through for me :)

Ordered yesterday morning at 8am, for store pickup today. Just got back with it in my hand, a White 32Gb WiFi. I also bought a grey (although silvery to me), smart cover at Comet for it, was going to get Orange, but just looked too bling for me, grey sort of matches back so looks nice in my opinion. I might get a red leather later on (from US)

So happy with Tesco, have cancelled Apple online order, Tesco £479 - £10 code, -£12 quidco, bargain :)

Hope everyone gets what they want to..

Just got back from the Apple store and got my 32GB White Wifi one I reserved last night :)

Hope everyone else gets theres soon.
Have you chose a smart cover for your whitey? if so what colour? I got grey
