Exactly my thought.

It’s gonna be iPhone 11 starting at 599, and the two iPhone 11 Pro devices starting at 799 and 899.

Non-Pro: 32GB base, 128GB for 100 extra, has low end camera module, LCD, no pencil support, no Face ID, has in display Touch ID.

Pro: 64GB base, 256GB for 100 extra, and 512GB for 250 extra on base.
Doubt it. It'll be iPhone 11 starting at $749 & two iPhone Pro devices starting at $999 and $1,099

Their is nothing ‘Pro’ about an iPhone!!! It’s nothing more then a marketing stunt by Apples marketing department to attempt to blind the buying public into justifying the iPhones ludicrously high prices..

You’re right this will be a marketing tactic it is just a way of trying to shift inventory of this years mediocre updates.

It works adding Pro to iPad so can't blame them for pulling the same marketing scheme with iPhone. Even the more professional Galaxy Note is just semi-pro since it doesn't support Windows 10 on ARM to complement Linux DeX.

I still think that after 12 generations of iPhone, Apple needs to take a huge step into the future and call the next release the SiriPhone with a significant overhaul to the most important virtual assistant of the 2020s. Siri is going to be running our lives whether we like it or not and she needs to be able to do that.

Should have been Pro to begin with. Max hasn't grown on me one bit. But I do think the Pro moniker will make more sense if Apple Pencil support and USB-C are features.

Apple is widely expected to release three new iPhones in the fall, and an anonymous Twitter account with a proven track record has suggested that at least one of the models will have "Pro" in its name, such as "iPhone 11 Pro."

The tweet comes from a mystery account named CoinX, which has accurately leaked several details about upcoming Apple products over the past year, including the names of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR before anyone else, the removal of the headphone jack on 2018 iPad Pro models, and much more.

CoinX's accurate leak about the 2018 iPhone names:

In this case, CoinX phrases the tweet as a rhetorical question, but the account has a perfect track record so far with all of its leaks:

For what it's worth, MacRumors received the following anonymous tip on August 4: "The square camera iPhone will be called the iPhone 11 Pro. This is fact." It would be a disservice to our readers to simply pass along any unsubstantiated tip we receive, but it is now worth mentioning in light of this tweet.

This could mean the 2019 lineup will include the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, and perhaps the iPhone 11R, but we still don't know for sure.

Apple is widely expected to unveil three new iPhones next month, including two higher-end 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED models and one lower-end 6.1-inch LCD model. Rumored features include triple-lens rear cameras on the higher-end models, larger batteries, two-way charging of AirPods, and much more.

I don’t buy the whole ‘Pro’ moniker. To me, there’s nothing ‘Pro’ about a smart phone. Every year this seems to come up as a rumor where the title Pro will be introduced, and I don’t see a smart phone being anything Pro in what it offers. A Smart phone to me is nothing more than a Multi-tool and will always be primarily a communication device, and it has separate functionality away from something like the Mac/iPad.

[But Then again, Apple did surprise me when they used the ‘Max’ title last year, which I didn’t expect they would do. So anything is possible.]

The slowing of the iPhone market, IMHO, shows many users find their current phone meets their needs.

Sure, a better camera is nice but my 8 takes quite acceptable ones under good conditions to print 8x10s. The iPhone is a great replacement for a pocket digital camera. However, if For serious work I take my dSLR with really good glass.
Pencil? I use it on my iPad Pro and it works great for note taking and annotations. On a phone? I am not sure it would that useful. The smaller screen would make annotation difficult. Note taking would be possible I guess. A really issue would be attaching the pencil. People carry phones in their pocket, which means the pencil would likely fall off often. An iPocketProtector perhaps? Only $100 plus $30 AppleCare.

Personally, my iPhone already does what I need guide well; namely get emails, track billable hours and expenses, make calls and take pictures on the spur of the moment. Other than email in reality my old Palm Pilot and Treos (for calls) did that just fine. The camera is a useful addition as well as tea the ring and music/video but for me it’s a question of good enough doesn’t warrant marginally better at a high cost. YMMV. Apple is fighting to steal market share rather than benefiting from a growing market.

Until significant jumps in capability, such as 5G (with real broadband speeds) at reasonable rates, and a screen capable of showing real high quality video and providers that won’t downgrade quality when they send it, it’s hard to justify frequent replacements. It was as we went from Edge to 3G to LTE and saw real improvements in speed, but no it’s just marginal improvements at high prices. I think the Apple Watch has more potential to see model to model improvements than phones; as expected in a new vs. mature market.

Watch this thing have like 32 GB RAM, 12 core processor, 4 terabyte SSD, but look exactly the same as the XS aside from coming in a new color (red) lol.

Seriously Apple, I feel like they're trying to make different tiers of products. Like there's the normal lineup then a very expensive version.

iMac Pro, iPad Pro, Mac Pro, gold edition Apple Watch which didn't work out, then maybe the 16" MacBook Pro will be the Pro model, now maybe an iPhone Pro that might cost 2000 bucks who knows.

Apple is preparing ultra high end complements to the Mac Pro that include a Pro sku for the Macbook that will approach 10K and now a Pro phone and soon watch. This is the only way they can further increase insane profit margins. Apple will never stop trying to grow margins not just revenue.
