Correct, I ordered 2 iPads from Apple US in the first 5 minutes of launch on the 11th. Delivery date (to the US) was 8 days later.
(they cancelled the order eventually - bastards)
Blimey. I was hoping to pre-order at 1:01am on the 25th and sit back and expect delivery next Monday or Tuesday
A relative who's fairly high up the JL tree. I don't have much more info regarding their specific stores though. I assume that the likes of Comet etc will have similar levels to JL but that's just a mere guess.

They got cocky not letting us pre-order, they didn't know how well ipad 1 would do so they let us pre-order, now they're just pissing all over us.

just received PC World mailshot, which is pretty much the same as the Comet one posted a few pages back... says 5pm Friday...

Little nasty bit of news here, my local big currys+pc world joint store and comet in Rugby have been told they wont be receiving any on the launch...
My local Comet also played ball and looked up on the system the SKU numbers.
The stock has arrived in a bonded warehouse, just not physically in the Comet stores.
Like the other guy, with the SKU you can secure and collect with little hassle.
I will confirm that the SKU listed a few pages back is correct.

hmm all my comet store did was put me on a list for what i want and on friday will call me if they have them.
if i get the proper sku i could potentially reserve
i just called comet general line and he said i have to physically go into the store and they will reserve an iPad 2 on a £10 deposit..

Phoned through to my local Comet to be told that they only know its coming on the 25th and will be on sale from 5pm..dam my local Comet!
i couldn't get through to my local comet, but the general enquiries bloke said it's OK for me me to go to the store and do it..
maybe diff info from diff people obviously?
my local store isn't too far, 10 min drive.. so worth a punt
Yep, same here, said I had to go in at 5pm on the day, which i won't make as can't get time off from work
@mmoosa - The SKU I posted was for a Black iPad 2 16GB. I'm sure the helpline or your local store would tell you the SKU's.
@dalvin - I would assume if they were stocking the iPad's that they would be able to order in the Smart Cover's however I am not totally sure. And yes, it certainly is worth a shot to try and get one on the Friday.

White with red leather cover an excellent choice. Same for me.
Why the extra grey one?
In the US not eveywhere had stock of every kind of iPad.
Some only had 16 wifi. Some had no 3G at all. Or only 64GB 3G or only verizon.
Some places had only 3G and only 5 iPads.
The point is the demand in the US was one country and apple basically sold out.
People arriving at 3pm were not getting iPads. Even 2 hours in advance was too late at Apple stores.
So you have a choice - queue at Apple from 1pm and you can probably get any iPad 2. Any later and you may not get anything. Queue somewhere else and your taking a chance. You may not get an iPad as they don't hav much stock or they may simply not have the iPad model you want.
They were expecting the US release to be less than last year and it was BIGGER. So now you have around ten other countries PLUS the UK on Friday.
It WILL sell out. I promise you.
I would personally place an online order with credit card which won't b pe charged until it is shipped and then go a queue as well. That way you are covered shoji you strike out online.
