Haha, that's one way of looking at it I suppose! And I suppose you're right. You don't get any idiots wondering around or acting like idiots at 6am (not many anyway!).
Plus, walking away with the new product just in time for walking into the office on time is always a good feeling; then you get asked all the questions by colleagues who then end up wanting one, but not being able to get one for a few weeks due to stock shortages
yep suits me too, i can get an early tube to the apple store (after waking up angry wife) and then get to work a bit later
if i have to leave at lunch to queue, i'll end up having to take a half day.
I get what you are saying. But I'm not sure iPad 2 is worth getting up early for. (I'm a student) It's just not that magical enough.
no gadget is really worth getting up early for. its just one of those things that some of us like to do!
personally, having used my ipad 1 every day for almost a year, and having sold it, i miss having it enough to make me queue.
suppose worst case scenario if i dont get an ipad 2 on launch day i can just pop into GAME and pick a 3DS off the shelf

Looks like i've found my home on the internet for the next 8 days.....I always find my way back to the XXXX UK Thread......sat here for a week with the iPad1 thread...a few weeks with the iPhone4 thread...
Not decided if i'm going to order online or queue yet. Done both and kind of preferred queueing (iPhone4)....was quite funny.

Me too but I've been disappointed SO many times by couriers that fail to turn up for some reason or another. Maybe all my local firms are just lazy!
True... but the 'not knowing' if they're going to arrive really agitates me...when i can see the start / end of a queue and know i'm going to get one... that makes me less angry in some backwards way....
At this point, I think we're assuming there are not going to be any pre-orders.

Glad its only 8 days till launch - fed up that Tesco mobile dont allow tethering via personal hotspot.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to pitch our tent in Brent cross shopping centre - Gonna need a big nail gun methinks!

My UPS guy knows me now, even gave me his number to call if I'm getting a parcel and can't sign for it etc etc....I can trust him to deliver, not sure about the lazy ones out there.
If I was a betting man I would put money down on tomorrow being the opening of pre-orders. So here's hoping I don't lose.
It would be odd to start pre-orders on Monday when they could have the whole weekend instead.

Last year I went through hell with Parcelforce/USPS & customs. Was it worth it? Undoubtedly, but I'm not doing it again.
Although without a pre order facility, I guess I'll just wait until the apple store has stock and place my order with them then.
Get a bit of QuidCo cashback that way too, hopefully.
