I really want to buy iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB but the "Scratch Gate" really scare me. Super Easy get scratch on iPhone 11 Series screens reports all over the places. What can I do?

What I think would be great is if we can stop using this "gate" nonsense.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max has been in and out of my pocket, with keys, I have no screen protector and have not used one since the 3GS.

You're not listening to anything anyone is saying here so go buy a different phone and move on already.

Gate-nonsense is what people on here do.

They don't take care of their devices, they fabricate some conspiracy, then they think of a short word with gate to apply.

Think of it like "gate-gate"

Jerryrigeverything makes yearly videos on screen durability. Nothing has changed this year. Same scratch resistance. Scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7
This so much... I have an XS Max with a screen that doesn't have an unscratched spot. Of course that's due to me exposing it to extremely unusual conditions. It didn't fare any better or worse than my iPhone 7 Plus before it. If you don't want it to be scratched then protect it with something.

Look up some drop tests for the iPhone 11. They don't break when dropped.

Videos off YouTube doesn’t indicate everybody else’s experience when they drop their phone. Angle, Impact and surface type determine if the phone survives or not. It doesn’t take much for a phone to shatter/break when you drop it without some type of protective case, they’re _all_ fragile because of their glass construction.

Saw a youtuber pointed out his scratch could be due to the way he stacked his iPhones together, with the camera lens of the top phone scratching the screen of the bottom one. Would be interesting if all the posts about scratches have people thinking about the possible cause, instead of simply complaining.

So after buying iphones in straight 10 years i was suprised to see some mirco/hair scratches for the first time. i googled it and yes i'm not alone. So yes it is a thing and need to be solved.

In conclusion, this iPhone is as sturdy as any previous iPhone. Every year people compare about glass scratching. Those people should go yell at Sir Isaac Newton.

The battery-gate thread is fascinating though... :)

Yeah but those scratches are on the exact same place on all three/four models. It's like he got them stacked on top of each other and cameras scratched those displays?

He says he is also using the Samsung Note 10+ for much longer and not a scratch on the display.

This is also my experience when looking at brand new demo models who were less than 3 weeks old. Every single one of them looks worse than my 2 year old iPhone X.

So this cannot all be a coincidence.

This is some weird stuff going on, im so happy that i put a screen protector on, but without a case.

Just had an appointment today at the genius bar in Düsseldorf, Germany. Management says the deep scratch (visible with screen on) on my 3 week old iPhone 11 Pro Max is the result of improper use.
They added that all the displays have the same quality and there are no bad units.
The funny part of my appointment: They suggested I could buy a screen-protector- haha! I‘m quite shocked that a screen on a 1250,00€ (!) phone that scratches deeply right after a few weeks is considered to be „normal“ behaviour of the material...
It’s not my first iPhone, treated them all with the same care. In all these years I never had a single scratch you feel with your nails...
(I‘m not talking about light scratches)
Very strange....
Conclusion for me: bad luck. Life goes on! But recommending an iPhone 11: never!

You should take better care of your devices. Plain and simple. There definitely is a pattern: people don’t take care of their phones, they get scratches. No coincidence.

Why is this surprising? Germany makes the best cars in the world but they still scratch. People are so shocked that their phone scratches when you don’t take care of it.
Hate to be that person, but it’s hard not to notice that newbies are overwhelmingly posting this problem. That’s usually not a good sign for an issue’s legitimacy.

I’ve never used a screen protector on an iPhone and, since the 6, I’ve only ever used the leather case.
looking at my old 6, under direct sunlight at the exact angle, I can see a couple micro scratches.
My Xs Max had a couple micro scratches when I turned it in to upgrade to the Pro Max. Again, if I looked at in the exact sunlit condition in order to see it.
I’m sure if I look at my Pro Max super-duper hard, under direct sunlight, at the perfect angle, there may be one there already. If there is, and I happen to see it, I assume it’s the coating. Whatever.

I’m also an adult who knows because I don’t use a screen protector that this may happen, so I just enjoy my phone and I don’t worry about it.

Zollotech also reported this. He doesn’t normally use a screen protector on his iPhones, but installed one on the 11. He’s very serious and professional about his reviews.

I’m not fan of the “gate” stuff but seems that somehow it can get scratched more easily.

I’ve always used a screen protector so...
