Makes no sense for a phone that's the 3rd iteration of the X.
Sorry but Phil Schiller and his Marketing/branding team lost it
I would take iPhone and iPhone Pro if that meant they got off the stupid numbering scheme. Also it would more closely mirror the iPad which is good.
Like the better video and smart hdr and better color rendition on the iPhone is a one-off.![]()
Everytime I see an Apple product with pro behind it I laugh and replace it with unaffordable. Like the bay areas housing market should be called housing pro
Here’s what would be really really good news to me:
- iPhone Pro name replaces the high-end XS/XSMax.
- iPhone is the new XR.
- We get an iPhone Air, i.e. a tiny light phone with great battery life and just the basics, the size of the sadly defunct SE or the iPods.
The reviewers will, though. Like them or not, respect them or nor, if someone ready to spend a grand goes to search on line to do research on what phone to buy, and everyone is asking, “WTF makes this phone Pro?”, it is not good. Especially if they point to a Note with a built in stylus, which could be considered a ‘Pro’ feature.Alternatively, if I want a serious phone, buy me because I have the "pro" moniker. Either way, imo, I don't think most consumers will pick apart the name as what happens on these forums.
In case of iPad, the main problem with productivity tools (like Office) is the touch interface and not the version of the app. Small screen size and limited multitasking contribute too.So....you haven’t actually used Dex? Then why are you commenting on how useful it is?
BTW, that’s the mobile version of Excel for Android. There is no “full version” of Office for Android or iOS.
It depends....if people are like me I read the reviews and then go ahead and ignore them because I find I have to justify my own use cases. But I like hearing what people have to say.The reviewers will, though. Finally, some logic to apple's devices naming, and still people criticises!

Well that’s quite a ridiculous comparison. Who is saying smartphone camera have the same quality as $50k purpose built cameras?Better video in what category, smartphones? Yep, RED cameras are really shaking that iPhone camera tech is going to replace them with better video and smart HDR and better colour rendition.
I can see it now Hollywood giving RED and the rest the middle finger and purchasing iPhones and the new rumoured Pro to make multi-million dollar movies. DSLR camera makers might as well throw in the towel, Apple’s got this....
Apple Watch Bands Pro.Next we need an Apple Watch Pro
Apple Credit Card ProApple Watch Bands Pro.
Pro can stand for things other than "Professional".Pro for a phone? 'Pro' has lost all meaning
I’m confused. There are 2 sizes with the triple lens. Sooo iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max?
And iPhone XR Pro?
Idk.
I think Pro will be for both the XS size and XS Max size, and there won't be a naming difference between the two, as there's no feature difference either. You'll just select a size like you do with the iPads, Macbooks etc. But the Pro naming differentiates the phones from the XR, which might as well just be called iPhone (2019?)
