I actually don't think they'll sell out in most stores or for on-line ordering. And if they do, I think there'll be more stock within a week of people being turned away. Again, this is not a really hot item like a major iPhone upgrade. It's a small market for an upscale buyer and will be a small minority of the tablet market. But Apple put a lot of hype into the announcement, and I don't think they want to run out right away. In fact, I think the rumored delay is to make sure they do have enough stock on hand for the release.

Also i hear with every single dam apple rumor about short supplies. Like honestly with every product they announce, someone somewhere has got to make that late breaking report that there in short supplies and its difficult to secure the parts. no matter what it is!
You would think one of two things would happen by now...Apple would make enough to go around, or they would stop the same old rumor over and over again..
 
I ended up caving and buying the iPad Air 2 in the same config. Bonus is I get a free upgrade in 12 months when the next 9.7" upgrade will be available.

I didn't want to take any chances. I just pre ordered mine at MacMall. 128, wifi + Cell, gold, with a keyboard. They said it will ship on the 15th, and I paid $14 extra for priority shipping.

If I can get it sooner from Apple, I will, and then cancel this order. But at least I know I have one coming.

Edit: It looks like on my credit card charge, I paid $40 for priority shipping, not $14. The guy on the phone had a heavy accent.

To erveryone who wants to pre order the iPad Pro :
I live in the Netherlands and they also allow pre orders... But just one week ago they told me thwy would ship it on november the 13th... And now they told me they wouldngonshipping on november the 21th... That's because they did not have the permission from apple to sell these devices earlier than apple...
So be carefull with pre ordering one now... You might not get it on launch day... ;)

Supply chains are very complicated, especially when using just-in-time supply, which is needed to minimize storage costs. And then even more so when you're building stuff in China. It's a minor miracle that Apple can produce high-quality gadgets in China at all. So delays are unavoidable.

As for rumors, the only way to prevent rumors is to make official announcements, and Apple either wants to keep up the suspense, or else does not actually know when it will be able to have stock in stores for sale.

Until Apple sets a release date, no retailer can honestly promise you a shipping date. And I guarantee you that Apple will not tell a retailer the release date before it itself makes the public announcement. Getting your order in at MacMall may well get you an iPad Pro in a timely manner if there's a shortage and if your order got in early enough so you are high on their list. But when they gave you a November 15 shipping date, they're just banking on a November 13, 14, or 15 release date. They don't know yet if they'll be able to keep that promise.

I looked at their web site. There it just says that the Pro ships "mid-November." When you pre-order a book on Amazon, they don't charge your card until they ship the book. The fact that MacMall already charged your card might make it hard for you to cancel the order. This is a sleazy (though not illegal) business practice. I would not deal with them. Neither Amazon nor Verizon have pre-ordering for the Pro yet. I would not buy from MacMall. They're making promises they don't know if they can keep, charging you before they even have stock, and apparently using overseas phone operators.

Better to have patience.
 
Yup this is going to be another apple tv. Apple store will have them a few days earlier and then resellers will post a few days later.

With the apple TV, apple store had stock friday. These above resellers posted theirs out Tuesday.
 
Next week we'll know more... Probably not a release date or anything from Apple, but we'll know if the 8th, 11th, or 13th dates were wrong or not. ;) lol
I am actually getting a little annoyed with Apple's bull crap. The iPads always seem to get an odd "coming soon" or "shipping soon" or just "October/November" vague type release compared to other Apple Products... and it's pretty lame. If they have supply shortages the they should not showcase the product until they are a couple weeks out from a launch. *yes first world problems, but irritating nonetheless.
 
Online order and in store pick up on November 11. No preorders. Very similar to 2013 iPad Mini with Retina display release. Press release morning of release.
 
I just got back from the Apple Store and they told me it will be released in days.
 
So the 25th from staples etc is wrong. I was pretty sure that they release soon since eddy cue that just a few days. If they had to delay it, he would have known that and he wouldnt have said anything about the release date.

This is undoubtedly true. It will be released in days. Maybe 2 days. Maybe 4 days. Maybe 7 days. Maybe 16 days. Even if they miss November entirely, it will come out in days. A year from now is still just "days," 365 of them. Heck, the Earth will be burned up by the sun when it goes nova in just a matter of days. Something on the order of 1.8 trillion of them, according to astronomers. So, yep, definitely the Pro will be released in days.

Of course, Apple has been straight with us, so far. All they've said is it will be this month. We're all getting our panties in a knot over rumors, most of them unfounded, and our own impatience. I'm hoping it's two days rather than five or fifteen.

I'd be very surprised, though, if they held off the announcement until the morning of the day it's in the stores.

Definitely most of us are impatient. I'm more impatient than not. I think the frustration is increased more due to the silence from Apple. And all the crazy rumors going around about supply issues and delays and such... Which is what happens when a bunch of crazy people like us start going a little stir crazy. lol

Yeah, I'm thinking announcement next week also. And if we keep saying that, eventually we'll be right.

Apple has only ordered 2.5 million units for the last quarter of this year, which is to say December and the remainder of November. But I don't think they want to short-supply the market. I think that's the number they think will sell, based on whatever market research they've done, probably pretty carefully.

They were leading me to believe days was the next few days and I asked if they had them now they just shrugged like maybe.

Yes agree. I believe the same iPad mini releaesed on a Wednesday.

Thank God I have the day off lol.

Also 9to5mac says 11th from a couple of reliable sources not 1 source
