I know, but Apple's idea of an "unbelievable price" in rip-off Britian might be vastly different to ours.

Initial sales figures should teach them a lesson if they don't get it right.

Brits are about the most thrifty nation on earth, combined with a recession and not even Apple will get away with it, especially not when they are remedying their old pricing woes in the US at the same time.

I think it says alot that on the day the iPad is launched in the USA, the "iPad UK news?" thread is still constsintely towards the top of the forum listings!

Have we reached feverpitch yet, folks?

It's coz you have it and we don't and it's no fair!

The yanks are all busy playing Warp Gate and reading the NYT on the brand new shiny iPads while we're the only one's left on this sorry board!

I hate to say it, but the recession didn't affect most people. It only affected people who were already below the target market for a device like this. Most people who buy an Apple device aren't really concerned about the price, considering for the most part, they are more expensive than their competitors.

Do you remember the O2 and iPhone 3GS row over the recession?

No but it gave Brits an excuse to be even more tight.

Honestly, I don't think Americans realise the death grip with which people in this country cling to their disposable income lmao.

All the excitement on this thread is making me eye up iPads on eBay. But I know fine well I could save myself approx £100 by waiting (then blow it on accessories and apps).

Must..be...strong.

Delivered to Bundlebox on way to UK shortly

Well my iPad has arrived at Bundlebox (10:20 local time). Now to arrange shipment to the UK, I reckon I should have it by Wednesday or Thursday.

Depends on Customs. I've had stuff held up for literally several weeks - especially so when it is either something they've never encountered before or is extremely obscure.

I think this will be easier as it arrives with duty and VAT already paid.

I can't believe there's literally not even a shred of news, not so much as a whispering, not even a whispering of a rumour!

Hope you're right. Just a wee hint of a pre-order, anything. Otherwise, I'll be drawn back to the eBay darkside.

I can cope with not having an exact release date yet (like 3G for the yanks) and maybe not even being able to pre-order. But we don't know the pricing, we don't know the availability and we don't know if we'll get iBooks (and even iWork apps haven't made it to the UK store yet...).

Anyone else notice that on the 3G page on our UK Apple site, they explain that if you want 3G, you have to go find a carrier who does the MicroSIMS and go see what they offer. No info about Apple looking to strike a deal or anything, just information saying that if 3G is what you want, then get looking.

Yep! O2 and Orange have Micro SIMs

Is yours showing in the arrived shipments bit yet? Mine arrived same time as yours according to UPS tracking, but not showing on the Bundlebox site yet.

There was a news item about 2 or 3 weeks ago about Apple execs flying into the UK to cut a deal with one or more networks for the iPad.

One wonders why Apple is letting every Apple employee outside the US sit with their thumbs firmly up their arses rather than work on the international release, it's not like updating the international stores with info is going to interfere with the US launch in any way at all.
