iPad 2 UK Thread

Possibly although I'm trying to avoid queueing for ages though so I'm keeping my options open. My plan so far:

  1. Order one online at 1am
  2. Try to reserve one from any of the retailers
  3. Drive to meadowhall and check out pc world on the way
  4. Queue up at the apple store
  5. Cancel the online order if successful

I don't want to queue until 4pm at the earliest however I do want to make sure I get one...

It won't do this since on the stock system every iPad is labelled "IPAD 2 WIFI".

Even the Wifi+3G ones.
 
Haven't hankered around the shops too much here in Swindon, but the local PC World isn't on the list online, so i'm guessing that Currys won't have any either.
May have luck with the two Argos stores here, and Comet is a pretty small store so probably won't have any. Anyone in Swindon been in contact with either of those stores?

The Apple Reseller confirmed that they are getting some in stock though, so they'll probably be my port of call after an early college finish on Friday :D

A week at best, the US has long delays but they may have enough to supply for the first few thousand orders for the UK, never know till they put it up on their site.
They ship direct from China from what the internet is saying.
 
I think that this is pathetic from Apple. They know that there is a demand and they simply have decided to restrict the supply, possibly to increase the chance of securing the price at maybe a higher level.

Why oh why is the release set for 5pm? Surely they would have more business if they said say 12pm?

(I know, don't call me Surely!)

I will be taking a trip down to the Apple store in Cribbs, but will not queue if it is 5pm. They can either pre-order me one or I will come home and wait for a while.

I suppose it really depends from where it is shipped from, if its UK then I am confident in getting it quite quick depending on the courier they use.

Your reservation will have been canceled by KRCS as no one is allowed to reserve instore, especially at an authorised reseller like KRCS - why publish this on an open forum?

I ordered mine from the US and it arrives tomorrow - can't wait.:)

Depends, some in the US did that and are still waiting.

Even if it dispatches within 24hrs, it has to come from china so i'd suggust Wednesday-Thursday, possibly Friday.

Do you reckon I'll be safe with that? I too have done all my homework and have watched/called/talked to everyone but I'm at college all day, live in a relatively small town, and yes I would have been happy to order online at 1AM but this seemed like a better idea.

What spec is your ordered iPad 2? for £399 it is rather cheap,,,matches the price of the first gen 32GB.....I doubt even the 16GB new version is £399!
Don't put your faith in Comet....their customer service is terrible (like most high street electrical stores/mobile phone/television/etc etc

It's 16GB. And the pricing matches what was released from Apple. I think I will put my faith in Comet, just this one time.
 
Below is from apple website to put anyone's mind at rest about ordering online for backup, I doubt it will be dispatched by 5pm judging by the USA initial lead time of 2-3days

JUST SEEN

Apple UK Website has confirmed the 5pm launch!! So I guess no trip to get one as I have to be somewhere at 5pm. Online order then it is!
 
Ipad 2 comet pre-order me too

Just to confirm I honestly paid a £50 deposit for a £399 Apple Ipad 2 16gb WiFi black tonight at 7pm in Comet with the ipad to be paid for fully and collected at Friday 5pm.

They are only getting 3 black ipad 2 models and 2 white ipad 2 models according to the till.
 
Ok guys, my first post here as I will be in Glasgow on Friday.

One question though: If I would order online, does anyone have an idea, when it will be delivered?
