Since the iPad Pro came with Apple Pencil support, I would like to see the iPhone Pro finally support the Apple Pencil.

Devil’s advocate here.... but, if an almost 7” iPhone was equipped w/ usb-c, pencil support, keyboard support, & mouse support- it’d sound fairly “Pro”* to me.

*In this case, my definition of a Pro phone is: one where about 75% of the work people get paid to do using a laptop, could be performed comfortably on a phone instead

I don’t agree with the pro monicker in general, let alone the unnecessary increase in price in most of the cases, however just to be a devil’s advocate...

Imagine professional photographers that want to replace the sony rx camera they always carry in their back pocket...

I know, I am just being asinine but still, there you go, an actual pro case scenario. Better that than the dreadful ‘RED camera phone’...!

You can actually NEED more than the current RAM available for your current daily workflow?
I am not a power user when it comes to phones, I prefer my iPad for my ‘serious’ daily needs, but unless you are editing long 4K videos, using some serious photo editing tools or just ‘keep all apps open until you reboot your phone’ once per 2 weeks (I know iOS does a fine job at that as it is, but still...) I cannot think of a plausible scenario where you would need more RAM than the current gen...

I'm still on the iPhone 6S+ and have not seen any reason to update my phone except for a better screen and more RAM. I have noticed several instances a week that the App isn't enough. I wouldn't say I am a power user, but I have lost money because apps that I use get reset if I try to multitask. If my current phone had 4GB of RAM, I wouldn't need to upgrade it for another couple of years.

This article is talking about Apple using the "Pro" moniker for it's phones and so yes, a Pro phone that would be marketed towards "power users" should have more RAM so "Pros" can do more professional work like editing long 4K videos or for seriously demanding workflows.

The only reason Apple doesn't offer more RAM is because of profits and planned obsolescence.

Bonus tip: There is no need to reboot your phone to clear the ram, you can just hold the power button down until you see "slide to power off" and rather than sliding the button, just hold down the home button and your phones RAM will get cleared.

Apple please stop making the phones bigger. I don't want it bigger. I cannot go back to the 4S but having features locked into size....

Also if it is bigger and a Pro it might be Apple chasing after the Note. Apple - be original. You don't have to chase everything Samsung does.

It’s not about Samsung it’s about the market and the market wants bigger phones

Im so ready...i want 1500$ iphone PROmotion, 6k XDR display with 2000 ppi (in your face Samsung), 16 gb Ram, 512 SSD, faceID, touchID, cokID, hairID , 8 cores with support for final cut
YEah baby , IM READY

I envisaged the move to use a "PRO" moniker for iPhone and more to differentiate models back in *August 2016, a little ahead of the roadmap but... not looking too far off this tbh! ;)

You're welcome.

Aside from

On screen widgets
Spilt screen

There is nothing on the samsung that you will not have on the max...apple have caught up in most features so really not only does the iPhone have the ecosystem with support and updates feature wise there is no longer a gap. So to say iPhones don’t do half as much is completely false.

As for notifications? Notifications are far better on the iPhone. On android they are trash to me and a big reason for me moving back to the iPhone. Never mind the fact you get notifications all at once when you unlock the Samsung while on the iPhone it can be locked for hours and still get notifications...paying a grand for a phone that doesn’t give you notifications on time? Cmon.

Pen that's a part of the phone?
Messaging app where you can actually schedule a message to be sent out at a specific time at a specific date.
I used that all the time when I had my Samsung because of work related texts.
Multitasking is at least 10x easier on the Samsung.
Back button that always works the same way (would be nice if swiping from the left of the screen on the iPhone always went backwards but it's very app dependent even in the iPhone apps).
Menu button that always bring up the sub-menus.
Notifications that work much better and make your life, as a pro, much easier.
Notifications on the iPhone are simply ridiculous.
LED for notifications as well. Would be nice to have that blinking light when you have a notification waiting.
But Samsung takes it further and you can customize how many times the light will blink or have it not blink at all.
Plus different color LED for different apps.
Easy way to genuinely turn off and on the WIFI (not just delay it for a day) instead of having to go to settings. It's all up there in the notification center.
The list goes on and on as to why the Samsung Note is much closer to be a "pro" phone than the iphone is.

And yet you still switched from the Note 9 to the iPhone? Hmmmm.

Yes, because I'm tired of Google hearing all my conversations, scanning my emails and texts and knowing every keyboard stroke I make.

That's why.

Has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

There are reasons to upgrade beyond a better display and more RAM, including better cameras and faster processors. I was on a 6 Plus until I got my iPhone X a couple of years ago, and those improvements were worth it to me. iPhones are so good these days that upgrading every year or even every other year is less compelling than it used to be. I'll probably sit out another cycle and see what Apple offers in 2020. I don't much care what they call it — it's the features (and price) that matter to me.

As much as i like hugging my phone, i wouldn't be able to do that to this one.

The name is good...

You are correct, the reasons vary for each person. But if Apple wants to use "Pro" to market their phone, then they should make it a Pro-Phone that can do real multitasking, use an industry standard port and give pros (or prosumers) more value for their money. Otherwise, it's just more marketing gimmicks that Apple is really good at.

It’s so silly to give a phone a “pro” tag, haha. As this tag always stood for professional high tech used in a certain discipline. “Mac Pro” is very suitable for, let’s say, video editors or 3D animators. Who the heck is a professional cellphone user? Like: hello, I’m a photographer and my pro gear is an iPhone...

Wow.... lots of whiners in this thread. It's just a name... it's not confusing like some of you are saying.... it's simple. get the phone you want and don't worry about what it's named. You'll be ok.....
[doublepost=1565575348][/doublepost]
It’s only naming people, calm down. It’s very possible the now XR will be called iPhone 11 (since it’s the best seller) and the 5.8 and 6.5 OLED models will be called iPhone 11 Pro.
wow someone gets it.
