just ordered a 32GB black one in tesco for collection tomorrow

... aghhh stupid card!!! PAyment declined and now out of stock

The order sat in 'processing' for the entire day.

This morning the order has switched to 'dispatched' with a tracking number for 'Business Post iForce Tracking', though no details yet when I try to track it.

I'll keep this updated to help people anticipate John Lewis shipping/delivery times.

My John Lewis order just arrived. Ordered online on Tuesday at 06:30 and was quoted 3-5 day shipping. It was delivered Thursday at 14:00 (on the delivery van since 06:30).

Ordered Ipad 2 skin from this mob, posted from Germany to me in Portugal in 7 days.
Very easy to fit, back and front - nothing like a screen protector - much easier and it looks great. Only downside is there is no supplied Jpg image to complete the front frame but I have emailed them to check

I'd phone them .. be polite but persistent and explain that you've heard nothing and need the information about its status etc etc

All the best! .. I'm still in a state of (joyous!) shock that Currys turned up trumps for me!! .. hasn't changed my view of them though to be honest and am glad that with Apple products I can return them straight to Mr Jobs if there's a problem :D
 
For interest:

Ordered a 16GB 3G from PCW using ipad-stock tracker site on Tuesday 5th morning. Thursday afternoon received DHL tracking code. Looks like Friday arrival. Seems like they will be good for their 3-4 working day promise.

Ordered a 32GB 3G from Currys (this is the model I really want) again with the ipad-stock alert email on tuesday evening. Waiting for a similar notice from them but hoping Friday or Monday. (DHL do not do weekend deliveries).

Thanks - the last time I called, they said that they didn't have any stocks of iPad, of the one I wanted :(

I'll call up again tomorrow.
 
Worth persevering. Got my white 32gb 3G one a couple of days ago with red leather cover from Apple store in Bristol. Loads of red covers which was a pleasant surprise.
The smart cover is neat but I'm using my old Apple cover when I take it out the house. Fits okay and protects is very well. Going to probably get a Belkin grip vue for the back when they are available in a couple of weeks. The screen does not really need a cover.
White is fabulous, no regrets.
1st gen was wifi only but 3G has come into it's own with the beautiful weather. Sitting outside my local writing this! Very happy bunny.
 
How are people still struggling? Just taken my 32GB iPad 2 back to the Apple store in Brighton tonight because of the back light issue, and swapped it for a new one! Some other guy and his mate in there had walked out with 4 iPads... :rolleyes:
 
HMV seem to have a good selection in stock now ! Plus Quidco cashback and £5 off ! Managed to order the one I wanted at last. THANKS TO ipad-stock.co.uk !

Gonna read through these posts now for a suitable cover/case.

Anyone else had one of these emails from Apple, had it just after midnight today:
