I was so paranoid before I received mine because of this thread, but fortunately my launch day 3G 64GB is a nice pure white without any yellowish tones. No screen bleed either so I'm happy :)

My wifi has a white/blue tint and the 3G has a little yellow tint to it. I have been using the 3G more and gotten use to the yellow. Not sure if I will try to exchange because it doesn't bother me that much.

I checked the apple store earlier today and all the ipads on display had some form of yellow tint on the right side of the iPad. I guess I will wait until the problem is fixed.

So last night I was using my white MacBook unibody and it's screen has a little yellow tinting on the right side of the screen. Other than that it's extremely beautiful screen. Does this issue have anything to do with led panels or is this issue just variation of crappy panels :p

Im not under any kind of LSD or anything i swear
i was reading a manga so a bright page with great white

anyway....i push without any purpose the sound bouton or i think...anyway suddenly my screen went yellow-ish, and even more on the right side on the screen

seriously, all of a sudden

it has the same yellow taint i had with my 3GS before i change it

No no and No

Mine is fine to me display is just right, reading has been very good
even in daylight.
No Wi-fi issue's either in fact I get better wi-fi on it then I do on
a laptop in the back of the house.
I have the 3g but have yet to try it out, but over all it has been great
and it is no more and no less then what I expected it to be.

IPad definitely has yellow tint issue

Hey guys I know no one wants to hear this but my iPad and 2 others (bought from 3 different states) seem to have the yellow screen defect. Cool blue towards the left and yellowish toward the right. Anyone else have this? It's very apparent esp on a white background.....

My iPad have NO problems. NO dead pixels, NO yellow tint issue etc.
My friends iPads have NO problems. NO dead pixels, NO yellow tint issue etc.
My fathers iPad have NO problems. NO dead pixels, NO yellow tint issue etc.
My mothers iPad have NO problems. NO dead pixels, NO yellow tint issue etc.
The 20+ iPads we have at work have NO problems. NO dead pixels, NO yellow tint issue etc.

So... the iPad does NOT have yellow tint issues.

I have both WiFi and 3G versions of the iPad and the screens look GREAT!

Some will never be happy and should just move on. I would

Maybe the problem is really the person and not the screen. Of course, those people will object to this statement.

What I have found is that in some viewing areas I'll get the yellow tint and in other areas I won't. I think it is the lighting around you when your viewing. Outside yesterday I saw it. Last night in bed with no lights on I didn't. Right now I'm not.....turn on a florescent light and I will. It's not a big enough deal to be concerned.

Definite yellowing issue on the right side of the screen here :(

I noticed it within about 10 mins of first using the iPad and it led me to do a google search which led me to this thread. It is quite noticeable on white backgrounds and webpages

I would take it back to the apple store but, unfortunately, I live in Dubai and had my friend in Chicago send this to me. Now I'm stuck. Sometimes it doesn't bother me that much, other times it does (like tonight).

Ideas anyone? I'm over in the States in a couple of months but, short of shipping it back to the US, I can't think of what else to do.

It is a 3G 64GB.

I have to agree on the issue. I got mine yesterday as a bday gift and immediately I noticed the warm color on the right side and cool color on the left side. I googled "ipad yellow screen" and it led me to this forum. I own a MBP and the colors on the screen on my laptop is wayyy cooler (blue/white) whereas my iPad 3G is warm. My younger brother has the WiFi only version and his looks like my MBP. It's really evident when typing because the letter "Q" that's located on the left side has a different color in comparison to return/enter button!

I just registered this id to share my experience with my ipad. Hope this would help someone who is having the same problem and hesitating about what to do.

One week after I got mine from local Bestbuy, it came to me that the left half of the screen(when home button down) has a yellow hue. It is not that obvious at first sight, but it kinda catch your eye when you browse the web or read books on a white background, especially after you notice it.

I showed mine to two of my friends. One agrees with me and he even noticed the problem before I told him explicitly, while the other cannot detect the problem even if I showed him how the color varied from one side of the screen to the other.

I finally decide to take mine back and show them to the staff at bestbuy, but when I checked online, they ran out of stock. So I called the local apple store and asked whether they can take care of such things. They fixed me up with an appointment with genius bar, and when I showed my ipad to the guy behind the bar, he couldn't see the problem, but he was really friendly and offered to swap it for me for free to make sure I am happy with it (I think someone mentioned it earlier that apple stores does have new ipads for swaps sealed in a different and simpler package - just the ipad and no accessories). However, when I saw the new ipad, it had an even worse screen than my original one.:( I checked another three of the tens of ipads on display in the store. The three all had the imbalance of color(or temperature, whatever you call it), but to different degrees.

I admit that the screen is not that bad and is more of a psychological reinforcement -you just keep telling yourself that the yellow hue is there. Although according to my eyes, it really is. I will just focus on what I am reading and try to ignore the minor imbalance.

Complete BS or you just have bad eyes.

I just got my 64 GB 3G in Australia. I'm wondering if any of you guys can see it. The right side is a tad warmer than the left (with the home button down)

Here are 2 photos taken of the bookmarks menu in portrait.

1. One with the home button down. (bookmarks menu is in the cool side)

2. One with the home button up (bookmarks menu is in the warm side)

Frankly a bit irritated by this.

Any chance this might be fixed by a software update?

Typing on my new iPad now and the screen is perfect. In fact, I've never has an Apple display that was so it was a big surprise. No leaking, not a single dead/stuck pixel, and a uniformly white screen. I'm very impressed by the color accuracy. Saturation and grey scale is perfect. Even better than my 2010 MBP.

I've easily returned a dozen apple products due to poor screens so it's the first thing I scrutinized out of the box.
