First of all, there's no way the 5th Ave Apple Store didn't have a thousand units. It's the 5th Ave store.

Second of all, I'd rather rock up at six and be disappointed than be there at lunchtime and be one of those people on the news.

You dont have to laugh and smile at the cameras

just wear a big hat, sunglasses and carry a newspaper (I'll have the Sun of course)....

Is 3G something you can turn on and off in those models just like you do with wifi? Just noticed that battery life suffers on the 3G models but I'm assuming that's because they've been tested with 3G enabled.

Bristol centre buying locations

So apparently there are at least 6 retailers in Bristol Cabot Circus/Broadmead who are launching the iPad at 17:00:

Apple Store
Carphone Warehouse
Argos
HMV
Curry's
PC World

How is it compared to other cities? Does this mean there will be no significant queues? Which is the place to go? :p

sorry for noobing around i've never been on a launch

JL @ Home

There is movement from JL@H, they seem to be happier to pass info on now:

Good Afternoon Mr Waddingham

Thank you for e-mailing John Lewis.

In response to your enquiry, I have forwarded your e-mail to the relevant department for them to reply to you directly.

I am wondering now if i need to travel to Exeter after all if all these other places are selling them too... not going to benefit from it. Or am it?

Expect a massive queue at the apple one. I would avoid CPW if you don't want a 3G version. Argos would be my favorite, next to HMV, but HMV will have queues from the 3DS.

Your list re-ordered in terms of likely stock and whether they are cetain size stores:

^^Most likely stock^^
Apple Store
PC World (if it has an Apple dept with in store stand)
Curry's (if a large one selling white goods)
Argos
HMV
Carphone Warehouse
^^Least likely stock^^

Apple Store
Argos
PC World (if it doesnt have an Apple dept with in store stand)
HMV
Curry's (if a small one not selling white goods)
Carphone Warehouse
^^Least likely stock^^

This would be my guess.

Croydon has similar, again with stock and the fact I know the store sizes:

PC World
JL@Home
Best Buy
Argos
Comet
Curry's
^^Least likely stock^^

Just contacted a few places who are expecting stock for friday, i'm beginning to question the need to queue for 5+ hours now.

Carphone Warehouse is apparently VERY likely to get them, mine is very small and hasn't even sold out all their iPad 1's yet, but they're already taking my reservations, and they know they're getting them.

Well, the earliest I can get to Cardiff Apple store is 1pm. Hope I'm in time...

These reports of "grease" lines appearing on the screen are putting me off the Smart Covers. I used to get a mark on the screen everytime I closed the original iPad case, right on the fold/fold of the cover.

What about guys in London?

If you're not looking to go to the Regents Street or Covent Garden stores.. what are you thinking?

Brent Cross (has Curry's and PC world if necessary) or Westfield?

Appreciate your thoughts guys.

Well _I_ think you guys are trying to reverse-psychology the rest of us into not kewing to make sure you get one on the day :)

It's worth noting that the red leather Smart Cover is a (Product) RED so anyone who's already considering that one might wanna pick it knowing that some of the cash is going to a good cause!!!

Yeah, it helps fight AIDS (Apple Infected Disk Syndrome), money goes to money that's all I'm saying!
