Haha, I rang them and they didn't seem to care at all.

Well, you aren't allowed to preorder anymore, all Comet employees got an emailing saying that they could break the T&C's with Apple if they continued so this wouldn't achieve much at all.

I wasn't intending on pre-ordering, just asking if they would have any in stock at all. I'm sure I won't get anything useful but it's always worth a go.

Apple won't understock at their main retail outlets. I reckon the first 50-100 people in each line at an Apple store will get their hands on one easily.

The iPad 1/iPhone 4 lines were pretty long at my nearest store, but there was always plenty of stock available. Granted component issues might cause shortages in the near future, but if it was that severe our release date would have been pushed back past the 25th I reckon.

Thats the reason why intent on waiting a stupidlly long term :)D).

The Batteries are made in Japan, as well 2-3 other components. The factories(s) shut down after the quake/big wave while they assess damage etc. That was about 2 weeks ago now, then apple said they had enougth to maintain what were production levels for 2-3 weeks.

Not sure if they have started production of the components again yet. Not heard anything.

I Want my iPAD (2) :D:D

My company can go back to getting a full days work out of me on Monday (half day on friday anyway!)

Haha yes! I've put so much college work off this week to sit here and push F5. I'm too cool.

Good thing Comet have price matching. http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Apple-Accessories/buy-APPLE-MC942ZM/A-Apple-Accessorie/713465 I think they've priced themselves a little above the Apple SRP

Ever tried getting a price match from Comet? I've had a go twice (once on a TV, once on a camera). Both times they had "good" reasons why they wouldn't price match - including once where they pretended to call the other store who "confirmed" they had no stock! (I went down to the other store and bought the TV from their "non-stock). The only reason I wanted to use Comet was it was a big TV and I wanted to park outside rather than two of us carrying a big box through town - the other store was in a pedestrian area, no access through bollards after 10am even for loading/unloading. So I carried, but never forgave Comet. They are now the last place I try for stuff.

I don't know about you but I've mainly been pushing ⌘R... :p

/spending two days doing nothing but reloading this thread and the Apple page in equal measure didn't amount to much work being done... glad they announced it yesterday or I'd still be doing nothing....

Yeah, they once sold me a Freeview TV which once I installed it turned out to not have a digital tuner, they really didn't want to give me my money back either lol
I'll never use them again.

Really sorry if either of these two questions have been asked already but I don't have enough time to read through like 20,000+ posts here!

Ok if anyone can help me...
Q1 - I am planning to queue up on Friday for the release however, I might never get one on the day if the stock is low. SO... If I order one online at 1am and it gets to 6pm on Friday and I have managed to get one can I still cancel the order or will it be a hassle to cancel it?
Q2 - An above post said you need to bring documentation with you for the iPad... This is just if you want one with 3G right? I'm just going for the wifi one so I won't need all that documentation will I??

Thanks in advance and I hope its all clear!

Had a chat with the manager at PC World (a megastore) today and he told me he had the iPads sitting in the back! He had 70 in total, about 6 of each model, and demo units will be out to use at 2:30pm on Friday.

He also mentioned that once he's sold out head office has informed them not to expect any shipments for at least two weeks... and to direct customers to their online store to order. Guess this means once the resellers have sold out, its only apple stores which will receive shipments for the upcoming weeks....

Feeling the added pressure now!

Hey there,

As long as the iPad you order online doesn't prepare to ship/already ships (doubtful) by 6PM then you are free to cancel it. If the exact money has been taken by Authorisation Hold for the iPad 2, that will drop back in within 3-5 business days.
You will most certainly not need any documentation to buy a WiFi only version.

Hope it helps.

Solihull Apple Store

Anybody going to the Solihull Apple Store? I am going to try there but cant get there till 5:30 earliest. :(

It's a small store (the genius bar has about 3 people), so I'm not optimistic I'll get one.

Noticed it earlier.

Won't be taking any of that stuff with me as will be providing my PAYG sim, and thats link is just for peeps wanting to take out a contract at the time of purchase :)

Anyone got any news about stock for KRCS?

What are the chances of my getting a white 16 or 32gb wifi only iPad 2 from Covent Garden if I turn up and start queueing at 4pm on Friday?!

Was this one of the stores on the list or not?
