Yeah the plastic part of the adapter is the same height as the width of the power brick part, it's just the pins sticking up making it higher. So yeah, the box will be bigger. no biggie

Dude! you started picking away at this guys comment about the box. you made it a biggie. lolz

If you'd followed where this had started from, you'd probably be less of a pill about it.

But thanks for your input.

I've read the thread, calm down, I'm as excited about this as you are, carry on like this and you'll be heading for a box:apple:

i may avoid MR for the next few days
but at least the wait is not as long as the iphone US to UK was
that was unbearable :(

Yeah you're right. When somebody is repeatedly, obtuse and totally misunderstands your point, you should just stay quiet and not try to explain it.

I forgot that's how debate works.

Ok let's draw a line under that tangent and get back to news re UK iPad release/pre-orders.

your debate is fine, I agree with you!

well said! here's to a UK ipad in three weeks!

I might go the bundlebox way in a few week's time, depending on how the pricing works out. Let me tell you, this is annoying.

Guys, lets all remember that so far Apple has not reneged on its word on the UK iPad issue - it keeps saying "Coming late April" and its April 2/3 now. Apple could enable pre-ordering next week for end April, it could defer us straight to online/shop purchases at the end of the month and many other options. Fact of the matter is, we shall soon know what's going on via official Apple communiques. I would be very surprised if we had no news by end of next week. But, as things stand, we should all be counting down to April 30 - as there is no reason to think that the iPad shall be in our hands after that date :)

ive seen a few threads about bundlebox, what is it???

It's a service that ships the product in the US to an US address, which then ships the product to you, wherever you live. They can even pay for the item for you :)

Their iPad backlog seems to be easing now.

Can't remember if it was from an official source but *somewhere* said that they wouldn't release pricing info until the release date. That may mean we don't get pre-orders over here.

Not sure why the delay with announcing pricing outside the US.

If people are queuing up on the morning of the 24th for an iPad they don't even know the price of..

Wow.

Do you guys think the iPad will be popular over here at launch? I just don't think that there seems to be as much interest over here, and when I ask most folks about it they don't even know what I'm talking about! I get the feeling it will be easier to just walk into a store and buy one here rather than for our cousins across the water. Not that I'm going to take that chance though as I'll pre order at the first opportunity!

I guess people here in the uk aren't that exited yet because we're being ignored by apple. When they bless us with dates and a price I'm sure there pr machine will whip everyone into a frenzy!

If you look at the positive side of this delay, at least we'll know if the hype is worth it before we have to part with our cash, unlike our American cousins who are essentially buying it blind...
Of course, it would be nice to know just how much of our cash we'll have to part with and I really don't understand why Apple are being so obstinate about releasing pricing outside of the US. It makes we wonder if it won't be quite so "unbelievable" as the US price is...

Yeah indeed, you're right of course. True interest will be revealed when we hear what the cost will be!

Yes agreed. This is why I'm very interested to read the reviews from a consumer viewpoint on here and other forums, so I can at least be somewhat informed about what to expect when it is finally launched here.

Please god I hope the pricing isn't ridiculous. Particularly as SJ made such a point about it being affordable...

We'll soon know. I have a funny feeling any reference to an 'unbelievable' price will be removed from the Apple website. Part of the problem is that the exchange rate is absolutely abysmal. If this were released in 2007, it would be an unbelievable price.

Yeah I've been expecting that too. They've updated the screen shots to show The Guardian so I expect this'll be next.

This wait for a price is killing me... also kind of need to know how much to sell my parents for!!

Same, and, I hope the Guardian doesn't start charging to content any time soon.

The price is REALLY important to me. The way I see it, we are talking anything from £379-499 for the 16gb wi-fi base model. Yes I know, it is not likely to be as low as £379 or has high as £499, but who really knows?
The thing is, the price of this "base" model has a knock-on effect upon the rest of the pricing (no doubt that the "starting from" price of the iPad is the most important in strategic/marketing terms), I want either a 16 or 32gb 3G model myself.

However, there comes a point where the iPad becomes just too damn expensive for what it is, even though it is surely amazing. I really want to get one when it is released, but I really feel we are being treated as second-class customers so far. I think it is fair to say at this point that most of us in the UK only want release & preorder dates along with pricing -that is NOT a lot to ask, IMO.

<<end of rant>>
it is safe for you all to come out from behind the sofa again.. sorry about that! :D

I'm seeing where you're coming from, JonnyIreland - the price of the base model having a knock-on effect with the other models.

First of all I was sure I only "needed" (read: wanted) a 16gb. Now looking at the sizes of some of the apps (I'm thinking of that tasty periodic table of elements thing that weighs in big), I wonder if a 32 or even a 64 is more my style. But it depends, as does everything these days (for me at least) on the damn price. Which of course we just don't know.

I want one come what may, and I'd hate to have to "settle" for one with less storage than I felt was ideal and had to keep syncing all the time because the price was too prohibitive for me to be able to afford the model I really wanted. If we had some indication of price before a launch, say three weeks before as our American friends did (well, to be fair they knew right from the keynote, so scratch that), I'd be able to know how much money I had to squeeze out of the household bills. I don't mind eating bread and cheese for a while in order to save the dough, but I need time in which to do it.

I don't think I could realistically cope with any less than 32gb, but as big of an Apple fan as I am, hand on heart, no SKU of this device is worth more than £500.
