So many cases have just been released for new 12 range that are not MagSafe compatible. I guess Apple only released phone sizes and not their new charging tech details. It’s obvious why they didn’t, I know, but the case manufacturers are going to have to revisit their case designs.

I did what I always do - ordered the Caudabe Sheath. Perfect for me. Thin/Thick enough, lip that protects cameras and front. Combine it with a tempered glass protector and you are set. Also, they are spot on when it comes to grippiness, while still being fairly easy to get in and out of pocket.

Have Totallee Thin naughtily put an Apple logo on their case, or the case so thin that it's just the logo showing through from the phone?

Just got a simple clear case for my new iPhone 12 pro. My Xs max on the left in a slim black case and 12 pro clear case on the right.

It would be great to see cases for older phones that have the Magsafe magnets built into the case for the alignment of the charger and holding it on car holders etc. I have an iPhone XR and would love to add Magsafe to it. I'm tempted to upgrade for Magsafe, but don't think I will ($$$$).

There probably won’t be a battery case but instead a battery MagSafe. So you get a MagSafe case, stick a MagSafe battery to that case. Or remove it when you don’t need it. At least that would make more sense then a dedicated battery case imo
That's actually a brilliant idea.

I’ve used a Loopy Case (https://www.loopycases.com) for a few years now but I charge with a cable so no idea if they’re capable of wireless charging. I tried the Otterbox Pop a while back which I had high hopes for, but I returned it because the pop socket wasn’t central and every time I went to touch my phone when it was in landscape mode, with the pop socket ‘out’, it’d tip over, which made it useless as a kickstand.

I don’t know if the loopy cases are MagSafe compatible either and my only bug bear is the inability to use the loop as a kickstand. Oh, and the fact that a little lump protrudes from my arse pocket where the loop is. Other than that, I just find the loopy case so useful.
I love Loopy cases! Unfortunately, my cat loves it more and always finds a way to chew the loop when I’m not paying attention. I’ve had to move on from them unfortunately

That would make sense.

This patent application drawing shows and describes a battery case (10B). Either way, I am looking forward to seeing what Apple does.

Yeah none of the featured ones do it for me. The Totally thin one is nice, but that is too expensive for what it is. Same with the Apple ones.
I like the ones with a flap on the back for credit cards and there are a lot of brands selling those at affordable prices on Amazon. I am not a fan of the front flap.

I stuck with the Apple silicone case -- navy blue for the new blue iPhone 12. I had Apple's clear case for the iPhone 11, but hated how it always looked dirty (you could see all the dust that got in) and it was impossible to get on/off.

I went with Ringke clear matte - I had one on my Note 10 and liked it very much. I hope this one is the same result. This will hold me over till I decide on what case to use..

Oh yes. At least I don’t think they’d only offer the brown color.

I would expect the available colours to at least match the ones of the leather card holder.

Now that Magsafe is a thing, one thing that I think (I'm not sure frankly) I'd like to see is basically just a design-y-ish back "plate" simply to have the phone rest flat on a surface without adding extra bulk. Basically perhaps something akin to the leather card holder, but without the card holder.

I feel that I kind of like what the card holder looks like on the 12 mini as it extends right to the edges :

Particularly with square designs, I've always disliked how most cases look around the edge anyway. And to be frank I'd like to spend more time looking at my phone's design rather than a case.
Oh and more fabric cases as well. They tend to be rare and most of the ones I've seen are ugly and use cheap fabric.
Perhaps Apple's Magsafe could also be used alongside a form of ID tag for accessories that would automatically switch the wallpaper's colour as well ?

I ordered the Caudabe Synthesis - a bit more protection than the Sheath (which is also a great case). I like the way the front and back are slightly raised when you lay the phone flat on a table.

I also ordered their screen protector two-pack. More expensive than others I’ve used, but I didn’t feel like scrolling through endless choices from random sellers on Amazon.

Just ordered this from Speck via Amazon. I was very happy with the old Candyshell which I still use on my 1st gen SE so I figured this would be the logical successor.

The phone is not even out there and we have a protective case buying guide . Imagine how lonely and dusty that case can get if your phone is pushed out behind nov 6.

Neat idea. I would be all over a flat leather backplate.

I always laugh at military grade protection. What does that mean? Which military? How did they obtain such technology? Does that mean the military doesn’t have the technology to have better protection than this small company can come up with?

Right? Sort of like “aerospace grade aluminum.” The same alloy that is used for aircraft parts is also used for beer cans - but “beverage can grade” has less of an appeal I suppose. :p
