Does Apple actually enjoy this?
Unless they are total morons, they know exactly the numbers that are coming into the country, how many each area gets and what shops are going to get what amounts of stock.
Given that they are not idiots, that means this is done deliberately.
The question is why?
So they actually want more people to be standing in line than iPads are in the store and they actively want people to walk away disappointed?
They could tell the store they will be getting say 50 iPad's next Friday and here is the combinations of models they will get.
But they don't, so they actually want customers to have to stand in line and perhaps run around different stores in the hope of finding stock?
Is this is nice way to behave to customers?
Would you accept this type of behaviour from other companies?

We're looking at:Maybe I've missed it, but is there a list of which UK stores will stock the iPad 2 on launch day?
Thanks.
We're looking at:
Apple Stores (of course)
Currys
PC World
Best Buy
Argos
John Lewis (Including John Lewis @ Home)
KRCS Resellers
Microanvika Resellers*
*They claim to, but cannot confirm.
Thanks for that. Is that the final, definitive list, or could there be more?
I had heard rumours of Comet, but that might just have been the iPad 1.
At least there are 3 of these near me (no Apple) so hopefully I might get lucky and get one on launch week-end.
Thanks.

... but we'll only really know at best the day before I think
I'm in a position to comment on this one. No one at any Apple reseller or store knows much more than us right now. No stock numbers, no delivery dates. Anyone that says anything more is just making stuff up. Resellers are not allowed to take queries (if someone inquires, they have to point them to the Apple website) or reservations AT ALL and can lose their reseller license for doing so.
I'll probably be queueing at Meadowhall. No idea what time I should think about going though.
I got my iPhone 4 from there on launch day, I got there at 1pm as I had one reserved, and the guy that was at the front when we got there had been there since 9am!
That'll be odd if it's true. Can't ever recall Apple Stores actually opening that early for a launch.
Im hoping to get to best buy (croydon) early on friday morning![]()
Well, this will be interestingI wonder if they will actually deliver to each store. They're right next to each other.

Well I have a printed A4 receipt for my £100 deposit. I was 3rd in the reservations system.
However, I don't doubt that they may not get the stock or my choice of model. But as I said before they did take my money etc
I really hope so, I am heading for JL@Home for discount but at worst I would still pay full price so planning to make my way along the Purley Way until I get what I want!![]()
iPhone 4 queues weren't separated between sim-free buyers and contract buyers, the credit checks made the entire line crawl. Poor planning on apples part. iPad launch won't have that problem.
This isn't correct. I was at the iPhone 4 launch at Meadowhall. When I got there at 5am we were all in one queue, but when the apple staff arrived they organised us into two queues, for sim-free and contract.
All that means is that they have £100 of your money. Think of it like a gift card that may or may not go towards an iPad 2. Would be sucky if they didn't hold one for you but as I said, a reseller can lose their license over doing that. If they want to take the risk, cool beans. I hope they keep one aside for you though. It would annoy the hell out of me if I was in your shoes and they said "sorry, no iPad for you".
They didn't do that at all at Bluewater, I was in and out in no time at all once I was in there (SIM free) but had to stand for 3 hours since 3PM. Started around 20th in the queue... it had more than tripled when I left and I wondered how on Earth they were going to serve them all. They took in 5 people at a time and it took them 20 minutes each way. Madness. Didn't take me long at all. This isn't correct. I was at the iPhone 4 launch at Meadowhall. Sounds like there'll be a lot of people a long purley way. Luckily there at least 4 retailers who are likely to be stocking them. I'm gonna be at the best buy queue or maybe the place with the smallest queue![]()
