If it was a PRO model you wouldn't need another darn dongle!
Moar $59 adapters that cost $2 to make.
Winning magic.

Right. USB-C is doable for current iPhone 6/6S form factor but may prove to be a bit thick for iPhone 7 or iPod touch to accommodate comfortably.I think USB C is too thick vs. lightning - with Apple's obsession with thinness and all!
Soon they're going to sell a USB3 lightning cable for 60 bucks. I can't believe they didn't include one...
It's wrong of me, I know, but I really wish the MacRumors filters were set to reject any comment with the phrase "file system"And iOS doesn't even have an accessible file system, what a waste.
iFixit discovered a Fresco Logic FL1100 4-port USB 3.0 Host Controller
I miss the FireWire from the first one. It really was lightning fast. They changed to accommodate Windows users which only had USB in most cases. It really is super slow and 7 years later it's not much faster.
proxy.phpWell, TB3 will be delivered exclusively over USB-C, so (not if) but when that latest little port comes to the iPhone, TB3 is a possibility.
This is infuriating. Why not just get rid of the stupid lightning port and move across to usb-c?!
Just put an OS X on it, finally.
I don't know what this news means for expanding connectivity options, but it certainly can't be a bad thing. It's happening!
How about thunderbolt 3.This is infuriating. Why not just get rid of the stupid lightning port and move across to usb-c?!

USB 2.0 can read/write at about 40MB/s sustained (60 MB/s theoretical). USB 3.0 can go >150 MB/s sustained (640 MB/s theoretical). The sustained speeds are dependent on what you are reading/writing to.
I'm really not sure what numbers you are coming with... both of your numbers are low, especially for USB 3.0.

Well, that confirms it then.
......That is.....with a powerful CPU, screaming GPU, 4GB ram and high speed data transfer capabilities, future iOS updates and full 'pro' level apps in development to both take advantage of the powerful hardware, the iPad Pro is poised to turn some heads.
I agree, but then again, if they can sell a gazillion of them instead, I don't blame them.
Only if no one questions the name by asking what's "Pro" about it. Once that happens, they have opened the gates to all sorts to screen real estate use cases. Here we go again. Can we try this thread without the phrases 'screen real estate', or 'use case'?
It really doesn't have anything to do with whether a "file system" is desirable or not on an iOS device, but rather is the manifestation of my own ennui.Good idea, now you're thinking like a true Apple exec. Ignore what the majority want![]()
I can't wait.. another adapter to add to my list.
The cpu in the pro 3 is over 2.5 years old, I hope it can outperform it. However geekbench is flawed, including sha1 results in a cpu benchmark may help in arm vs arm comparisons, but it is not impactful for 99% of cpu tasks.Besides CPU power, the screen size, the amazing Stylus that already beat a three gen Surface Pro, . . .
