I am not sure if many people on these boards can remember the pre-iPod Apple when Apple *was* a computer company, and it *was* Apple COMPUTER Inc., but it actually wasn't so bad...and there was a lot of Apple pride back then.

You're not the only one who was around back then. Times change. Get over it and stop living in the past. The average person doesn't need a traditional computer anymore. A tablet does everything they need (i.e. surf web, watch youtube, email, facebook, etc). No, "computers" won't ever go away entirely but we're already at the point where the average household probably doesn't need one anymore.

maybe its just me, but surely the We've got a lot to Cover' is just a reference t the fact its Apple's Fall event, and the leaves from the Apple are falling?

Nothing more...nothing less?

The Mavericks X/Waves and the iOS7/thin were not quite as deep as everyone made out.

Funny reading some of these predictions based on invites...

I totally agree with you. But the term "computer" the way you use it is a little misleading. Tablets and phones, depending on the brand, are very much computers and you can argue are far more capable and versatile than ever. So in that sense, computers are still computers, just in a different form ;)

Please don't forget my 27" 4K thunderbolt display with build in GPU and some USB3 ports.

Best comment ever.

As someone that also existed in the past. I had great fun watching the transitions 8bit ->16 bit -> PCs -> Consoles etc..

They were all computers, and of course the old 8bit machines are far more different than the iPhone5s than an iMac is.

So Apple *was* a computer company, and it *still is* a computer company.
The iPhone and the iPad are both computers.

Now I have to exit mobile safari, and load up keynote for a presentation I'm working on, I need to make some music in garageband as well for the intro, at this rate I'm gonna have no time to play the new Infinity Blade nor do a bit of Lua programming in Codea.

Byyeee..... , see ya next generation.

I think Apple has milked the storage for long enough, it's time to up the sizes for the iPad.

I can easily fill my 64GB iPad with just apps..... forget about movies, music, and photos.

The sizes should be 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB for the next generation. If they plan to unveil the 64bit chip, then give people some space to work with. If it truly is a creation device, and not just a consumption device, then people need more storage.

You have 64gb of apps?

It's like the difference in bright salmon vs. bright hot fuchsia.

One was inspired by a pretty flower and the other a moderately-okay-looking-if-you're-into-that-sort-of-thing fish?

...Still wish the colors were swapped. :(

The October 22 date was first reported by AllThingsD earlier this month, and was quickly confirmed by the The Loop's ever-reliable Jim Dalrymple.
Incorrect

I'll fix up the typos below:

"The October 22 date was first rumoured AllThingsD earlier this month, and was quickly also rumoured (or you can say unofficially confirmed) by the The Loop's ever-reliable Jim Dalrymple. Apple confirmed (or officially confirmed if you said JD unofficially confirmed) this with sending out the event invites."

The parts in brackets are just there as alternate ways to write it.

The article writers still don't get that only Apple can confirm things. If you want to say JD confirms things you have to say unofficially confirmed as people claim he is Apple's unofficial spokesman.

Just fixing up a factual error in the article itself. The rest of the article is good and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for writing it.

The leaves tell me, this is all about the iWatch.

What do leaves do this time of year? They fall.

What do old people do this time of year? They fall.

If you have fallen and you can't get up, you press a button on your iWatch and say, "I have fallen and I can't get up."

As to the lots to cover bit, if you have fallen and you can't get up and they use iMap to get to you and they are too late, because they got lost on the way five times and they stopped for lunch, twice, they will cover you up with a blanket when they arrive.

So approximately when will the new ipads be released based on previous years delay from keynote to release?

Trying to plan Christmas gifts accordingly. Thanks!

That is deep, bro. I fall in my chair after doing a cross-analysis of those thoughts.

maybe they are bringing back the colors..

yes! Me like.

I thought there already was a 128GB ipad?

Or are you one of those irritating people who insist on reminding us that we don't know for sure what's going to happen because all of the information we have is technically just rumors?

Maybe he has a problem with the language used. I too get tired of reading words like "will" and "must" from analysts and tech bloggers. Writing with such certainty about something that is uncertain comes off as arrogant and ill thought out, so I dislike every time I read those things. Words like "likely" and "should" make the author sound more reasonable and considered.

So what you're saying is, he's an insufferable person who can't handle seeing people he doesn't know on sites he doesn't have to read speaking with certainty, and it apparently bothers him so much that he has to give people a hard time about something this trivial, because it's a pet peeve to him.

And it's not just analysts and tech bloggers. The rumors about the new iPads came from credible sources, (and by "rumors" I am also including "actual photographs of parts from a new iPad, being shown at roughly the same time frame as when the 5C leaks came out prior to the official announcement") and are being circulated because it seems like the definitive outcome.

Yes, technically we could all be wrong and this month's keynote could highlight a new iMac instead of a new iPad. Just like technically you shouldn't frequent Apple rumor sites if you can't handle people speaking unhypothetically about new products.

Hoping for rMBP release (announced or silent, I don't care any more)!

I was hoping for this at one point too, but Apple dropped the ball. Haswell is old news, Broadwell is shipping in just a few months time. They didn't need a ******* press conference to release a spec bump. It should've happened in June. End of story.

LOL you're dreaming boy

You can't call this "The iPad Media Event" -- we don't even know iPads are on the menu...gosh.

iPads are usually released in the Spring, not the Fall.

What about the leaked parts and the fact that the iPad 4 was released almost a year ago?

It is the iPad event. ;)

It's the sign of a great design organization when even a throwaway piece of cardboard is so beautifully designed.

Traditionally the following week on friday. In this case that would be Nov 1, however as others have pointed out Nov 1 is a holiday in some countries, so its possible we might see it a day earlier on Halloween.
