you guys make me sick. i am still being prepared for shipment. i think someone posted on the forums that his ipad was scheduled for delivery today. curses!

how can the ipad third gen be scheduled for delivery today if the release date is the 16th!!!

I was surprised to see a shipment notification already this morning. Has anybody else gotten a notice? Mine is shipping via Federal Express, and a tracking number is provided. The tracking number is not yet live.

Several (probably a lot more than several) shipped yesterday. I got my notification at 10 yesterday morning. UPS probably because of a business address.

How long did it take you guys to receive the email confirming the order and one with a tracking number? I just ordered this morning and it did give me a delivery date of the 16th. Is there the possibility that the delivery date would change knowing I ordered two days after the announcement?

I ordered the IP3 and ATV3 as soon as the store came back up after the keynote. I also received an email at 12:44 am confirming that my engraved unit has shipped from Hong Kong. Apparently on UPS. Still shows delivery on the 16th. My ATV3 has apparently NOT shipped yet.

iPad being shipped from Middletown, PA

I live about 15 miles north of Philadelphia, PA. I just got my email notification from Apple saying my iPad has been shipped. Under the shipping history it also states that it has been picked up from Middletown, PA which is only 2 hours from me. Can I expect my order sooner than the 16th? If my order is on a truck somewhere, I wouldnt mind driving there right now to pick it up!

I got my email today. Item has shipped! It's through FedEx and the tracking number has the estimated delivery 3/16 by 3:00pm. I also see that it was picked up in Middletown PA with details "Future delivery requested".

I'm guessing apple has told FedEx to hold it at there processing center/hub till the 16th.

It's doubtful. Apple usually gives orders to the carrier's (FedEx/UPS) to not deliver before a certain date. The 16th in this case.

You may get it a day or two early. I'm sure Apple has instructions with FedEx not to release the iPads until a certain date. It's worth a shot though. Call them, they seem to be the most flexible of shipping companies when it comes to early pickups.

Mine is coming from the same place. Specifically says "future delivery date requested"

It's a shot in the dark I know...but with so high demand for the 16th wouldn't a mass majority of there carriers be shut down only to focus on iPad/ATV delivery's?

I wonder if FedEx/UPS might ship some early to prevent that.
