Can only speak for the middle of those networks (colleague, works there) and they are definitely getting stock, though numbers is anyones guess until Thursday.

Do you have any idea on the prices at all? I'm assuming each networking will sell them at the same price with different tarriff's like the iPad 1.

Really hoping I can get one over the weekend as I'm going away for a week with work on Monday.

Okay so here is an update from the Bournemouth and Poole Area.

I phoned PC world, they said that not all PC World stores are going to have them on Friday, I was told I should call Friday morning to find out...

John Lewis at Home is having them available for purchase at 9:30 am, but they are not actually in store, and they will ship them from a warehouse within 5 working days, or get them delivered to the store for collection on Monday/Tuesday.

HMV Poole said they are not getting any in, and they didn't think Bournemouth were either.

Couldn't get through to the Argos store, but they all close at 5:30 round here anyway, so I bet they wont sell them until Saturday.

Apple store at West Quay in Southampton is another option, but I really don't fancy queueing up in a busy shopping centre for hours. The Parking alone will cost an arm and a leg!

I will try and call Apple Solutions in Bournemouth later today, but they never get stuff in on launch day.

I have never been bothered about a product launch before, but I waited a whole generation with iPad and enough is enough! Is it always this stressful?!

Not quite no. for the iphone 4 launch, i woke up at 6am, showered, then was at the queue at Moorgate O2 by 7am, about 50 people in line ahead of me.

Got the phone i wanted and was out by 11, much later than planned - but it takes longer to set people up on contracts than it does to buy an ipad.

I told my boss he called me a gimp then said he didnt expect anything less of me :)

I had a dream last night that I was first in the queue in Dublin but they were manufactoring iPads in the shop for people :L this is taking over my life, would Friday hurry up already!!!! :p

You sure about the JL @ Home having to order them in? I work in one and was told that we will have them in stock in stores, don't quote me on it though as I haven't been in since Sunday so things may have changed.

Well that's what the guy on the phone said yesterday (pre-press release). He seemed to know what he was talking about, sounded like he was reading the plans off a form rather than just guessing (like PC World have been).

He said it was to stop people "Being Naughty" and buying loads, which I assume means they are worried about stock levels.

Are you going into the store again before Friday/could you ask a colleague the plans?

EDIT: My local John Lewis at home is a 2 minute walk from where I live, so if they have stock it would be good!

Has anyone contacted Three, Orange or vodafone to see if stores will have some models in stock on Friday?

Looking to get a 3G model so it's worth going with 3 to get a cheaper iPad. Just wondering if they'll have any on launch or I'll have to wait a couple of weeks.

Yes I was told by my closest store that they get deliveries on Fridays and to call nearer the time (tomorrow) to find out if they will be getting them at launch.

ETA: I just called to make sure and my closest 3 store are taking names. They still dont know what they are getting but its worthwhile calling and putting your name down if you can. Good luck :)

After all my hard work

Hey guys, an update from me on my iPad 2 plans, unfortunately I will no longer be joining my fellow Purley Way queuers :( but I am getting an iPad 2! :p

Please still fill in the, iPad 2 UK Purley Way queue form on the day so you can check who is where/how busy the stores are. Also the iPad 2 Model Popularity Form and the general iPad 2 Store & Times Popularity Form

The results are already pretty handy for those after specific models! I am still waiting back to hear from the stores etc. I contacted so will still update these and any other juicy info! :D

Update from Newcastle, just been in pcworld at Kingston park to see if stocking on Friday. Was told the only pcworld in North East getting any stock was Gateshead, may be a visit to apple stores if Argos don't have any

As far as I am aware the prices are the same as before pre-price drop. ie: £25pm and 199, 249 and 349 across the three models.

Urgh... Things like this to not bode well for my small town Currys + PC World Megastore...

Independant IT stores

Just a thought guys but I had a comment from a user on my blog asking about the distributer I have secured my iPad 2 with and I made a good point in my response:

Thanks Ashmanq, yes Computer 2000 is a distribution channel, we have a few suppliers where this is the case - it might be worth speaking to a small computer shop if you have one near you (an independant) as Computer 2000, Ingram Micro and some other distributers are getting stock so they may be able to buy it in for you if you are not successful or want to try this before launch day?

Just another idea as they have to take (essentially) pre-orders because they have no shop floor and wouldn't want everyone trying to phone at exactly 5pm on Friday - different rules to retail vendors too! And although the independant store would not be able to sell it to you until Saturday (because the distributer cannot get item shipped until 5pm Friday) he could order it in to arrive Sat morn like mine is!

Didn't notice the reply till you mentioned it now! Thanks I don't know any small computer shops near me that might sell the iPad. I guess I'll just have to order online and then maybe queue up Friday afternoon.

I've just been into my local Comet.... two very helpful ladies did some searching on the system for SKU's and phoned through to the warehouse....

For the 4 SKU's she checked (one was 64GB White 3G, the rest I'm not sure)... they were getting 1 of each.... Looks like Trafford Center for me.

Tell me!!, see my post further up, popped into PCworld near work about an hour ago to see if they will be stocking and he told me only 1 store in North East UK will be on launch:(

I'll pop in on my way home from work today and have a word.

Might be able to get some info about the South.

If I order online at 1am on Friday, and manage to buy one in store later in the day, will I be able to cancel my Apple order?

All this stress is getting to be too much! At this rate I may just order online and then try and forget about it (yeah right!)!
