Here’s what would be really really good news to me:
- iPhone Pro name replaces the high-end XS/XSMax.
- iPhone is the new XR.
- We get an iPhone Air, i.e. a tiny light phone with great battery life and just the basics, the size of the sadly defunct SE or the iPods.

Apart from my previous post saying that Pro stands for Profit, does this mean that the Apple Pencil will come to the iPhone?

Makes no sense for a phone that's the 3rd iteration of the X.

Sorry but Phil Schiller and his Marketing/branding team lost it

based on how the 3rd and 4th iterations of the iPhone 6 were 7 and 8 at least there’s some precedence for it. Or they could go the OS X route and keep the X brand and add the names of trees after to keep with natural themes.

I await the iPhone X Sequoia!

I would take iPhone and iPhone Pro if that meant they got off the stupid numbering scheme. Also it would more closely mirror the iPad which is good.

I would second this if the Pro models I’m adopted a iPad Pro like design and return to the iPhone 4/5 form factor if they aren’t going to give us an SE anytime soon. Bonus points if Face ID works in any orientation as well like the iPad Pros.

If youre a instagram influencer its possible do all needed for the PROfession on the phone so ^^

Pro monicker is just an excuse to further jack up the price. If it is any higher than $999, it is bound to fail spectacularly.

Like the better video and smart hdr and better color rendition on the iPhone is a one-off.:p

Better video in what category, smartphones? Yep, RED cameras are really shaking that iPhone camera tech is going to replace them with better video and smart HDR and better colour rendition.

I can see it now Hollywood giving RED and the rest the middle finger and purchasing iPhones and the new rumoured Pro to make multi-million dollar movies. DSLR camera makers might as well throw in the towel, Apple’s got this. :p

Everytime I see an Apple product with pro behind it I laugh and replace it with unaffordable. Like the bay areas housing market should be called housing pro

Should be called “Pro”-sumer, most would not even label the MacBook line Pro. The MacPro has finally deserved the moniker.

I am looking for the iPhone “Poor” 5” or below model. :p

iPhone S/M/L simplify as Apple is a fashion company who happens to make computers from time-to-time. :p

Alternatively, if I want a serious phone, buy me because I have the "pro" moniker. Either way, imo, I don't think most consumers will pick apart the name as what happens on these forums.
The reviewers will, though. Like them or not, respect them or nor, if someone ready to spend a grand goes to search on line to do research on what phone to buy, and everyone is asking, “WTF makes this phone Pro?”, it is not good. Especially if they point to a Note with a built in stylus, which could be considered a ‘Pro’ feature.

So....you haven’t actually used Dex? Then why are you commenting on how useful it is?

BTW, that’s the mobile version of Excel for Android. There is no “full version” of Office for Android or iOS.
In case of iPad, the main problem with productivity tools (like Office) is the touch interface and not the version of the app. Small screen size and limited multitasking contribute too.

I just wanted to say...

Ha....Hahahahahaaah....bwahahahahahahh....ahhaahahhahhahahahah. Ha. Ha ha. [Gasp]

Apple, if you are listening.... Dont do it. Just dont. I wont buy an iphone either way, but still...just dont do it.

Nothing about iOS is "pro".

It depends....if people are like me I read the reviews and then go ahead and ignore them because I find I have to justify my own use cases. But I like hearing what people have to say.

Finally, some logic to apple's devices naming, and still people criticises!

iPad
iPad mini
iPad Air
iPad Pro

iMac
Mac mini
Mac Pro

MacBook Air
MacBook Pro

iPhone
iPhone Pro

And now...introducing the iPhone mini! Basically an iPod nano with cellular and SIM, and iOS. I think I’d really like that.

Well that’s quite a ridiculous comparison. Who is saying smartphone camera have the same quality as $50k purpose built cameras?

However you’re willing to use a one trick pony feature as the epitome of technical excellence and ignore another. Sorry seems like a bunch of bias at play.:p

I’m confused. There are 2 sizes with the triple lens. Sooo iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max?

And iPhone XR Pro?

Idk.

I’ve been thinking that they should get rid of the numbers altogether. Just as they have with the tablets and laptops. The base iPhone (formally XR) would be the New iPhone. And the other two would be iPhone Pro but with different screen sizes. This would be just like the 13”/15” Pro laptop and 11”/12.9” iPad Pro.

They are moving towards more emphasis on services and peripheral accessories (wearables) and less on the “revolutionary” annual upgrades. It would make sense to drop the rising number every year (iPhone 23, anyone?).

I think Pro will be for both the XS size and XS Max size, and there won't be a naming difference between the two, as there's no feature difference either. You'll just select a size like you do with the iPads, Macbooks etc. But the Pro naming differentiates the phones from the XR, which might as well just be called iPhone (2019?)

Yes! I’ve been thinking this for months.
