Quick question to everyone that is missing notifications. Do you all have Apple Watches?
Yes.
Not getting any audible tones on my phone when it is locked - any way of disabling Do Not Disturb, that appears to be my issue. I can soilence or turn on Do Not Disturb but not disable it when my phone is locked.

I would like to know this as well, it is quite annoying having the fo not disturb switched off, but when you alter the volume button, it comes up with a cross through the bell icon, evrn if do not disturb is off.

My 12 Pro is on 14.2.1 and I’m missing notifications from my wife sometimes which are being sent with iMessage. This has happened several times when phone was locked. She will wonder why I didn’t reply and then I check the message app and there’s an unread message there. No notification sound on phone or watch, no app icon badge, DND is off, and nothing was showing as unread on Lock Screen.

Very annoying...

This is still not fixed!! UGH...

It seemed to work for couple days after the update, now back in the same boat. Not getting all the texts in a group SMS.

It’s crazy. Today I got SMS messages from a couple of different android phone users.

I don’t receive SMS messages from my next-door neighbor. It’s so strange, when I sent her a Thanksgiving text message today and then check her entry in the contact card, it has a recent banner next to her home phone rather than the mobile phone even though she gets the messages on the mobile.

Few days ago I sent a text message by typing a name in. It turned green meaning SMS but then I got an automated reply saying “you’re trying to send to a landline”. When sending a message, why would Apple pick the home number rather than the mobile number? The contact card has both.

I've had this issue since my 11, but it's starting to get ridiculous. Today I was on a group text with my coworkers (one of which has an android) and it was just the owner of our company wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, but I never received a single one. I only know about it because of a coworker telling me. I now look rude for not replying, but in reality I just didn't receive the messages. Today it was a Thanksgiving text, but what happens when it's about an assignment or something serious??? Apple needs to find a fix soon because this is a big deal!

Aaaaaaaaannnd they’re still not even acknowledging it! It’s been 3 weeks now.

To fix the lack of an alert ( sound) for a particular contact select in messages the dodgy contact. then slect the info icon and set 'Hide Alerts' OFF
Worked for my wife and her sister iOS 14.2

Sooooo not sure if it’s coincidence or if notifications are having a better day, but I decided not to wear my Apple Watch today. It’s not unpaired but just sitting on the charger. So far things have been better and I’ve been getting every notification with the exception of one message about 4 hours ago.

Not sure how leaving my watch off my worst we like help though.

Found this page because this has been happening to me for at least several days. It was not happening on my iPhone 11 Pro max. I thought I was going crazy. I’m receiving all texts that I know of, BUT I don’t get a motivation for many of them. Not even a little red number circle. I’ll just go to the conversation and there will be a new text
sitting there as if it had already been read. So far, I only know it to be happening with one person. But I *think* that it may have happened with another person one time. To be fair, I text that first person way
more than I text anyone else, so it might be happening across the board. These are iMessage conversations.

Finally fixed mine, I unpaired the watch and then done a factory reset on the phone, reinstalled apps from backup and then paired the phone again. Yes this is a major ballache but at least now I can hear when people ring me or send me a text.

You did a factory reset on the watch? Or phone?

I’ll be shocked if that fixed the problem. Ha. Give it some time. ;)

Since the release of the new iPhone 12 models, many new iPhone owners have been running into problems with the Messages app. There are complaints from users who aren't seeing SMS messages from friends, are missing text messages in group chats, and who aren't getting notifications when text messages are incoming.

It's not clear if this is a problem that's related specifically to the iPhone 12 models or if it's a wider issue with iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2, but the majority of complaints appear to be from iPhone 12 owners.

Those who are experiencing missed SMS messages are simply not seeing some text messages that are sent from Android devices, as MacRumors reader FraXis describes:Most of the people who are missing SMS messages are not seeing them in group chats, but there are reports of some standalone messages not getting delivered. From MacRumors reader TheElmnt:There are also separate complaints of Messages being received, but no notification showing up. This is a problem that even pre-dates the iPhone 12 and iOS 14, as we've had earlier issues with it too. From MacRumors reader bmac4:
Some Verizon users have been able to solve their SMS messages by downloading the Verizon Message+ app, but it's not a complete fix for everyone and it doesn't work for all non-Verizon users. One reader also had success resetting network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings), but that has not worked for others. Toggling off 5G also does not seem to be a solution.

This is likely a problem that carriers need to address with updated firmware or that Apple needs to fix in an upcoming software update. It appears to be a problem in both iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2, and it's too soon yet to tell if iOS 14.3 is affected.

TRICK FOR TEMPORARY FIX: this has been bugging me like crazy so I paid attention to when notifications came through and when they didn’t. What I’ve figured out is if after sending a message I go back to the message Home Screen (where you see all your texts) and then exit the app, I receive all notifications. No idea why that works but it does for me. Hopefully this helps some of you.

Tried it, would love to say it worked but no..... No notifications with messages, nor with many other Apps. Raised with Apple.

People need to stop trying to turn stuff off, reboot, restore and all that nonsense.

The only way this get fixed correctly is if Apple fixes it.

So do we think that this issue will actually get fixed? I’m heavily considering moving to Android but I just don’t want to move platforms and then this gets fixed the week after.

I think so. It's too much of a core function for it not to get fixed. Personally, after escalating up through Apple, they "patched me through" (3 way call) to tier 2 Verizon tech support. I get updates from Verizon regularly and they've been working on it. I actually have not had any issues in around 5 days now (fingers crossed).
