£679 in uk
$799 in US

Google '799 usd in gbp'

£527.41 :(

Thanks, Apple!
I really really wish that us UK people would do a bit more research before complaining about price. Same arguments come around every time any new consumer electronics get launched.

1) US prices do NOT include sales tax (VAT on this side of the pond) which adds 20% on straight away so you're up to $960.
2) The cost of doing business in the UK is higher. Exact figures vary of course and no-one seems to agree on a 'typical' figure but it does add a few quid to the price.
3) Companies do not use today's exchange rate when setting prices. They'll settle on a figure significantly lower to protect themselves from fluctuations in the rate. This sucks for customers but it's a reasonable approach for the company to take, especially with products (or, in the case of devices that update regularly, the range) that have a potentially long life span.

So do the maths again and you get £633.64 on a straight currency exchange or 7.16% increase for the UK. Some of that difference will get swallowed by increased cost of business, more by whatever safeguard Apple did on exchange rate. Realistically we're probably paying maybe 2 to 3% more than the US which is annoying but hardly a ripoff.

Oddly I saw the pencil and keyboard available for pickup but not the iPad - then it seemed to disappear and be online only. In the UK it seems there is some fluctuation in the pickup process. Perhaps they already have not enough stock to offer this. Shame, because I could have got the pencil and case at least rather than wait the week or so extra.
First world problems.

Waste of money! Your basically paying double the price of an iPad Air 2 for a larger screen and a pencil! Haha! Im a massive fan of Apple and buy everything they release but this is a joke. Sticking with my iPad Air 2. Would've been different if it ran desktop OS like surface pro runs desktop OS.
You are not an artist. Of course it's not for you. Btw, Air 2 can't even hold the candle to this 4GB of RAM and A10 quad core chip.

I'm sorry, but the pricing is ridiculous.

The 128GB iPad Air 2 is £559.
The 128GB iPad Pro is £799.

That's £240 ($364) more!

Compare to the MacBook Air:

The 128GB 11" starts at £749 and the 128GB 13" at £849. Just £100 difference.

The iPad Pro should have been £699. It's very overpriced, sadly.

It's this kind of penny pinching that is causing all new Apple products to flop. It's why we have no Apple Watch sales figures, terrible Apple Music figures and plummeting iPad sales figures.

Love the iPad Pro, but this is madness.

Sorry didn't know we were participating in some form of grammar forum - oh and if you're going to take a dig at somebody else's grammar take a look at you're own first - "at least make sure your using"..
LOL - It's like the first law of internet forums - if you try and correct someone's grammar you'll make a mistake in your own post ;)

(plus, it's against the rules on MacRumors)

Anyone know of a pouch from third party that would fit the Pro for the time being? Not sure I want the Apple silicone case and smart cover, they are expensive, and I wonder about the cover eventually wearing the finish as the magnets snap on and off?

I suppose something like a 13inch notebook sleeve would hold it more or less for the time being?

Apple is now accepting orders for the iPad Pro, both through its online storefront and through the Apple Store app. The first iPad Pro online orders will arrive on Friday, November 13 when one-day shipping is selected, and Apple's site is also listing the tablet as available for purchase in many retail stores beginning today.

The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard will not be arriving until late next week and are not available for in-store pickup at the current time.

Logitech's CREATE Backlit Keyboard Case for the iPad Pro is available in stores beginning today, however, for $149.95. Apple is advertising the keyboard right alongside the Apple Pencil and its own Smart Keyboard. Logitech's keyboard was designed with input from Apple and it is the first third-party product to use the device's Smart Connector port.

The iPad Pro is Apple's new flagship tablet, measuring in at 12.9 inches diagonally. It includes a Retina display, a four speaker audio system, 4GB RAM, and a set of dedicated accessories, the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard.

Apple's iPad Pro is priced at $799 for the entry-level 32GB Wi-Fi only model, $949 for the 128GB Wi-Fi only model, and $1,079 for the 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The iPad Pro is available for purchase in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray.

The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard are being sold alongside the iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil is priced at $99, while the Smart Keyboard is priced at $169.

The iPad Pro is available in a long list of countries at launch, including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greenland, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, UAE, U.S., U.K., Uruguay, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Your comparison to the MacBook Air makes no sense. The difference between the base 11" and 13" models is only a hundred because internally they are identical. Same CPU, RAM, storage, etc. You're only paying for a larger display. The iPad Pro has a much faster CPU and twice the RAM of the Air 2, to go with its larger display that is also more advanced to cater for the Pencil. I'd say that's more in line with comparing a base 11" Air to a 128GB 13" with the BTO RAM and CPU upgrades.

Examples? Compare $ vs € 2-3-4 years ago. Compare the prices. You don't need any example, coz there is only one + logic.
um, you made the claim, I asked for proof. I'm not doing your research for you. You'll need a standardised Apple device for say 3 years, along with the 3 years of the US and UK prices, and the exchange rates, along with the applicable tax regimes applying at the times.
And do the math too.

Um, they're coming 5 days after the iPads. That's hardly "without pencils", and it's hardly unprecedented.
Hey. I don't care if it's five minutes. It's sloppy. And no, it's not unprecedented -it's the kind of gaff Jobs would have thrown a tantrum and fired someone over.

We're not allowed to have a product launch without a nit to pick. This one's gift-wrapped.

Oh i'm in tears (with laughter) Only $165 for the Apple Pencil in Australia!
$1699 for the 128GB Cell version.

What a joke.

I was in an Apple Store today and I asked a young Geni Girl what she thought of the price fo the Pro in Australia, she said it was very good value for what it does, I thought she was joking, but no she wasn't she said it again. I pointed to the IWatch table and said it would be as popular as the watch. The store was crowded but nobody at the watch table, I told her I had never seen anyone at the table, she didn't know what to say.

I think I'll be sticking with my iPad Mini 4, the price of which still brings a tear to my eye every now and then, $700.

I ordered this one. Dimensions seem right.

Pricing aside, this is the first Apple device that does not have the "I must have it" factor, I might be getting old, or simply i cannot draw so this one is not for me, but I simply cannot find any reson to "want" it.

It's not a bad product, may be overpriced (pencil should at least been included), seems tough as a Apple just wanted to surf the Surface wave but cannot fully "get it".

Perhaps, but because the iPad Pro has a larger screen, it needs more power to drive those pixels.

I suspect that in real-world use, there will be very little difference in performance. The iPad Air 2 is no slouch.

So in the end, you're paying way over the odds for an extra three inches.
