They shouldn't name this phone with a number attached to it. It would give it its own identity without getting lost in the number scheme of the phones.

"Horrible" = "causing or likely to cause horror; shocking". Are you filled with horror? How do you feel about, say, genocide?
Troll! You also must be one of the guys that watch every syllable to be correct , the grammar police , or obviously troll comment.

Here is something to think about. in future, if Apple wants to replace audio 3.5mm jack with lightening equivalent in iphone than ipad Air 3 is the best product to introduce and test water. Even Apple can do both and see if people likes audio quality better from lightening over coming out from 3.5mm.

Who cares what it's called as long as it 'just works'
Seriously, I am one to admit that the naming of phones has been a little off, but c'mon..I already for a new, smaller, non-tablet phone. As far as I'm concerned, you could call it the 'Hey, we made another small phone again'

I hope that isn't the camera that Tim was using.

That was an interesting post by Tim. I use an iPad for my work in merchandising and I am always told "Check your shot before you upload..other people are looking" Big goof by Timmy Boy.

1. Apple should really stop all these leaks on forthcoming products. Would be nice to receive a genuine surprise at the launch events.
2. Apple also needs to rethink its multiple model names strategy. 5se??? Is this a blast from the past? If that's truly the direction Apple is going--multiple models with different names and features--goodbye simplicity and hello again to the late 1980s and early 1990s mess that was multiple Mac models. iPhone 7 in three sizes please with identical features. Simple for customers, better for developers to program.
3. Apple catered to the design savvy crowd a decade ago. Apple has been on a mission in the past few years to go for the other part of the untapped market which is defined by those with no taste. Protruding camera, terribly obvious antenna lines (ie gold, rose gold) and a range of tacky colours are hallmarks of this mission. Happy to hang on to my ageing five year old iPhone until a better design presents.

My predictions for the rumored March event:

iPad Air 3
  • 9.7" 1536x2048 display
  • Pencil support
  • A9 SoC, CPU clock > 1.85 GHz
  • 3 GB RAM
  • 4 speakers
  • Smart Connector
  • 32 GB, 128 GB
iPhone 5se
  • 4.0" 640x1136 display
  • A8 SoC or an A9 SoC with a CPU clock < 1.85 GHz
  • 16 GB, 64 GB
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 8 MP camera
Apple Watch
  • New bands
iOS
  • iOS 9.3 demo
I make no predictions on other things at this time.

If the Air 3 has an A9X, 4gb RAM, and Apple Pencil support, I may sell my iPad Pro.
It's not gonna happen.

iPad Air 2 – A8X – 7.340mAh (27,6Wh) – 10W Adapter
iPad Pro – A9X – 10.307mAh (38,8Wh) – 12W Adapter

Battery life is the reason why the iPad Air 3 will only have an A9 (not A9X) probably with 2GB RAM. And instead of pencil support, it will have 3D Touch as that is what it needs to run universal iOS apps.
The same tiny amount of people who care about the awful 12 inch MacBooks?
How do you know the 12-inch MacBook isn't the best selling Mac already?

“I’m not convinced people want to watch movies on a tiny little screen. To paraphrase Bill Clinton, ‘It’s the music, stupid, it’s the music!’ Music’s been around for a long time, will continue to be, it’s huge.” - Steve Jobs, 2003

And then the 5th Gen in 2005 had video.

"It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore." - Steve Jobs, 2008

And then we see iBooks in 2009.

"There are no plans to make a tablet. It turns out people want keyboards…. We look at the tablet, and we think it is going to fail." - Steve Jobs, 2003

Again, 2009 with the iPad.

"Given that all tablet users will already have a smartphone in their pockets, giving up precious display area to fit a tablet in our pockets is clearly the wrong tradeoff. The seven-inch tablets are tweeners, too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with an iPad." - Steve Jobs, 2010

And then the iPad Mini in 2012.

Never treat Jobs' words as gospel. Especially in the 2000s and later, he seemed perfectly willing to change his tune if there was a reason compelling enough to do so. Those of us clamoring for the Pencil on the Air are doing so for the precise reason that fingers suck as writing input devices. And the iPad's size makes it ideal for many for writing input, and all the existing styluses on the market for writing input are compromises at best. The demand has been there for quite a while.

Don't forget:

"Apple makes computers and computers have keyboards."
- Steve Jobs during the Newton reassimilation meeting (foreshadowing the killing of the Newton)

Exactly! Sadly, Apple is not losing its edge. It already lost its age. Jony already polluted software departments designing dumbest mac UI Apple could ever have. When they first time showed flat UI of ios to Tim, I wish Tim have said in Steve's style "This is Sh*t"

There's probably a good reason he didn't - because it's not. I LOVE the iOS flat design.

Thank you Mr Kuo! Looking forward. Well, I'd be looking forward if there were laptops coming...

I read something about iOS 9.3 possibly bringing back the possibility to sync tracks correctly from iTunes to phones. Now THAT would be an innovation *cackle* I'd like to see.

Definitely wanting to update my 5S, but last year's leftovers aren't going to cut it. There had better be a 4" version of the iPhone 7 this fall, or I'm holding out for another year. Get it through your thick head Tim, there's plenty of people who want a flagship phone that isn't phablet sized.

Get it through your thick head, there's plenty of other mobile phone manufacturers besides Apple.

I have my phone on silent with no vibrator on, all the time.
I´m not spending $1000 just to see the notifications I'm trying to ignore :)

When the day comes that Apple understands that the watch should be the main device and the big-screen the accessory, then I will be first in line :)

I agree they should focus more on the watch in making a breakthrough.
They have the soc expertise and battery optimalisation knowledge(in software) to do a homerun on this device.
Make it faster, make the communication between the iphone and watch a lot faster, make it more independent of the iphone, give it gps, slim it down a little, give it smaller bezels( curved/edged screen) .Make bands with added health sensors, perhaps built in battery, camera, and they would have the most advanced watch in the market right now.

But apple seems to be worried too much about margins right now to release new techniques.
Stop about worrying about the margins right now for the apple watch. Make something ground breaking. For the margins rely on the iphones en iPads and macs now.
Make a watch everybody wants, to establish a name in the wearables space and just when the iphone really stalls in growth, make a switch too rely more on apple watch for margins.

Bet on the new horse now, instead of waiting the old horse to run out of breath, invest in the new horse, be satisfied with less margins/winnings for now and collect more money further down the road.

Personally looking forward to the iPhone 10S, but it probably won't be announced in this event either.
I' m rather interested in the 14 inch and 16 inch MacBooks pro.
Have an updated 12 inch macbook replace the macbooks air.
And relaes a 14 inch and 16 macbook pro with the same design as the 12 inch macbook but with more powerfull hw to replace the current pro' s.

I for one can't wait for the new 4" iPhone. I love the size of my 5s, which my daughter will inherit on her 10th birthday, March 2., perfectly aligned (if the rumors are true) with the release of the new 4" iPhone. 4" is a perfect phone size. I don't have small hands, but still think the 6 and 6 plus are to big.

You are not in the target market. Everybody except for the worst fanatics upgrades every two years, and if you were in the "worst fanatics" group you would have a 6s already. The target market are iPhone 4, 4s and maybe 5 users who don't want a big phone.

That's the reason people says Apple cant innovate anymore. Like earlier days they are not interested in stepping into future technology. They are more interested in making cheaper products, pack old things in new packet to get more sales and gain money with bigger market share

You make me laugh. The same argument (cheaper products, more sales, bigger market share) have been used by the trolls for years as an argument that Samsung is an innovator. If Apple does it, Apple can't innovate anymore.

Not so sure the 5c was a disaster in some countries. I think the cheaper phones do give Apple access to countries that are more budget minded. If the new 5se has an A8 chip in it, that will be a very good upgrade in power for a smaller screen phone and should make it very competitive among the lower cost phones.

Here's what the 5c did: It was cheap(ish). It was ugly (IMO, I'm sure somebody loved it and bought it for the way it looks). It got people into the store, then they realised the 5s was much better value, and bought a 5s. Lots of people wouldn't have bought the 5s if the 5c hadn't got them into the store. So the 5c made lots of money for Apple, even without selling. Similar to the first MacBook Air, which brought people into the stores, and then they realised the MacBook Pro was better value and bought it.

Definitely considering dumping the iPhone 6s for this iPhone.
I'm considering dumping my 6 Plus for the 5se too. My phone lives in my pocket when I'm not using it. The 6 Plus has been a real pain to carry that way. Besides I'm tired of all of the "Is that an iPhone 6 Plus in your pocket or are you just happy to see me" comments.
