iPad 2 UK Thread

When do you reckon you will be able to walk into a store and buy one? I'm gonna be near Apple stores during easter, and should be able to afford one by then, so I was hoping I could walk in and buy one...

Any idea?

i picked mine up today at my local Apple Store after about a week and a half of trying to reserve one - loving it so far and it was worth the wait! :D
 
I have to chuckle. I have tried for the last week to reserve without success. Tonight I actually tried to reserve using my phone, to my surprise it went straight through first time without any issue, well, it would appear that some form of glitch has actually resulted in 2 being reserved for me, the irony. Someone may get lucky with a walk in tomorrow, or they may just put it up for reserve tomorrow night.
 
I'm not sure about the whole iPad 2 stock thing, in Paris it's the same wait and reserve system, very difficult to do, however when in the store late on there's still a huge pile of iPads behind them?

Are people reserving and not buying?

Something fishy about the whole thing.

Unrelated- anyone with an ipad2 with a fault, good idea to take to store as seems they have replacements in stock (wrapped in styrofoam envelopes).
 
Have been following this thread from the start.

Finally reserved my long waited for 16Gb Black 3G, picking it up tomorrow morning.

It looks like it is definitely getting easier to reserve one. I didn't get any freezes in the past couple of days, so looks like it's just down to waiting for a specific model in a specific store and being relatively quick in reserving one. Happy hunting, guys.

Haha, same situation. I'm tempted to unwrap the cover and play around with it anyway but thought it might seem a little sad...:p

Ah well, another day, another attempt at an iPad! Fingers crossed that at least some retailers get a couple of units online tomorrow...

Edit: The London Apple stores seem to have a healthy supply of WiFi only models, every single one still available at Regents St...

So tempted, but I've had my heart set on a 32gb 3G for a while now...also hoping that JL get some in so I can use my staff discount :)

I'm so tempted to cancel my PCW order: if I order by Apple directly, it could be dispatched in 21 days... and be later than my PCW iPad, potentially.

This red cover is getting closer to me on my bed. Time to move it back to the desk. :(

I can see why you'd say that - at first glance you are right - but have you tried to reserve one?

Every-time after I put in my apple ID, it tells me no dates available for collection.

That system is a joke and yet another release farce by apple - it's so close to just making me forget this release and wait for iPad3.

There will be a spare 32GB Wi-Fi in White at the Meadowhall store as I've had a confirmation email stating I've reserved 2, only clicked once but for some reason it added 2.

Yeah, on impulse I tried to order one afterwards...frustrating. I wonder what the chances are that Regent St will have some available in store tomorrow...
 
Your reservation is confirmed.

Apparently there are some ipads 2 available in white city.
Just got 2 white 16gb wifi only on the retail store.

Pickup tomorrow in the afternoon.

EDIT2: Actually I got the email now.
But its not written anywhere its "ipad 2"! Just "ipad". I took white, there are only available for ipad 2 anyway? PLZ CONFIRM!!! :p

Don't worry, you have reserved an iPad 2.

When I ordered I wondered the same as well.
 
I've been concentrating so hard on the stock levels of the iPads I forgot all about the smart cover! What's the availability like on them? I want to pick up a blue one at the Covent Garden store tomorrow if possible.
 
Quick question (as this is the most active thread relevant to the UK).

I am going to ask for a refund for my iPad (light bleed, now cracks between glass and seal, seal and aluminium) which I'm sure I'll get. However, I have a completely unused smart cover which I'll no longer need.

Will Apple refund the smart cover, too?

There were lots in today when I went in… got the tan leather one I wanted.
No red leather ones though.
