Well _I_ think you guys are trying to reverse-psychology the rest of us into not kewing to make sure you get one on the day :)

Not really hey, there are thousands of people outside this thread that want one, i wont be getting anything out of trying to dissuade anyone here from queuing.
I speak for myself when i say what i say, I called currys, JL, PC world and all of them are expecting stock. I will still head to an apple store but not as early as i made plans to. However, feel free to queue from 9am or earlier no one is stopping anyone, just remember to save me a place, hahaha just kidding, just kidding... :)

but the golden question really is: how early do should we stand in the que? 1-2 hours before launch is enough? there are half a dozen of retailers to go to, i really can't imagine huge ques at every single shop.. (maybe because i havent been to any launch)

I have it on good authority that John Lewis stores will have a limited number of stock on Friday. Some relatively large stores will only have 2 of each model - not sure whether this includes both colours however.

This is exactly what i expect at Argos, Comet, Bestbuy etc to be honest.

Slagging off a product that contributes to fighting AIDS, malaria and TB in Africa (albeit in a small way), nice!

I was taking the mick, I am not that harsh, just a standing joke that (over 5 years old) that Apple use it to get some more profit from any likely charity givers. Sorry if I offended you personally, just a joke.

I think there won't be a queue at every store, it's probably just for the big ones such as Covent Garden, Regent Street in London for example...

Agree. Logically there are large number of 3rd party stores across the country and we know stock is in short supply. Whatever amount of stock say Argos got, they'd have to divvy it up across all its retail stores.. means less per store..

If I was planning on getting one on launch date I'd go to an Apple store, they'd defo have more stock then anywhere else (yes and more crowds!)

I'll just be up on Thursday night waiting for the clock to tick over to 1am to order online and hope I get mine delivered before my birthday in May!

What about guys in London?

If you're not looking to go to the Regents Street or Covent Garden stores.. what are you thinking?

Brent Cross (has Curry's and PC world if necessary) or Westfield?

Appreciate your thoughts guys.

Would you suggest that Currys / PC World / Comet / JL / Argos would not be a good idea to target first? That a smaller apple store would be a best bet?

Just thinking about distribution of stock..

You didn't offend me, it just came across as ignorant rather than humorous. If you must joke about AIDS then you'd be wise to make a little more obvious that you are joking!

Tone of voice and facial expression don't transmit through the internet after-all!

why would you assume that?

Based on the stories i've been reading about the resellers in the US, and how many they recieved.

I realise that the stock levels between the US and UK are seperate, but dont forget that they are launching across 14(?) countries on Friday, not just the US, so in essence the launch area is similar if not bigger.

I honestly can't believe they will be giving 50-100 units to almost every argos/comet/jl across the country.

Honestly wouldnt be surprised if your local argos had like 8 units or so each.

Go Comet!

woah.. :( 8 units each sounds bad.. i wouldn't even call that a launch..

so apple stores have usually large(r) stocks? because if so, then i would rather queue there than in an argos

No they don't but it also depends on how much of an Apple fan you are and how many times you have seen this in various places/heard this one before in the "Apple world".

well thats my guess mate! many other people here disagree with me, and i really hope the are right and i'm wrong

either way i cant afford more than half a day to queue so i'm not fussed. either i get one or i dont.

iawa, just an idea. could you set a similar questionnaire to the one about which model to select for asking people which store they intend to go to, apple, comet, argos e.t.c and what time they intend to start queueing. i would do it myself if i knew how haha. just an idea

Wish I had one already! Will most likely go to the Regent Street Apple store or Covent Garden on friday. Hoping for minimal queues :(

Would this really help as it is not going to be area specific....

I made one for the Purley Way in Croydon for the 25th so people in the area can see where others are queuing.

I'm with you on this, even if there is it won't be more than 20 or 30 and even then I'd be quite surprised.

Bit I'm still gong early though :D
