iPad 2 UK Thread

My order from Apple.com has gone to 'Prepared for Shipment' at some point overnight. Still no change on ship date estimate, however from the general 'shipping notice' thread on this forum it is likely to ship in the next few days, and the shipping date will be updated at that point.

Guys seriously, if you're struggling, get to Brighton. Was in there last night at 19:30 and a couple of guys walked out with two each and I replaced my one for another one. They must have stock there still this morning!!

I get the same message on the US apple store but not the UK one.

Weird, after seeing your post I logged into the UK site and like you it shows 'not yet shipped'. I have a bookmark to the orders status page, and I must have bookmarked the US site.
 
Atr about 8.15 this morning I managed to bag a 64Gb 3g black from John Lewis for pick up tomorrow.
Then tried to cancel the apple order - but the ipad bit can no longer be cancelled (only the cover) - so I guess shipping is imminent

For some bizarre reason I feel complled to say "me too":)

Don't know why I feel I have to inform a group of complete strangers, but maybe it's the Kool-Aid:)
 
Although I was lucky enough to get mine on launch day, Bristol still has plenty of stock as far as I'm aware.

Saw a chap walk out of the Apple Store with a bag full of them the other day. Loads of all the Smart Covers there too. Western Computer opposite Temple Meads is where I got mine and I believe they still have stock.

Although the Apple order has not yet shipped - Apple spammed me a survey this morning: "tell us how you like your new iPad" - so far all I can say about it is the screen is a bit small to see from 12,000 miles away
 
I got the "split email" - despite cancelling the ipad and keeping the red smart cover on order....
 
Head over to Insight ( via Quidco) - apparently they have a huge stock of every model coming up as in stock today - e.g. shows 400 Wifi 16Gb will be available. Delivery options extra.

Thought it was too good to be true, also thought I could trust John Lewis - turned out I was wrong.

Just got an email saying that my order has been cancelled because of a security issue with my card. I rang them to ask what was going on (I use the card a lot, it has plenty of funds and have had no problem buying with it before) and they said that they'd tried to contact me to ask an additional security question but couldn't get through.

As far as I can tell this isn't true, I have had my phone with me all day and it has great signal strength and no missed-calls. I asked for a specific time and they said they weren't sure, there was no documentation.

Sounds to me like they took too many orders and are just cancelling the excess orders using "additional security issues" as an excuse. In the end they said there was nothing that they or I could dom, which leaves me very disappointed in a company I thought you could trust.
 
Just to tie together two threads above:

John Lewis online are getting stock of 64GB/Black/3G (and maybe others) on and off all day - I missed one, and jumped at the next - because of JL's friendly returns policy. (Hint: Firefox's extension "Check4Change" will really help you here.)

And:

Apple Store seem to be preparing to ship deliveries now - I ordered mine at 12:30am sharp and although the store is still saying 25th April, and no notification of preparing to ship, I can't cancel it. Called and they said it's on a pallet.

Irritating consequence of the above is that I'm picking up mine from JL tomorrow, but will have to return Apple's when I get it. I moaned a bit to the Apple person that the online order status is clearly out of date, and not useful.

:EDIT: And another "back in stock" email from the Carphone Warehouse! Looks like a whole load of iPads are in good ol' Blighty this weekend...

Just received an email in the last few minutes to say my 64GB 3G black iPad2 has shipped from Apple today. My new estimated delivery date is >14th April. (The original receipt at time of ordering said shipping was going to be 14th April with delivery before 26th).

However it states my blue leather smartcover, display adapter and Orange SIM have still not shipped yet, even though they were ordered at the same time. (Actually the original order stated that the Orange SIM would ship by itself on 25th March separately from the rest of the order, but as of now it still remains on order.)
 
I had an email from apple today asking me to fill out a survey to give feedback on my experience with the iPad 2. I thought that this was strange considering mine hasn't even been shipped yet.

I ordered mine from the Apple online store on launch day (in the UK) and it says on the order status page that I won't be getting it till the 3rd of May. :(

Should I just cancel the order and try to purchase from the Apple Store?

Thats a big fat ditto from me.
My 32GB White has been shipped but the smart cover hasn't.

Oh and loved the mail that came from Apple a couple of days ago saying that the iPad would be shipped by carrier and the smart cover by normal post. I should bloody well hope they ship the iPad by carrier. I wouldn't trust the royal mail to deliver my nice new iPad (apologies to all posties in here you do a great job)

Delivery expected no later than 14th by the email reckoning hmmm day off me thinks

what time did you order yours?

I ordered mine at 6am on the 25th and have a delivery date of the 28th April
