Err that's one example mate.

When I say sad, don't interpret that as in a sarcastic hate kind of sad. I mean I feel it's sad in terms of it being a kick arse device that is well and truly screaming and capable to be used for Professional work but held back by its OS.

As I said I grabbed this for a trial, I love so much of it but.... well can't believe they are not pushing it more.

Maybe I am jumping the gun and the betas for the Pro line will have many of these features in ios10.

PS do you own one?

I just find it funny that you feel compelled to post how disappointed you are with the iPad, yet can't name more than one thing you can't do.

I own an iPad Air, which apart from my 6s+ is my only computer. So I 'practice what I preach'. And rather than being 'restrictive', I find it "connective", "intuitive", "secure", and "liberating".

I was expecting multiple accounts, maybe a kid mode...

Second time tonight someone's posted about not having a "kid mode". iOS has had this for years, folks.

For single app use:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access

or for full access controls:
Settings > General > Restrictions

Err that's pretty majors for anybody who does any work with documents.

Ok another - I have the USB kit but have been handed a flash drive with some large pics for editing afterall the iPad Pro is marketed for its editing capabilities with photos. USB storage does not work to grab some simple files from a hard drive / flash drive

How about a basic guest log on?

So yeah it's kinda "restrictive" for the basics
[doublepost=1465866272][/doublepost]PS - Maybe I'm wrong but I don't believe you can restrict people from the Mail app.

Hands up if I'm wrong here but if not its a basic implementation for Apple to make for probably the most important app to restrict people to

I'm not b^^^ing about anything other than after reading what they added, nothing really for me. Except opening two Safari Windows side by side. I was just expecting a whole lot of changes, just from the way iOS 10 was being built up on all the forums. I too think it's a bit underwhelming.

I still love my Ipad Pro though. Not going to complain about that. I will say, that Apple still is way behind the 8 ball when it comes to features that Android has had for years. That's why I'll never own an Iphone. Too basic and restricted. My IPP does all I need it to right now, except the ability to have more apps optimized for side by side and Optimized for the size of the screen also. That's just for my usage though.

But that's a limitation of the adapter, which is a camera usb connector, not a generic usb to lightning adapter. Your friend should have put the photos on an sdcard, that's what the sdcard to lightning adapter is for.
But all of this usb and adapter stuff is legacy methodology anyway. Camera's wi-fi to iPad direct, done. That's how I get my Sony RX100 photos onto my iPad.

Who are all these people you don't trust that you're handing your iPad over to? lol
Guided Access is for that scenario. Just give them Safari, for example.

USB drives are not legacy yet my friend!!

Guided access is not flexible. Such a simple restriction needs to be added like the other apps - its been complained about for a while and so simple to add. It reminds me of the way Apple handled mail attachments. And yes I run a business and value my company emails!!

Permanently preventing websites from loading the odd mobile version of a page on the iPad Pro is also a head scratcher. On mobile devices they have gone backwards on this and it used to good to disable in one setting for good.

Anyhow I will call it a day - as mentioned I'm not whinging about my purchase, but the mediocre update today (however maybe there is more to come for the Pro). I knew what it was but simply thought Apple would have had time to develop and unleash its potential - especially since this was the big 10 iOS.

I believe all these features will eventually come at some point, usual drip feed Apple method. The iPad Pro really is so close to being a winner though and that's what makes it a bit sad / frustrating.

God that was an underwhelming update for the iPad. Was really hoping they'd step up the iPad effort and actually justify naming the iPad Pro the iPad Pro.

Yeah plenty of people in the real world still use flash drives as it is easy, simple and efficient.

Guest log on should also be there. I don't want family going through my stuff, would love them to be able to log onto another account.

I can’t remember where I read/heard this, but rumours have it that iPad software improvements are slated for a 10.X release. Possibly during the iPad event later this year?

Once handwriting recognition is baked in, then we'll have an iPad Pro...until then, my Air 2 works fine for what iOS can do

The biggest news for the iPad (pro) owners were released last week by Phil Schiller and the press called it App Store 2.0. It opens the door for developers to create true pro apps with trial versions and charge higher prices. That's what the iPad Pro desperately needs right now.

Got iPad Air 2, realised after month that I do not need it, now its listen on eBay. I really do not need to "consume" even more excessive information. If I want to watch something on YT, will open my MBP 17'. And as a CS student, the productivity offered on the iPad is not enough for me. I am thinking about getting a larger phone, however, I think that the Plus will be really large and unwieldy for me.

After using the beta, I feel like there is going to be more for the iPad at a later release...There is so much that feels half baked, and a ton of stuff that looks like the iPad layout hasn't even been touched (identical landscape/portrait views, buttons and images with no padding and other similar visual things. It feels very unfinished compared to iOS 9 right now.

No support for creation of custom templates either in Pages or Word on the iPad.

No support for Word forms or even decent support for legacy text boxes (the ones you click onto and then type over).

No support for side by side view of the same office apps.

Just bought a Surface 3 and I'll be selling my iPad Air 2.

Since Apple keeps referring to the iPad as the computer of the future, I was very surprised they did not roll out multiple user capability in iOS 10.

Microsoft leaves something out of their iOS app, and your answer is to give them $1000? Ok, enjoy your Surface.

Those criticisms apply equally to pages.

I have a job where I need to be able to send letters from my tablet and those letters are based on standard/precedent letter templates. Pages and Word for iOS have poor support for such things.

I would also like to use digital versions of some of the forms I use and only Word for Windows supports has the features I need.

The Surface was £375 on eBay and that comes with the type cover and pen.

There is some hope for side by side view of the same App mattye since you can do this with Safari. Prob take ages for Apple to sort it for other apps in typical slow Apple fashion.
[doublepost=1465905963][/doublepost]Looks like iCloud Drive is finally becoming more like Dropbox however cannot find anything in depth about the new change. Hopefully this does indeed sync work onto the actual device

I haven't seen anything about it, but is everyone's clock on the lock screen shifted to the left while in landscape? And also, are they serious with that lockscreen music setup?

Guided Access is for that scenario. Just give them Safari, for example.

Problem with Guided Access is its in Accessibility. People looking for a "guest mode" or a "kid friendly mode" aren't going to look there. Also, some people might want guests/kids to have access to more than one app. What's needed is the ability to exclude some apps from use. It doesn't have to be a full fledged separate user account, but just have the ability to set up use parameters for different users (guest, younger kid, teenager, spouse) and be able to jump from one to another with one click.

Ok, well people need to invest in and learn iOS just like any other operating system. And once it's turned on, Guided Access is 3 clicks of the Home button away at any time, in any app.

But there is also the Restrictions menu. My kids have used their iPhone 4s's with the Restrictions set up, safely for two years.

I really think Apple needs to branch away the iPad from the iPhone.

I think that's what limits the iPad in terms of how it looks and how it performs, it's the obvious choice given what has been done with tvOS and watchOS. I enjoy the hell out of my iPad and Apple touts it their vision for future computing... It really needs to be treated as such.

Thats a pretty poor solution for what many want. Guided access is not a good s for a guest mode. Apple said that it wants the iPad Pro to be a direct replacement for many Windows PC users, forgetting how many families share computers which necessitates multiple user accounts.

the assumption being the iPhone and iPad are the exact same devices so the iOS should be identical

that's why iPad sales plummet every year
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. If you're suggesting the iPad should have features that the iPhone doesn't, that wouldn't make much sense at all. Any feature Apple adds to the iPad can easily be added to the phone as well since they both run the same OS, so it wouldn't make any sense for Apple to spend time adding a feature to iOS for the iPad and exclude it from the iPhone.

The only features you'll ever see on an iPad but not a iPhone will specifically be related to the larger screen, like the new iPad multitasking features.
