Never thought Retina iPad mini would be such a big deal (retina or bust)....

Great job brainwashing consumers Apple. Now they will be ready with their wallet to buy new iDevices.

That day won't be too far when people will say...

TouchID for new iDevice or I am not buying it!

Why so negative? If the tech is cool(hi-res screen is needed, using my girlfriends Mini is painful right now. Being able to pay for stuff in the future with Touch ID will be convenient) and people see the value in it what's wrong with wanting it? Brainwashing, really? Some people will complain about anything.

At what point did 'Apple' only make computers? 1980s?

And what other manufacturer ONLY makes computers, or primarily makes computers? There isn't one!

So what's your point?

Simple, advertising dollars and effort is spent according to revenue opportunity. When was the last "mac only" press event at Apple?

2007.

I heard apple may be unveiling a new logo!? wtf? the current logo is perfect:

:apple:

Some would argue computing is more and more personal with iPhones and iPads than desktops ever were.

Actually, I'd say anybody who argues otherwise doesn't have a clue. I don't even look at my PC anymore unless I'm going to be filling out a significant form of some kind and then it's only to speed up typing.

Same. Really want a rMBP but it's hard to justify spending 2k on something I'll use to do some banking, plan a trip once in a while and to make an occasional Craigslist ad  I do everything else on my iPhone and iPad.

Those colours look a lot better.

Speaking of products I'd be happy with just Maverix realeased and Aperture updated without further iOS-like damage done.

OR-- they could spend 2 hours talking about the All New iPod Classic

HAHAHAHAHA.
Might I also suggest they just announce the iNewton too with updated stylus support, or the new ImageWriter?

Too Good. :D

My comment above...I think Apple is still a great computer company and makes the best personal computers in the world, that is why I still use them...

But the FOCUS of the company has drawn away from Personal Computers, what the company built its life-force and definition upon....

The "iToy show" I referenced above is the best way I can describe it, I see this as a fad more than anything that will pass with time...look at GameBoy, NES, Sega, etc....all of these things pass with time and so will iPad and iPhone...

The personal computer is something we will always use and need....it is still with us and there really isn't a replacement (Voice recognition/Holographic Projection?) We still need and use our computers daily....and I don't see them going away.

I just do not like the fact that Apple is riding the waves of the consumer fad-obsessions with micro gadgetry and turning this into their sole focus with their company's branding, advertising, and image....many people do not even know Apple as a computer company anymore but simply"Oh, that iPhone company" -- makes me sick.

"we still have a lot to cover"

i bet thats what these two ladies are thinking when they look at their plan for the decoration.... :D

This was the greatest personal computer company in the world before it turned into an iToy show.

Those 'toys' are outselling computers - average users (i.e people that don't use a computer in a professional capacity) are flocking to tablets instead of buying yet another bulky desktop or laptop.

If Apple didn't get into 'toys' they'd be in position MS currently is in. A dead end product line with no decent products on the horizon.

Can't wait.

Oh, the childish side of me needs to point out Yerba Buena Center = Good Grass Center

How's life at Microsoft? They still treating you well over there?

Oh.

I am not sure if many people on these boards can remember the pre-iPod Apple when Apple *was* a computer company, and it *was* Apple COMPUTER Inc., but it actually wasn't so bad...and there was a lot of Apple pride back then.

Some people do significant amounts of very complicated work on full computers. My mobile devices are throwaways. My full setups are far more "personal."

I think anyone who doesn't understand that people are different, "doesn't have a clue."

The guy is making a reasoned argument and you attempt some ad hominem. That's cool.

Look, we get it. You've been around the block many times and are remembering the good old days fondly. Nothing wrong with that.

The problem is that it is 2013 and the times have changed. Steve is gone, "computer" isn't in the name of the company anymore, and the way we think about technology has shifted significantly. Additionally, there is an all-new audience that loves iDevices just as much as you loved Macs back in the day. Was there a poster who showed up in every thread to tell you how stupid you were for loving Macs because typewriters were the word back in the day?

If you don't care for iDevices, that's fine, but you don't have to piss in everyone's cornflakes and act like we're all a bunch of idiots because you can't reconcile the fact that it isn't the 90's anymore.

Thanks for coming out. Please pull through.

Honestly, the throngs of posters that insist on complaining every time there is an iPhone, iPad, or iOS story are getting very old.

Acting as if we're all stupid for enjoying these devices and technologies is not a "well-reasoned" argument. What kind of response do you expect?

YEAH YOU'RE RIGHT GUY, WE'RE ALL JUST A BUNCH OF LOONS. WE'LL LEAVE THE BOARD NOW SO YOU CAN TALK ABOUT POWER PCS FROM 15 YEARS AGO.

Well put.

Come on man, please. These people are actually being nice to you, don't take that for granted sir.

You are right, computers will never go away, at least for the foreseeable future. However, computers for the average consumer/user has evolved and moved on. No longer are large desktops and laptops necessary for small tasks, such as email, that the average user uses.

Here is what a typical user is looking for today:

Can a tablet/phone email? Yes.
Can a tablet/phone surf the web? Yes.
Can a tablet/phone allow you to bank? Yes.
Can a tablet/phone Skype/IM? Yes.
Can a tablet/phone edit, store, and display pictures? Yes.

This is what people want. This is what people do. And tablets/phones are better at it for those tasks, which is why the "iToy" you speak of is such a priority.
